"we welcome back Oddo who is a world champion" LOLLLLLL

van Nistelrooy can play until 40....brilliant stuff.

Your post should be written on some wall near San Siro or at least would make a very good stand up comedy.

Your posts have been very refreshing today..keep up the good work

Speaking of Calciopoli, check out Moggi's latest comments:www.goal.com

Here's the part about Merda:

He then took another jibe at Inter, who have dominated Italian football in the aftermath of the scandal. Recently the salesman who provided Moggi with his foreign phone cards revealed that Inter manager Marco Branca was one of his clients.

"If Inter went to that store and a former Telecom security officer had two Swiss phone cards confiscated, I think that if one and one still equals two, the conclusion is clear...," Moggi concluded.

The fact of the matter, I think, is laid out in the bold paragraph. We lost three world-class players, but we brought in 4 quality replacements the season before, and two during that transition period. Remember, Panucci and Desailly played for their respective countries, as did Boban and Savicevic.

The fact that Milan did not add much in our past few mercatos has been, imho, the main reason why we've been in a decline, instead of maintaining a certain level of quality.
It does seem that maybe we're not so far apart. Maybe it's mostly that I prefer to look at the glass as half full. But did Milan really do so poorly in the transfer market last year? The club brought in Ronaldinho, Flamini and Borriello in the summer and then made a deal for Thiago Silva in December. Granted, none of these players were brilliant revelations in the past season, but none really had much opportunity to be (and Silva no opportunity at all, of course).

Ronaldinho actually played very well in several games when Kaka was out, but mostly he was a reserve. Now he has an opportunity to prove himself again and an opportunity to prove to Dunga that he belongs in Brazil's World Cup team for next summer. I can't help but think we will see a totally different Ronnie this year now that he no longer has to play second fiddle to Kaka. Remember, exactly two years ago on this date Ronaldinho was coming off a 25-goal season and was again a nominee for World Player of the Year. After one injury-plagued season at Barcelona and a season mostly on the bench at Milan, you would think he has a lot to prove.

Flamini may not be a great player, but he's a very damned good one and should only get better. But for whatever reason Carlo didn't seem to trust him. He only began to get an opportunity later in the season (and even then doing a great job playing out of position at fullback). I believe once he's getting regular time in the midfield he'll be an extremely important player for Milan because of his defensive skils and his passing skills.

Borriello returned to Milan after a brilliant 19 goal season at Genoa, but lost almost the entire season to injury. In the few games he played early in the season, I actually thought he was fantastic except that his finishing had not yet come around. If he had scored a few more goals in the seven games he played, fans would have been salivating at the thought of having him back this season. But aside from his finishing (which hadn't been a problem for him in the past, so there's no reason to think it will be in the future) I actually thought he was quite brilliant.

So maybe someday we'll look back and think how smart it was for Milan to bring in Ronaldinho, Flamini, Borriello and Thiago Silva before letting Kaka go. And if Milan adds, say, Cissokho along with a proven striker and a central defender while working in some of the younger guys like Abate, I see no reason in the world why Milan can't challenge Inter for the Scudetto and be a factor in the Champions League.

Quote:
You say that the problem should be with the League as a whole, but you don't see Juve or Inter in the same kind of slump we're in. Are they not in the same league? I don't have to remind you that Juve lost over half of their squad when they went down. They went down for a season and came back up in one shot, added a few signings and came second in the league when they did (whereas we dropped to 5th staying in the same league). Fiore and Napoli don't seem to have problems keeping their players, or adding to their squad for that matter. Yet why are we the ones in the league that can't manage to sign the players we want, for less than the crazy amounts that the selling clubs request?
Inter signed Milito, a player I like a lot, and they may end up with a couple of Chelsea castoffs (albeit very good castoffs in Deco and Carvalho), but they also are in danger of losing Ibrahimovic and Maicon (if not this year, probably next year). And look at the age of the players Inter has or is likely to buy: Milito is 30, Carvalho is 31 and Deco will soon be 32. Isn't that exactly the same transfer policy Milan has taken so much heat over in recent years? I would think that fans would be happy that this summer Milan is being linked with a lot of good, young talent rather than thirtysomethings on the downsides of their careers. Inter made some great signings a few years ago (most notably signing Ibrahimovic, taking advantage of Juve's situation in the scandal). but honestly they don't seem to be as big a player in the transfer market as they were a few years ago.

Juventus has done a terrific job of coming back from the scandal, but they are no better than Milan. In fact, if Serie A used the same tiebreaker as England and Spain, Milan would have finished second last season instead of Juve. They've accomplished their comeback mostly with a core of players left over from before the scandal while adding some Bosman transfers and buying a few players already in Italy. They made a great signing this summer by getting Diego (a marvelous player) for €24.5 million, but I don't seem them making any big splashes the rest of the way. If memory serves me correct, Amauri was their only big signing last summer.

Remember, too, that Milan was hurt by the scandal as well (even though there was no credible evidence against the club, but they didn't want it to look like they were picking on Juve). If not for the scandal, Ibrahimovic would probably be a Milan player instead of an Inter player. Milan lost almost a whole summer of transfer market because players didn't know if Milan would remain in Serie A or be relegated.

So if Milan can sign a few talented young players this summer to build up some weaker spots in the squad, I think everything will be fine. We'll have a better idea in a couple of months.

Last report is about Galliani being seen in Sweden to meet Criscito from Genoa ... if that's true, it's good news as I rate this player as a very promising defender (just after Santacroce).

I always wondered why Juventus didn't keep him ...

No matter what feelings milanistas may have for him. We surely have lost a man of great character. He has all the personal qualities of Maldini and Baresi. I hoped he would become the new captain and along with Leo start a new generation. No matter who we sign, we will never be able to fill the void left by him.

He is not even close to those names. He is only a LIER.

I think there were a combination of reasons for Kaka' leaving. But now that he is at Real, I wish him the worst. I know that sounds callous, but that is how I feel. I hope he miserably fails.

There, I said it.

He was sold not at his behest but at the club's. Galliani has said it and he has said it. He was very courteous to Milan fans and the club. He liked Madrid but didn't force the move himself. There is no other angle to this story.

Kaka': I felt the time was right for a change and Real Madrid is the club for me.

Nothing wrong with his decision. Every player can go. How he went to Madrid is the problem, not his decision to leave Milan.

You can never know whether he had this feeling before Milan's intention to sell him or after that. For all I know is that he was an extremely pious man and wouldn't lie about his willingness to stay with the club, which he did even after being sold.

He has been very kind towards the club, fans and Italy in about every interview till today. Don't let our misery in the transfer market cloud his feelings and contribution to Milan.

Every Brazilian wants to play in Madrid then why shouldn't he feel happy about the switch. Also, if you have joined such a major club at such a high price tags, you cannot let their fans feel that Milan is still the best club for you.

Like I said before there is really no other side to this story.

I don't want to go off-topic so I won't speak about it anymore.

Any sources?

I'd love for us to sign Criscito. He had a very good season with Genoa, but for some reason Juve want to bring in old man Grosso to play LB . I believe Maldini spoke very highly of Criscito when asked about the new generation/his "successors". I can't really see Juve selling him to us, though...

Right, because pious men like Jerry Falwell, fanatic mullahs, and other creeps never tell lies.

Kaka' knew how to play the game, as did Milan. I have posted a very detailed account of this transfer: http://www.milanmania.com/forums/sho...530#post534530
