Ryo, I have no idea who Hernanes is tbh, so I won't say anything. BUT: Did Berlu actually say he is keen to sell Pirlo?

From what I've seen posted on the forums, Berlu apparently balked when he heard how much Andrea was being paid a season.

Then the rumours about him willing to sell off Pirlo if a suitable replacement could be found started to surface.

As for who Hernanes is, well he's another fine product from a long line of fine products to walk out onto the pitch at Sao Paolo, who only last year won the Brazilian best player award. Wiki lists him as a DM, but I think he can do a lot more than defend.

I was just thinking about this tidbit from the Yahoo live transfer feed:

Quote:
English clubs are on alert after Real Madrid director general Jorge Valdano says he will need to sell at least five players to fund more signings. More are set to leave, forced out of the team by new players, and the Dutchies plus Gabi Heinze are the most likely to come to England
The transfer market has been incredibly slow in England this summer. The top 7 or 8 clubs have done relatively little outside maybe Manchester City. It seems a lot of clubs are being very conservative in the wake of Real Madrid's spending spree. That might be a smart thing because if other clubs can refrain from throwing crazy money around just because Madrid is doing it, somebody might end up getting Madrid's Dutch players and Heinze at a bargain price in August when Madrid starts to get a little antsy about unloading them.

You know what? After watching that video, I think i'm convinced that he doesn't need two fighters to back him up, like Pirlo.

I think he can survive with Flamini and those two can be our engine. That way, we can play with an almost diamond 442, like Arsenal back when Flamini was with Cesc. That's an option, i'm not saying we should do it. I'm just saying that this guy really doesn't NEED two tough tackling midfielders to clean up after him like Pirlo.

Eh, maybe not a 442, but a 4231, where he and Flamini are the 2.

Edit: Hernanes is basically somewhere in between a Gattuso and a Pirlo. In my opinion, Leo's major decision going forward is which role would he take over? Replace Pirlo, like for like, or Gattuso so that Hernanes and Flamini become the engine, and free up a position for a dedicated attacking player.

Option 1: 4231

---------------------Dida
Zambro----Nesta-------Thiago Silva------LB
--------Hernanes---Flamini
Abate------------Pato----------Ronaldinho
------------------Borriello

Option 2: 433

---------------------Dida
Zambro----Nesta-------Thiago Silva------LB
------------Gattuso-----Ambro
-----------------Hernanes
-----------------------------Ronaldinho
----------Pato
-----------------------Fabiano

Option 3: 442

---------------------Dida
Zambro----Nesta-------Thiago Silva------LB
--------------------Flamini
-----Abate-------Hernanes--------Jankulovski
--------------Pato--------Fabiano

I think Option 3 would be devastating against smaller opposition. The LM/RM and LB/RB would overlap constantly, and Fabiano/Borri would have lots of crosses coming in. Beckham can play RM. Ambro can replace Flamini for a bigger aerial threat. Looks interesting...

Antonini was great yesterday, but his performances go far beyong yesterday. Whenever he played last season he did well, but Ancelotti never really let him play much.

Antonini could be our LB.
And if we buy Pasqual

Starters:Zambrotta-Antonini
Backup:Pasqual-Jankulovski

And don't forget if we get really desperate, even though Flamini dosen't like to play RB, I'm sure he could make a few exceptions, maybe even Abate, but I read Leonardo has plans to use Abate in attack.

Is Pasqual Champions League material though?

I like option 2 with flamini instead of ambro..
without any meaning to disrespect you but option 3 is crap..having zambro cissoko(for eg) that both of them run fw is waste of players using abate and janku too..except if tou think that they are creative powre-houses,and can play really forward which i doubt..

Yep, he's in high demand, all right:

Anyway, you're already ready to name our new GK after one half of a summer friendly? Sometimes Milan fans can be the most impetuous bunch around.

I really hope this Luis Fabiano signing happens in the next day or two. I would love to see him play against Inter in Boston (if that timetable is even possible). I'm flying up from Miami for that one and it would be good to see him in our lineup for the match.

For all US-based Milanistas, the entire US Tour is on ESPN:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday, July 19
Club America vs. FC Internazionale Milano at Stanford Stadium (Palo Alto, Calif.)
7 p.m. EST on ESPN2

Tuesday, July 21
Chelsea FC vs. FC Internazionale Milano at the Rose Bowl (Pasadena, Calif.)
11 p.m. EST on ESPN2

Wednesday, July 22
AC Milan vs. Club America at the Georgia Dome (Atlanta, Ga.)
7 p.m. EST on ESPN2

Friday, July 24
AC Milan vs. Chelsea FC at M&T Bank Stadium (Baltimore, Md.)
8 p.m. EST on ESPN

Sunday, July 26
AC Milan vs. FC Internazionale Milano at Gillette Stadium (Foxborough, Mass.)
5 p.m. EST on ESPN2

Sunday, July 26
Chelsea FC vs. Club America at Dallas Cowboys Stadium (Arlington, Texas)
7 p.m. EST on ESPN2

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's not on the above list, but the game vs. the LA Galaxy this Sunday is on at 10pm EST, I believe on Fox Soccer

Well, the point is to have them overlap each other. The best way to break down tight defenses is to cross from the byline, and you can only do that if you have incredible wingers that can dribble their way there, or just have two players overlap each other and one-two.

"The Port has rejected the offer of 15 mln euro for the quarterback left Cissokho Aly (21). Il club lusitano aveva infatti richiesto altri 4 mln di euro, legati agli obiettivi sportivi che raggiungerą il Lione nei prossimi anni. The Lusitano club had applied for another 4 million, related to the objectives of sport that will reach Lyon in the coming years. La richiesta pare non sia andata gił al presidente del club francese Aulas, che ha abbandonato il tavolo delle trattative. The request is apparently not gone down to the French club's president Aulas, who has abandoned the negotiating table. "
