He played the best football playing alone up front this season, and when he played with Inzaghi, Inzaghi scored alot of goals, but Pato seemed to Dissapear.
Saying Huntelaar "flopped" at Madrid is probably too harsh, but he wasn't a success either. 8 goals in 20 games is a pretty good rate for a player who only arrived in January. But there's a reason why he wasn't the first choice striker at Madrid: he IS a limited player. He is NOT a creative player and isn't very involved with the build up. He's the sort of player that when he doesn't score, he doesn't play well. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though - look at RVN, Pippo etc.

Btw, I completely agree that Pato should play up front, not as a supporting striker or winger. As I've said before, we really ought to go with a 4-3-3 formation next season, with Pato as the CF, Dinho on the left, and a new striker (like Rossi) on the right. But naturally this wouldn't be a static system, the player would interchange a la Barca.

He flopped at Real,WTF?Look at his scoring chart at Real the guy was brought in in January and he just just recovered from injury,he had soooo much pressure because they(club and fans)expected him to solve the problems in front etc. and he did in only a half year!!!

You say he is not capable of playing football?IMO it is Dzeko who is the big clumsy striker with no speed etc and a limited technique,Huntelaar is the one who can play football with the team and set up attacks and score goals trough individual actions. And btw: The Guy is one of the best poachers in the world, no doubt about it.

You clearly have not seen him play, otherwise you would have seen that he scored goals with backflips and incredible curling free-kicks.

To bad to bad.....
Please... Huntelaar started off in Real Madrid being considered a flop after having played really poorly in his first couple of games. Then he had 3 or 4 really good games against teams they beat 3, 4 - 0 and after that he went back to his old ways of not scoring. Basicly all his goals were scored in games where they scored 5+ goals, and in a very short period.

If he was such a succes in Real Madrid, then how come he hasn't scored a single goal since march? And how come everyone think he's leaving Real Madrid after just 6 months? Actually I remember his last couple of months from Real Merda very well, and I remember that whenever he played he was terrible. Like I said the guy was bought for 20M'ish euro's, and he could've potentially have played 20-something games, yet he has only played 3 or 4 good games for Real Madrid, if that's not a flop then I don't know what is. But like I said, I don't hold his time at Madrid to much against him.

He might have setup up attacks etc. at Ajax, I wouldn't know, but he sure as hell didn't do that at Real Madrid, like I said, except for his 4 good games, he didn't really do much of anything. But please don't compare his skill on the ball to Fabiano or Adabayor, because those two are on another planet than Huntelaar when it comes to skill on the ball.

But the main reason I don't think Huntelaar is the right man for us, as I said, is that I simply don't think he's a player with the characteristics that we're looking for. I consider him a goal-scorer, and yes we do need a goalscorer, but we don't need one more Inzaghi.

Christian, you are acting like Huntelaar only scored two goals in 16 games or so,while he acctually scored 8 goals in 20 games while many of those games he came in as a substitute, you are talking about the fact he played terrible in the first couple of games, but that is also not true, the guy made his debut with only 45 minutes, and he couldnt score in those 45 minutes and then Ramos put him on the bench, when he got a another chance(i cannot call 45 minutes a chance but...)he scored like 7 goals in 5 games.

Ok,Fabiano and Adebayor are better in terms of technique, but i can also say Huntelaar is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy better in terms of headers and finishing skills,or in terms of age.

You make Huntelaar sound like a Pippo kind of player but he isnt Pippo, you can compare him with Pippo because he also has a awsome header and his finishing skills are almost perfect as those of Inzaghi, but unlike Pippo Huntelaar can take free-kicks,he can play soccer outside the ball etc.

With Ronaldinho and Pato probably in the starting XI we dont need another player with good technique but a strong (big) guy who just can finish chances of and who can head the ball.

We dont need Fabiano or Ade,because we already have Pato and Dinho. We need another Pippo only then with more skills in his play and that guy is: HUNTELAAR.

I'm not sure what to make of some of the comments about Huntelaar being made. He wouldn't fit in Milan? Did Marco van Basten not fit in Milan? Because that's who Huntelaar has always been compared to because of his playing style and his tremendous goalscoring ability. He can use and score with both feet or with his head. He's athletic. He has good technique. What do you want?

Louis van Gaal, the former Barcelona and Netherlands coach (and new coach at Bayern Munich) said of Huntelaar "In the box, he is the best player in the world, bar none."

Funny, but the past couple of summers it seemed posters here were just wanking over Huntelaar and couldn't understand why Milan didn't make a move for him. Now that there's some possibility that he may actually end up in Milan, half of you think he's not good enough.

I also dont get it Rick,he proved he wasnt a striker who only can score goals in a minor league like the Eredivisie,he made goals in Spain and more importantly at the NT of Holland.

He even made goals in the C.League with Ajax a couple of years ago,do you want to know against who: It was against Inter.Even at young age he impressed on the big stage.

He is one of the best, period.

No player is perfect. Not Kaka. Not Ronaldo. Neither Maradona nor Pele were perfect. But the object of the game is to score goals. Any time you add a guy who can score goals in bunches for your team, it's a good thing.

Anyway, for those who think Milan is the only Italian club being cheap in the transfer market:

Quote:
Discussions between Chelsea and Inter Milan over a possible switch to Italy for defender Ricardo Carvalho and midfielder Deco have collapsed. The Blues value the pair at £12m while the Nerazzurri are unwilling to go beyond £6m.
If that's the case, I wouldn't mind Milan going after Carvalho (the fact that people would ***** about his age notwithstanding). He could really solidify the central defense for the next two or three years and he would come fairly cheap.

I really have hoped that Inter wouldnt get Carvalho, sorry to say but the guy is World-class,he is a great defender and its only for Alex being at Chelsea that he doesnt play.

Hope we get him instead of Inter, also Gallas is a good option, can also play as LB or RB.

Gallas-Nesta-Silva-Zambrotta.

I think this i arguably one of the best defense in the world.

If it's true that Inter won't go past £6m for both of them, that boggles my mind. Carvalho alone is worth more than that.

I read some back and forth a few pages back about Criscito's position. I'm almost 100% sure that he's a LB. He was very good for the U-21s at LB and definitely played that position. Bochetti and Andreolli were the CBs for the tournament. How about this for a back line

------Zambro-----Nesta/Silva------Santacroce----Criscito

An all-Italian backline...remember those days . But than again, my wishes can be far-fetched!!

AC Milan And Inter Looking Good, Not Sure About Juventus - Arrigo Sacchi
Arrigo Sacchi commented on the transfer campaigns of Inter, AC Milan and Juventus.
30 Jun 2009 20:37:05

Today former AC Milan and Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport in which he talked about the transfer campaigns of Serie A's Big Three so far.

First of all, he discussed the Rossoneri's new policy of buying less glamorous players despite Kaka's high profile move to Real Madrid.

"The fans are complaining about Kaka's departure and the club's decision to stop signing big names. However, they should have been alarmed before, when the club invested too much money on players who were in the twilight of their careers.

"[Silvio] Berlusconi and [Adriano] Galliani are great managers, but lately they have gone against their innovative spirit. Now, as intelligent people, they have changed their course and I very much trust their abilities and intuitions: I'm sure the new Milan won't disappoint."

Sacchi then moved on to discuss current champions Inter, who he thinks have made some good moves so far.

"The great Inter of [Massimo] Moratti and [Jose] Mourinho have bought [Diego] Milito, who is a striker that gives guarantees on a professional and technical level," he continued. "Thiago Motta is mainly a technical guarantee, but if Mourinho can reduce his exuberance he could be very important. The future arrival [Ricardo] Carvalho would improve the defence's technical level, while Deco is a more risky investment..."

He was less enthusiastic about Juventus, saying "the Bianconeri have needed a playmaker who can dictate the tempo, and give geometry and fluidity to their football. The ideal player would be [Gaetano] D'Agostino, [Cristian] Ledesma, while Real Madrid's [Mahamadou] Diarra is more of a destroyer. Diego is a great purchase, but I have my doubts about [Fabio] Cannavaro and [Giorgio] Chiellini's tactical compatibility."

Danilo Pochini, Goal.com

I'll think Sacchi's opinion is a little bit different than some of our posters here,
Hmmmm.......but not sure!!!!
Sacchi's opinion is fine, but it's one thing to hear about Milan's new approach (something I've agreed with) and it's another to see action. Right now, we're seeing some very shoddy looking work being done in the transfer market by Galliani, which may appear as though we're buying long term prospects that aren't yet stars, but at the same time, nothing's actually been done yet.

I think Cristico can play both CB and LB. Wouldn't mind getting him if we can.

Can someone help me out with "loan" deals. I know the ownership stays with the team who loaned the player out, BUT, does the team who receives the player for the loan always have an option to buy out the player? I remember when Gourcuff was sold to Bourdeax last month they discussed the transfer fee.

The reason I ask is if we take Huntelaar and than want to buy next summer, i'm afraid his price will be jacked up if he performs well for us next year. Wouldnt it be better to buy him straight out? I know with loans you have the time to say goodbye if they do not perform well, but still a risk.

I think he's proven, I think they should jump for him...

goal.com is crap when reporting about transfers and stuff. when it come to editorials and debates they actually have some great writing there, so no surprise here. I read the artivcle and its really good. I simply dont know why we dont go for at least 2-3 out of those given names. We can boost our squad depth with huge talent

Loan deals can be either way. Usually with more established players there is an option to buy and I would expect that would be the case with Huntelaar. I wouldn't mind seeing Milan buy him straight out, but if they can get a loan with an option to buy at a certain price (like Bordeaux with Gourcuff) that would be safer because you have a chance to see how the player is going to settle before you make your final decision.
