Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner braves a cold London night to celebrate his winner against Dynamo Kyiv.

Rumours in Italy, reported by Tuttosport, suggest that Serie A giants AC Milan have set their sights on Arsenal's young Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner.

After failing in a bid to land Brazil's Selecao star Luis Fabiano - deeming the transfer fee to be too high - the Rossoneri are now looking for a more viable option, and the 21-year-old Dane has now apparently found himself on their radar.

It is being speculated by Tuttosport - and also reported by Channel 4's Football Italia - that Milan will present the Gunners with two options, the first one being a season-long loan deal for Bendtner, similar to the one that Arsene Wenger agreed to with Milan last season for Swiss defender Philippe Senderos.

If this is knocked back by Wenger, Milan will apparently offer Arsenal a figure in the region of £10 million for their young striker.

Having just sold Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City, Wenger may be disinclined to part with Bendtner - who himself may feel that with Adebayor out of the picture, he now has the chance to establish himself as a front-line striker with Arsenal.

However, if Arsenal do consider the deal, they would probably find the first option - of a loan - more appealing. This may also be preferable to a Milanese outfit thought to be unwilling to part with large amounts of cash this summer.

Whether the possible capture of Bendtner would be enough to appease the Milan faithful, who are expecting a major coup following the sale of Kaka for €68 million, and after failed attempts for Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko, Real Madrid's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Sevilla's Luis Fabiano, is another matter. They may be expecting a more prominent target than the young Dane.

As yet, neither side have commented on these developments. The coming days should provide an indication of how substantive this transfer rumour is.

Nicklas Bendtner signed for Arsenal in 2005, and is the second Gunners player to be linked with a move to Italy this weekend; Fiorentina declared their interest in Emmanuel Eboue earlier today.

Stephen Donaldson, Goal.com

thin about it! I know he is inaccurate and wasteful, but a loan deal? Wouldn't that be good? We risk little if he fails, yet we gain so much if he becomes the eplayer everyone tips him to become......

Bendtner on loan is worth the risk. We may still lose 1-2 million pounds. We were after him earlier (1 years ago may be). He has shown his worth with the Danish NTs and Arsenal youth.

Still Trez would be my first choice. We already have a Bendtner-like player in Zigoni.

No excuse. Just don't post here then.

About Bendtner... Actually I don't believe this rumor at all. Tuttosport, you know... And I'm certainly not happy if the rumor is true. No Bendtner, please, he's just... below standards.

Interesting. I did not see Zigoni in a match yet, for all of you who have watched him, what kind of player he is? And is he worthy enough for first-team place so we don't need to buy another striker? Because maybe that's the management's plan... Cheap option.

Not as good as Alberto Paloaschi at this stage, so should be loaned out next year. Still, he uses his psace dangerously and looks threatneing at times.....

nah, if we can get a loan for bendtner i think that would be super. he has more experience than ziggy it gives us a tall target man that is used to playing in a physical league to keep dzeko's roster spot warm until next season. this would be a really solid move

I think 15 mln would do the trick or anything close to that..cuz i remember juve buying his half for 7.5 mln 2 years back and now genoa has his half for 5.5 mln..Criscito would be a solid LB but we need a wingback..criscito doesn't attack much but i wouldn't say no to him..

In my eyes i see criscito as A CD in a few years...

he has played well as a mid for Genoa when he needed to, i think he could handle a wing role. and for 15 mil i say we get it done, throw oddo, or janku, or antonini in for less money if it is possible

Antonini certainly shouldn't be gotten rid of right now. He's one of the few wingbacks so far that has actually done relatively well under Leo.

Quite honestly, we need to replace Oddo and Kaladze in this squad with decent players, and our defence would be massively better for the new season.

Right now I think for the new season we should be looking to play something like...

--------------------Abbiati--------------------
Zambro-------Nesta-------Thiago------New LB-
------------Rino--------------Flamini-----------
---------------------Pirlo----------------------
----------Dinho--------------------------------
------------------------------Pato-------------
--------------------New CF--------------------

We've seen that we need to attacking wingbacks for the new season to add width. Right now Zambro's the best option we have, with Antonini another possibility. However, we're really lacking in this department and this is what I think Leo wants for the new season for the defence.

The midfield needs players who can cover a lot of ground. We've seen in the friendlies Flamini's dynamism and ability to push up, which is really good for our attacking play. Seedorf can also play this role, but not consistently now. We still need a midfielder to cover which Rino is perfectly suited for. Pirlo is naturally our playmaker.

Dinho should play in the middle right, drifting into wide areas and generally given freedom to move across the field. Essentially, I think to get the best out of him, we need to give him the freedom to determine the areas during the match where he's best of use, with request of his movement being constant, never static.

Pato wants to play as a second striker and I say we let him. Quite frankly, in this role it's obvious he's better starting on the left given his performances in the last 2 years, in a role where he's got chances to cut into the area. Essentially, his role wouldn't be too different to a Sheva in his early days or Henry during his time in Arsenal.

Finally, we need a new forward. Pippo if 10 yrs younger would be perfect, but obviously we can't rely on him all season and there are many questionmarks about Borriello. We need a player who Pato can play off of, but obviously can act as the point of our attack.

The general consensus is the new side will be built around Dinho. I say screw that completely and build our attack around Pato, building to his strengths.

I say don't put your eggs in the one basket. leo must have a list and plans in place if either player fails this season, through injury or form.....

I don't think we can judge Borri solely on his pre-season form. Neverthless, our original plans and what should be done is to get a new foward who has the physicue and attitude to be the center of the attack. Obviously Pato and Pippo aren't those sort of players.....
As for the wing-back situation, Oddo should leave and in come another player.... I am confident Antonini can play LB with Zambro on the right. Remember Flamini and what he can do there as well if worst come to worse!

Honestly, I think we are wasting our time dreaming about a new forward. Too expensive for MGT. A LB however could happen!

Being realistic I say the line-up would be the same as yours bar the inclusion of Gatusso as a starter (Ambro in there) and a new CF. Most likely the LB we get won't be up to the standard of Antonini, as he would be too inexperienced and young AT THIS STAGE......

Report: Julio Cruz Heads For Roma
‘El Jardinero’ is reportedly set to pen a one-year deal with the Eternal City club...

After weeks of uncertainty over his future, Argentine hitman Julio Cruz seems to have made up his mind and his new destination will be Roma, according to Sky Sport 24.

The Argentine is expected to sign a one-year contract, with an option for a further season on wages of €1.8million a year.

Cruz would join the Giallorossi on a free transfer, as his contract with Italian champions Inter expired in June.

The ex-Bologna man rejected a lavish proposal from Greek side Panathinaikos last month, insisting he was keen on staying in the peninsula, and it was suggested he had narrowed down his choice to Lazio and Napoli, who were reportedly prepared to meet his demands for a two-year deal.

But Roma eventually barged in and are now expected to finalise the transfer over the next few hours.

this is good for Roma. Only a one year contract and free? Perfect!

GIven the conditions and the kind of player on offer, milan should have inquired..... Trezegeut is overrated financially in both wages and transfer fee, and will prpbably demand a two year contract....

Huntelaar available for only £10 million?!? Seems like a bargain. Not so sure about Bale though, I find it hard to believe that he's anywhere near good enough.
