I think a lot of this depends on your definition of replacement. To me, a club of Milan's caliber should replace a dynamic goal scorer like Shevchenko with someone who can contribute at similar levels. In that regard, one can argue that milan still haven't found a replacement for Shevchenko yet as we still do not have a forward we can relay on for goals. Pato is a great player, but replacing Shevchenko with him did indeed significantly decrease our attacking power.

I think our downhill spiral began with our inability to find a viable Shevchenko replacement after he left in '06. They were either busts (Gila) or a waste to begin with (Oliveira).

Hmm...Gila came in 2005.

Pato was our replacement for Sheva; Oliveira was bought during the infamous Calciopli summer. The management doesn't deserve much credit in recent years, but Pato was a great purchase.

Andre Santos is our reason for being in Brazil (milannews).

Milan can't wait as german side VfB Stuttgart plans to sign him, in order to replace Gomez. And remember, Bayern paid 35 Mio € for Gomez!

It looks like we try to build a strong squad ... for the Primavera !!

Is it our new way to build the team ??
We already bought 3 players for the Primavera, 3 promising players ... so maybe they want to build a strong Primavera by taking players from other clubs for now (by waiting players from our own youth teams), and it's a way to prepare them to be in our first team in some years ??

Eh, I don't know about Andre Santos, what are your thoughts of him?

I'd rather have Cissohko, I just read Porto rejected a bid from Lyon for 10 mil.

Re: Santos

Corinthians have Real flu atm and are asking for 20 million euros . But a South American transfer expert thinks a deal could be in place for 6 million euros.

If we sign him, then we will certainly give up on Cissokho. He will also take up the non-eu spot and our striker options would be limited.

Hey Dutchie, I want you to know that to have less swearwords in your posts doesn't mean that your point will be lost, so chill down. I'm not your mother but I'm concerned, tired, and annoyed if you keep swearing to everyone not agreeing with you. And don't even try that to me.

Juve just signed Felipe Melo for 20 million euros plus Marchionne (2-3 million euro).

Along the same lines, Bayern paid 30 million euros for Mario Gomez.

We would have never paid that much money for these players.

I think Juve is way ahead of us at the moment.

by a far mile!! But the market is young and we all knew without Pirlo leaving, we were never going to chase Melo! With this now done, I would like for us to chase D'Agostino

They have bought Diego and yet Melo (if news can be trusted). They haven't got any big money for players they have sold. They were in Serie B 3 years ago, had no CL two years ago and still can buy 'expensive' players?

What happened actually with Milan?

Yea definetly, they've probably had the best Mercato so far in Italy. I don't expect much else to happen there though.

I'm actually glad that Melo went to Juventus and not Arsenal. I think it's good for Serie A that he stays, since it's very important that the Italian teams do good in europe this season.

Also about our economy, as far as I know it's as good as they come. The only reason why we sold Kaka and haven't spend like Juventus is that our club is the only one of the top clubs who has decided that we're not gonna run on debt.
