Management are looking for a target man. With our restricted budget, it is virtually impossible that we will get Lavezzi and a targetman. So, we will probably just get a striker. Who? Your guess is as good as mine.

I feel for Leonardo at this moment. The raw material he has to work with currently is not that special. We need a LB and a striker urgently.

I think 30 is an arbitrary age also. Look at Zidane, for example. He really played at high levels around that age.

I think players like Kaka', Henry etc. start declining at 30; that is players who rely on pace.

I think the Lavezzi rumors stem from Aurelio De Laurentiis saying "We are equipped to deal without Lavezzi" combined with the fact that Napoli was said to be wanting to take Boriello on loan recently (Marco is from the city and would be a very popular acquisition). Whether there is any measure of truth to it, only Aurelio, Silvio and their top management knows.

By the way, the Ibrahimovic deal could be in jeopardy because Hleb doesn't want to go to Inter. From the Yahoo live transfer feed:

In interesting snippet here - Zlatan Ibrahimovic's switch to Barcelona could be in jeopardy thanks to an intransigent Alex Hleb. The Belarusian was meant to go to Inter on a season loan as a makeweight in the 45 million euro Zlatan deal, only he doesn't want to go.

well the max i think lavezzi would go for is 15 million i doubt 20 Mill MAX

I really think that Borriello is completly misunderstood around hear. He's really not that dominant in the air. He's not taller than Pato, but he seems a bit stronger though. His heading is not that great either, same with his finishing in general.

Still he's a fine player, good technique and all that, but I really don't see him as a Bierhoff type of player who just scores every time a cross hits the box.

I don't think we need one more goalscorer like Huntelaar. I think Pato can be the goalscorer, so I really don't think it's necesarry to have a striker who just came off a 20+ goals season. Ideally I'd like to see someone like Ibrahimovic next to Pato. Someone who can be an arial threat, but also has the tecnique to be able to play with Ronaldinho and Pato, play 1-2's etc which all Brazilians love to do. I don't think he necessarely needs to bag 20+ goals a season, imo Pato can do that. I haven't really seen Dembele, but from what I hear, it seems like he fits the bill.

Marco van Basten had also only scored in the dutch league before he came to Milan. Also, Huntelaar scored 8 goals in 20 matches for Real Madrid last season. Huntelaar have played 23 times for Holland scoring 13 goals, when van Basten had played 23 matches for Holland he had scored 10. I'm definitely not comparing the two only mentioning it, as Marco van Basten is one of my favorite players of all time.

Huntelaar wanted 5 million Euros to play for Stuttgart, hopefully he would accept less to play for a more illustrous club like Milan.

The stat for Real is very mis-leading as well. For the first batch of games he started from the bench and came on as a sub. Once he found his feet in the league, he was unstoppable. He's young, tall, and has amazing potential. There is a reason Real went out and got him last year. If it wasnt for their spending spree and needing to re-coup some money, they would keep him.

Well, now in all fairness, Lavezzi himself rubbishes the "new Maradona" talk. He says he's only the "new Carlos Tevez."

i really hope that huntelaar is signed, that would help quite a bit

I'd prefer Huntelaar to Fabiano or Lavezzi... well, maybe not to Dzeko but so far I rated Huntelaar the best of our 'targets' (if there was any).

With Huntelaar not wanting to move to Stuttgart, it seems the other clubs strongly linked with him are Tottenham and just in the past few days Arsenal. He may not want to go to Spurs since they're not in either the Champions League or the Europa League this year. That would leave Arsenal and Milan -- two clubs not prepared to break the bank -- as the main contenders (if it's true that Arsenal and Milan are now seriously interested). That could lead to Madrid dropping their price somewhat. Of course, Huntelaar may not want to come to Italy either. I've never seen a comment from him one way or the other.
