Antonini brought to Milan was for 3rd or 4th backup, not direct backup for our fullbacks. That's what he said in his interview in his first weeks with Milan. He himself realised his quality.
Ah well, i respect your opinion, but don't be surprised that he will clinch a starting spot somewhere in the season, and the man out will be janko. Unless, Zambrotta's Confed. Cup form is a true indicator of what he really is these days.....

FORZA CHRISTIAN!
Well, what Abbiati did in these 10 years was almost nothing except last season. What dida has done to Milan was much better than what Abbiati did to Milan. Dida saved our goal for some years. Yes, he was terrible for the last couple of years but that shouldn't deny his great job with Milan in range about 2002/03 - 2005/06.

I agree that Dida should be the first row with Kaladze, Seedorf that should go from Milan. They just earn too much.

No Agreement Between Stuttgart & Real Madrid Star Klaas-Jan Huntelaar - Agent
The representative for the Dutch striker says his client has yet to rubber stamp a move to Germany and confirms Milan are out of the race.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar’s days at Real Madrid seem numbered as the 25-year-old has not even travelled to Ireland with the rest of the squad to start pre-season training.

Press reports in Spain are speculating that the Merengues have agreed a fee with Bundesliga club Stuttgart, but his representative insists the player has yet to approve the transfer.

“The German club has reached an agreement with Real Madrid, but not with us,” agent Arnold Oosterveer claimed in an interview with Calciomercato.it.

“We have to talk, the player needs to evaluate not only the economic aspect, but also the sporting one.”

Huntelaar only joined the Spanish powerhouse from Ajax in a €20million deal last January, but he has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu following the arrivals of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

Milan also made an approach for his services last month, but Rossoneri general manager Adriano Galliani’s attempts to land the player on a loan basis were to no avail.

“Yes, the two clubs met but did not find an agreement,” concluded Oosterveer.

Milan have since turned their focus to Sevilla and Brazil star Luis Fabiano.

Vince Masiello, Goal.com

now, we must be very serious for Fabiano, or risk having to start the season empty handed (Time is counting down). Even getting the clown Adebayor will take a long time to negotiate.....

He is underrated and didnt got a chance to express his quality,so you saying that he isnt good enough because he was brought in as a backup is nonsense,i dont get it how you cannot be impressed by this player, everytime he played he did great, and im suprised you are the only one who noticed his errors, because i did not see any......???

Really? I think Carlo had his heart set on Dida when he arrived. He didn't even like Abbiati wheh he came back from a far more respectable season than Dida's!

I agree with you. I do think that he will get many chances with Leonardo (especially if he can be better defensively) since his characteristic is what Leonardo wants : fullbacks that keep pushing forwards with delivering good crosses and passes, something that Janku can't. Janku is an offensive player but his crosses were just bad. Antonini can serve much better crosses and plus he is more creative when he is upfront.

Abbiatti was the best player last season along wiht Maldini and Pato....

He is an unsing hero, and was never liked by Carlo anyway.... It was evident when he came back from loan!

Well IMO, if I had to rank our current defenders, it would be like this:

1. Nesta
2. Zambro (could also be No.1 on last season's form)
3. Silva
4. Antonini (speed and energetic, idealy suited to Leonardo's plan with FB's pushing up, I'm not saying his defensive ability is excellent but alot better then some of those below. Against Varese he played really well, give him a chance!)
5. Janku (can't cross if his life dependent upon it!)
6. Bonera (back-up FB, although hasn't done enough)
7. Oddo (back-up FB, although wouldn't mind selling him)
8. Onyewu (back-up CB)
9. Favalli (Over used by date, GONE)
10. Darmain (either loan-out to gain more experience or keep reserve)
11. Kaladze (haven't got anymore time for him, should be GONE)

Definitely Oddo, Favalli, Kaladze need replacing immediately.

Opinions??

So in saying that, you are admitting he will play a greater role next season?

Now that he might actually be appreciated, you may see the best of this player!

Now that there is a thrid party involved with the Fabiano transfer, the sale is going to drag on. this will put us in serious danger, as the price may rise to somethig that Galliani is not willing to pay for the longer the saga goes on.... And then wat?

Perhaps Zambrotta was overated and Janko higher up than expected, but otherwise, spot on....

We must remember that Bonera is in a similar situation to Antonini. He is good enough, but has been too injured to really prove it. Has he played many bad games? Not in my recent memory. He just hasn't played many. And yes, Darmian should be loaned out. Can't understand why it wasn't done earlier. he turns possession over too much in delicate moments.....

Hope ALbertazzi is not an over-rated favourite of galliani as well.

Why did you say that? What are your reasons?

Abbiati was Milan first GK when Milan started their first journey in Champions League with Carlo. Abbiati did good games but like last season he got injury. Dida step in to the first GK and looked uncertain at the beginning. The more time passed, the better his performance.

Milan were so famous to make a 1-0 victory against any club in this world. The defenders were awesome but so was Dida.

So for me, goal.com's choice for Abbiati is absurd.

Well, what I said is that he will get much more chances than what Carlo gave since his characteristic matches what Leonardo wants. Even if Chissoko comes and will be our first fullback, Antonini still will get many chances. How Antonini moves forwards can be only matched by Zambrotta IMO.

Milan Delay Fabiano deal Channel 4 football italia...It say Berlusconi is refusing to go above 15 million and 3 million over a few years looks like we have been strung along for another 4 weeks and no player and a dropped ball by Milan MGT , I just hope that we won't go on an eto 4 or 5 week chase where we think we have him only to be told on August 31st his wage demands are too high so we sign no1 and go with the champions we have...Im trying to remain optomistic but it is looking more likely that after all the talk we will only have one signing a free american who isnt near a world class player and in all likeliness will be a be a 5th choice cb I hope Im wrong but it looks like super pippo closer to 40 than 30 who couldnt run when he was 25 and can't play until spring will be a starter I remain hopefull that we will sign a quality forward and midfielder and a good LB hopefully but it looks unlikely...what do you guys think ?

Mate, rememeber the Trofeo Tim last season?

It took three matches and terrible performances by Kalac and Dida to finally give Abbiati a shot. Prior to that, Dida was coming off a disastrous year....

Christian single handedly won us that cup with his great performance, especially in the penalties, where he saved 4 shots! When he saved his third, Abbiati looked over to Carlo on the bench and grinned, making sure the coach who doubted him was actually watching!

This was against near full-strength juve and Inter sides as well.....
After that, Carlo was finally convinced.

Berlu, you have not used one cent of your own money this mercato. We haven't even spent a meagre one quarter of our money gained form sales.... Show some ba#ls and be slightly more flexible....
