Question: Would everyone be happy with the following for the rest of the mercato (From today onward):

1. Fabiano IN
2. Hernanes IN
3. Pirlo OUT
4. Pasqual IN

I'm leaving out the CB to see what everyone thinks.

I would be more then happy,Hernanes will give us a boost in terms of high speed and energetic play,Fabiano is the striker we lack and we need a LB and Pasqual fits the profile.

Acctually i dont know where people get the hope that Milan is going to sign a CB,we would sign one this mercato and we did in Onyewu, whether its a good one or not is a other story, but after also renewing Favagols contract a other CB coming in is impossible, the MGT isnt targeting a CB anymore so stop talking about that department,it seems Nesta has made a good bounce back from injury and IF he stays fit, wich i think he will, then a new CB isnt needed because the likes of Kaladze,Bony etc. arent leaving.

Even though I like Pirlo, I would be happy.

Pasqual is really good but Cissokho was the best option...with him flying up with wings with Dinho, that would've been so perfect...plus he is very fast and can run back and cover up for defense..Oh how i wish Galliani wasn't so wicked...losing this player hurts...apparently, Kalac is linked with Parma

We need more depth in our medfield(since kaka, gorky and pirlo, will be out on your squad),our only creative meds will be dinho, seedorf, hernanes(very few for 50 games per season)..

we need a wc cb,nesta's condition is a ?,and TS needs time i think..
pasqual is not that better from what we have..

but with these moves we ll still have about 50mil!!! to spend(65kaka+15gorky+20pirlo-18fabiano-20hernanes-7(?)pasqual)..but of course we have to balance the books or pockets or whatever..

Hrm.... I watched the highlights at work today and I must say, Antonini did just as well as I expected him to. I do recall telling everyone here that he has as much heart as Gattuso on the field, and should have been given more chances last season.

Plus, Antonini and Zambro can both do left and right back positions, so swapping is going to be really simple for us this coming season. The only problem will be in the replacements when they need to rest up. Albertazzi and Pasquale? Yes definitely!

If management do manage to pull off the coup of the mercato and bring in Hernanes and Fabiano, I definitely see a strong ray of hope in our League and CL challenges. Just think

---Ronnie----Fabiano----Pato

---Ambro---Hernanes---Gattuso

Antonini--T.Silva--Nesta--Zambro
-------------Abbiati

Fa-Pa-Ro anyone?
Or maybe a new Quaretto Magico

It's more than just being 'fast' dude; Pirlo doesn't 'sell' his speed; he sells his passing skills and visions. While we don't see direct assist from him (due to his position and the awfully short strikers we have), it's often the case that missing him from the field that our midfield collapses. And afterall, why are people happy to trade Hernanes with Pirlo? Why not buy the former and keep the latter?

But anyway, just my one cent.

Jeff, I'm all for buying the former to understudy for the latter. In fact that would be the best option.
But given Berlu seems to want to throw out Andea if we can get a replacement, I don't think that would be a viable option, unless we manage to lower his salary.

But then that would be up to him.... since not everyone is as sacrificing as Rino.

Because keeping latter and buying the former isnt a option Jeff,Hernanes will only come IF Pirlo leaves.

And i think Pasqual is way better then what we have right now, because the only things we have is a LM who has to play LB(Janku) and a talent(Albertazzi),thats all,he fits the profile and he is good enough.

Ryo the formation you have given will be 100 procent the formation that Leo will adapt this season and i like it,is has everything.

Fergie: No more player movement at Old Trafford

Sir Alex Ferguson handed Michael Owen Ronaldo's old shirt at Manchester United and then declared Old Trafford closed for transfer business.

Owen will wear the No.7 shirt.

After recieving £80m from the sale of the Portuguese winger to Real Madrid, it was thought Ferguson would add to the signings of Owen, Antonio Valencia and Gabriel Obertan.

But, faced with a market over-inflated by Real Madrid and Manchester City, Ferguson has decided his current squad is good enough to challenge for an unprecedented fourth consecutive league title, even though Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez have left.

He said: "It is the end of our business, so all these stories about who were are supposed to be getting - forget it.''

It means Owen will take over Ronaldo's shirt and his place in an attacking line-up containing Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov, plus youngsters Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda, who will both be given a chance to prove they are worthy of the accolades that have been bestowed on them.

"They are both young players - but young players with ability always get a chance here.''

Owen maintained he was in good shape despite his injury-prone tag. "It does irritate me that so many people have doubts,'' he said. "But if there is one thing I am angered by, the injury thing would be it. There is no doubt I have had injuries in my career. But there is a long list of players that have had a broken metatarsal.

"I was foolish trying to rush back for the World Cup and my leg had just come out of plaster. "But I played 33 and 32 games in the last two years in a team that was not in Europe and did not go on a decent cup run. Still I was continually labelled injury-prone, which gets up my nose.

"I am 29 and have played over 500 games for club and country. That says it all.''

What Owen does accept the need to prove is the retention of ability that has made him only the fourth striker in England history to score 40 goals for his country.

"In certain parts, people do have a justification to have a go at me,'' he said. "I didn't set the world alight in the last year at Newcastle. That is no-one's fault but mine. We were not playing well as a team and I wasn't doing my bit either.''

Ferguson confirmed he made a bid for Karim Benzema, only to be rebuffed by the Lyon man, who instead became part of Real Madrid's extraordinary spending spree.

''There are some amazing numbers being talked about, not all of them realistic,'' he said. ''It is very difficult to get value now. ''In a way we benefited through the sale of Cristiano, although that figure was non-negotiable.

"But I feel we have a good squad, which meant there was no need for knee-jerk reactions. 'We asked about Benzema and we had a value for him. Lyon have done well because they got 42m Euros but I think we took a sensible view.''

"Michael gives us experience in the penalty box, which is vital,'' said Ferguson. "He has always had that little knack of losing defenders in the last third. "I know he will score a lot of goals for us. He has been great at that for years.''

It appears Ferguson has been talking to Galliani...

I'm all for Hernanes.

The thing about him is that we he would transform our tactics and sort of fuse the Pirlo role with the Kaka role into one position.

--------------Dida
Zambro--Nesta--Thiago--LB
-------Gattuso--Ambro
-----------Hernanes
------Pato--------Ronaldinho
-------------Fabiano

This would sort of be somewhere between a 4231 and a 433, meaning that the central player (Hernanes) isn't always on the same line as the wide players. Pirlo and Seedorf can't do this, because it requires an insane amount of running. It's a Lampard, Gerrard role, and I think Hernanes would be perfect for this. He's not as fast as Kaka, but he can tackle really well and his shots from both feet are amazing. I can't wait, and I hope it happens.

Still dreaming of Cissokho, though.

Well, they say misery loves company, so here's one for you from the Yahoo live transfer feed:

Manchester United will not sign any more players this summer, claimed manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The surprising statement comes after United picked up Antonio Valencia (£18 million) and Michael Owen (free transfer) following the £80m sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid. Many thought United would use the windfall to rebuild their midfield and forward line following Ronaldo's departure and with Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs getting no younger. But it seems that's it for United, much to the chagrin of their supporters and, no doubt, Samuel Eto'o. Boo, hiss.
I'm sure United supporters are thrilled.

Ah, I see Hassan beat me to it!

But didn't they also sign a winger from Bordeaux?

Yes, they signed Obertan for 3 million pounds. Not sure how much he figures in their plans right away though (he's only just turned 20).
