But if we loan Viudez out(wich will happen i guess)than we have one EU-spot more available right?

Also Dzeko is a realistic target,Hernanes will not come unless Pirlo maybe leaves....Hernanes will not probably come....

Others, like Pirlo, Gattuso and Seedorf are different, they're on longer contracts but we can't sell them for what they were worth 3 or 4 years ago (maybe Pirlo would get 20, but not much more) but they can still be very effective this year. Getting rid of them now and try to add 6 new players to the starting 11 is too much of a change, especially with the Leo transition. Gattuso-Pirlo works for now, but it won't last more than a year or two.

Maybe I was wrong, and what I meant to say was that the transition has to last longer. It's not a one summer deal and we're set. The balance of the team is very delicate, and you don't want to rip of the crucial elements, without letting the new ones find their groove.
What you are saying is right but any big overhaul will mean new coach will need to think differently any way, over 1 season or not, the attitude of the club is changing. What I am saying if the aim is to be good AND cheap at the same time we might as well go for it.

And everybody should diminish their expectation too. Taking your example:

Quote:
OUT: R80, Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso, Ambro, Kala, Dida, Kalac.
Replacing them you will be saving money on at most 3 of those. Don't be under the impression that we can keep a 'Milan quality' squad and save so much money on salaries.

Looks like we can all quit fantasizing about Kjaer now, as he's staying put at Palermo.

So, according to the Daily Star (which would be pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel if they weren't standing on the shoulders of the Spanish press) is claiming Chelsea is going to use Drogba as bait to lure Pato from Milan. They're saying the offer will be Drogba plus 30 million pounds.

I'm a bit worried about all these rumours of a 4-3-3 (thanks to Leonardo, I'm not too worried as he said that the formation will depend on the players he will have at the start of the next season) as we saw with Italy that both Gattuso and Pirlo can't play in this kind of formation ... I mean, with them in midfield in a 4-3-3 formation, we will suffer from many counter-attacks with 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 3 for our defence, and we saw these last years that without a good midfield, our defence isn't that good, even when Nesta is fit (he can't save us all the time).

Did you also notice that Leonardo contradicted Berlusconi ?? Berlusconi announced that our wings were operationnal with Pato and Ronaldinho, and Leonardo just replied that Pato isn't a winger but a second striker (which will make Brasiliero happy because he said many times he doesn't want to see Pato playing on a wing and I agree with him) ...

Think I disagree a bit here Rez...

Milan can restructure (and now is the perfect time, having sold our marqius player, and lost his replacement) and like Arsenal, have a salary cap..

The problem is keeping those players (and we would have to amp up our scouting and youth acadamies) so they don't do to us, what Flamini did to Arsenal, and leave for better wages.

So it is possible, to have "Milan quality" players without breaking the bank, and achieve the success (or lack thereof) as the Gunners have had under Wenger...

However, if we can manage to blend youth and experience, by doing as we do: look out for experienced (read older) free-agents to add the big-game confidence that only years in the game at the highest level can bring, then I'm sure that we would be back at the top of europe in short order (all things being equal of course: ie the untried coach is a winner, and has enough quality to work with, minimal injuries to key players, Moratti not buying the refs, etc).

It is however, an improbable scenario, as our ageing owner will want immediate success, as the fans will also...

And yet it boggles my mind as to how, with the way we have begun this mercato, they (ie B&G) really expect us to be protagonists on 3 fronts next season? Or will our objectives be: "to go as fas as we can in the UCL, and gain a top 3 spot in the Serie A"?

I felt last season would be a transitional year, with Carlo being re-appointed, and Kaka, Gourcuff and R80 all in the same team, and just key additions in the summer to reinforce the gaps....well, I was certainly in for a shock, though wasn't I?

So then, the restructuring really is in earnest, yet we again see (and importantly)in our approach to the mercato, the sort of prevarication, deceit, public negotiation, and spectacular reverses that leave fans frustrated and humiliated.

One thing I do agree with u on though, is the "lowering of expectations" bit...

indeed, it would take the most optimistic pundit to think that a rookie coach (NEVER having had previous experience, well to my knowledge anyway), with an unpredictable R80, an immature Pato, and an ageing Pirlo (if he stays) will be enough to challenge on three fronts.

Honestly, for next season, regardless who we get, and who we keep, it maybe a nightmare by January....with us in the relegation spots, and out of Europe and the Coppa.

So I hope for the best, while preparing for the worst.

Wenger may have a form of salary cap self-imposed and probably for that Arsenal would be one model Milan fans would find disappointing too. If nothing else in terms of number of trophies surely?
Berlusconi may be the one complaining (and it shocks me to read on soccernet he saying he didn't know how big Pirlo's salary is...I sincerely hope that was a rumour site lie or lost in translation or something...) about salaries but he is the one directly responsible for the likes of R80 and Rivaldo coming here. You can say those same players accepted some cuts to join us but still their effect on payroll is certainly not a negative one.
Further to that if we end up spending a significant chunk of Kaka's transfer money then the whole idea of selling him for the money is defeated, that is why I share the fear you expressed in the last lines of your post.

Like I said after the Kaka's sell.

If Berlu did not use the money on Kaka's sell, he was telling the truth about needing the money to finance the club. Thus he was not lying and we can't call for his head too much b/c he was telling the truth.(although, I just think he pocketed them)
IF Berlu spent the money on players, we still won't call him a lier b/c he got us great players and we will actually love him for it.

In terms of TRANSFER POLICIES, I would love for us to adopt the new Manchester United model: not splashing any big money on players over the age of 26.

Transfer rumours are insane today. If the Dzeko deal falls through, we we're after Adebayor apparently (milannews). The latest list of names to replace Pirlo is Hernanes, Palombo, Melo and Gago, though the Pirlo deal looks unlikely as Abramovich isn't willing to pay so much for a 30 yr old (milannews).

We're apparently renegotiating for Cissokho. The deal we want now is a loan deal for 3m and then we'll pay 12m to make it permanent if he plays more than 50% of games next season, whilst the player will return to Milan soon to try and convince the club to push the deal through (goal.com). I think I read on milannews that Porto are claiming there are no physical issues.

The situation is well described when you realise that Maldini refused to work with Galliani in Milan in ANY role. It says all.

And this sallarycap is **** becouse we are not Arsenal. I are becoming one but its a sad event.

Leonardo knows well Pato isnt a winger and he CANT play as a winger becouse Pato has no defensive moves in his game by his nature.

More, this "I love Milan the way everyone should" stuff by Warro... I dont appreciate it. Love Milan the way you want, but people that riticise Milan and are bittered by the things that are being done by Silvio and Galliani love Milan as much as you! Romantic letters dont proove love more then something else.

And, people think we can play 60 games per year with 15, 16 players! .

If we insert LB and Cf in here. And wqe are generous to say Nesta, Pippo, Seedorf, Dinho, Pirlo etc are able to play lwithout injuries and extreme dips in form, even then we can see how thin this squad is.

We could all see what kind of difference a classic central AM makes against squad's that dont have that ( Azzuri vs Brasil ). To think dinho and Pato will play as a dinamic wingers is insane and delussional and came up from the head of Silvio who has lost compas.

We need a CENTRAL midfielder that can play vertically, Noone mentiones that and that is the MAIN thing we lack! player like Fabregas, maybe Hernanes.

And once Wolfsburg decides they have no need to sell their best player coz they dont need money, we'll stay with Toni on mercato.

If we dont get Dzeko, rumours are saying we will go for the Brazilian Luis Fabiano of Sevilla, currently in action at the Confederations Cup,he scored twice against Italy and is an amazing striker,he has it all.He is also quite big and has a great movement.

Love to see him at Milan with Dinho and Alexandre Pato.

But again this is all rumours.

Also Mrki,i dont think that we will end up with Luca Toni if we have trouble getting a striker. We will sign good players but not the ones you desire. And i dont know where you got the ''our squad is very thin'' idea from.Lets say the management is going to get few people enough to create a normal team(wich means they ****ed us with the Kaka deal) then the team looks like:

Abbiati/Dida/Kalac

Zambrotta/Antonini-Nesta/Bonera-T.Silva-New CB-Cissokho/Albertazzi

Gattuso/Flamini-Pirlo/Gattuso(did great there last year)/Seedorf(same as Gattuso)/Flamini-Flamini/Ambrosini/Seedorf/Jankulovksi and Cardacio

Pato/Abate-New CF/Borriello-Ronaldinho

So our defence is as you see a great mix of young and old,we have for every position 1 good player who are good enough for the starting XI and the backup players are good enough for the bench(Antonini) or very promising youngsters(Albertazzi)

On the midfield we have enough options: Rhino,Flamini,Jankulovksi,Pirlo,Ambrosini,Seedorf,Strasser.

As you see we have 7 players for 3 positions, all of them great. Seedorf is the only one who isnt that good but Ambrosini is underrated as he is very useful for some matches(like against Merda).Strasser is the young talent with Cardacio who can be a suprise if he gets a chance. and we all know how Janku plays on the LM.
So the midfield is no need for a change

In the attack we have Pato with Abate,Dzeko(??)with Borrie and Ronaldinho,Pippo will be the supersub.

We maybe can use one more young promising talent from the youth academy for the left wing....

The goalkeepers are not a issue until next year when Dida and Kalac are free to go,Dida now is the number one striker for just a little bit until Abbiati returns to action.

What in the world are u talking about mrki?

No....really...what is going on with u for to write something like that?

Actually, I don't want to kno....

There is a saying in Jamaica: "Mi throw mi corn, mi neva call no fowl"...which means: I made some statements, and called no-one's name....or maybe this is more fitting: "who the cap fits, let them wear it"....

I made a simple poem, not to point the finger @ anyone in particular, but to describe the way I feel...not to belittle anyone, or place myself above anyone.

It was an expression of my feelings...if u feel offended: Tough. Don't want to read my posts, block me.

I refuse to apologise for a blanket statement, wherein no names were mentioned, and of all the posters, you are the only one (yet) to take exception.

At the end of the day, if I cannot express myself on these boards, then why am I here?

Go easy mrki. If I want to say something about u, or any other poster on this forum, I am intelligent and articulate enough to do so, and to do so directly to that individual...I don't have to be vague.

And while ur constant bickering and sniping is irritating, I totally understand ur position, and in truth, agree with u on occasion.

Chillax dude, its not that serious.
