I thought we played better against Club America without Pirlo, then we did against Inter (with him). Quite frankly, if he doesn't up his game considerably, I wouldn't mind selling him and playing with 2 solid defensive midfielders, 2 attacking midfielders, and 2 strikers.

I totally agree with Gatusso's comments about the fatc that we need a LB and a CF now to compete for honours.....

AC Milan’s new era has gotten off to an extremely shaky start, after they lost all three games in the World Football Challenge in the United States, including Sunday night’s painful 2-0 defeat to Inter.

One of their former stars, Andriy Shevchenko, back in Chelsea following his loan spell with the Rossoneri last season, has advised the Serie A giants to strengthen the team.

“I think that Milan have to regenerate their team, but they’ve also played three games in six or seven days, which is very difficult for them and their squad because they have many young players,” he told Goal.com after Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Club America in the same tournament.

“Milan need time, but the fans have to believe in this team because they are a big name.

“And I believe that Leonardo is a good manager. He’s a very good guy and he can do something very big for Milan in the future.”

In regards to the news that Chelsea captain, John Terry has decided to pledge his future to the Blues, Sheva told Sky Sports, “He has to stay. The captain is the most important player in the team, and he has to stay and finish his career in this club.”

This recent loss could be a cloud with a silver lining.....

From recent friendly performances, our holes were perfectly exposed and revealed to all including the coach. However, since the losses weren't too bad, MGT chose to ignore with the thought of improvement as we went on in the tournament. now that we have lost 2-0 to our bitter rivals Inter, there can be no way MGT can ignore the situation at hand. To not even go ahead an purchase ELano and a LB at the LEAST would mean Galliani and Berlu are very stingy and brave, or very stupid! I think it is probably a mixture.....

You hit the very essence

Edit: To me.......only Nesta, Thiago, Zambro, Flamini, Gattuso and Pato are good enough.
That's: 2 defenders, 2 midfielders and 1 striker.
The rest of the squad needs to be filled with new quality. But of course, that's highly unlikely.

...also, we'll see which ones of the youngsters are good enough

Fiorentina Looking To Secure Arsenal’s Eboue And Benfica’s Luisao In Next 48 Hours - Report

Following the high-profile sale of Felipe Melo, it seems like Pantaleo Corvino is working overtime as he looks to complete Fiorentina’s summer transfer campaign in the coming days.

As the Viola remain in negotiations for Arsenal’s Emmanuel Eboue, the Viola’s director of football is hoping to secure the goods within 48 hours as he looks to beat Manchester City to the Ivorian full-back.

According to FirenzeViola.it, Corvino is ready to turn attentions back to Benfica’s Luisao following a negative assault on Roma’s Brazilian stopper, Juan. The Viola’s own press agency has recently reported a positive agreement between the club and player, but in reality it seems the difference between Fiorentina’s offer and Benfica’s demands is still in the region of €4 million.

With the upcoming Champions League preliminaries fast drawing near, the Viola will be determined to secure their defensive targets as they look to complete the squad for a testing season ahead.

Stefano Federici, Goal.com

Now Fiorentina? When will MGT finally get some sense and bid seriously.......?

Want to make more money. Avoid missing out on champions LEague again fools!

Looks like Huntellaar is our target now, after Leonardo' s words after the match.

Milannews are saying that Huntellaar recieved Leonardo's blessings, and Milan is the only club that can give an economic guarantee to the player's request: 3.5 million.
This is because Arsenal jumped back from the ex Ajax player as the player has not convinced Wenger enough.

Its gonna b a long summer, and an even longer season.

The only good news so far, is that the losses (and my, what a lot of them!) Have come at a point where:
a) they really don't matter and
b) @ a time where something can actually b done about it.

Its glaringly obvious that we lack depth throughout the squad, from goalkeeper right up to CF....and if we are even to challenge for a "top 3" spot, we will need some purchases....well, obvious to many of us here, the players, and the coach, but maybe not so B&G...

A team that only needs a "few adjustments" doesn't lose/draw so many pre-season games, regardless of the quality of the opposition....not when we are supposed to be a team that will b competitive in the Serie A and Europe.

Our coach is also (yes its early days) looking a bit naive, especially vs Mourinho and Carlo (2 very experienced coaches I will admit), and in the highly tactical Serie A, this is also of great concern.

Look for a coaching change in Jan, if not before, if we end up in the lower half of the table in November, which is where I see us, especially if we don't make the necessary purchases in the mercato...

Its unfair to give Leonardo a team shorn of its best player, and no major reinforcements, and expect him to pull a "Guardiola"....but I'm sure he didn't walk into the job blindfolded either....

So yes, my optimisim level is @ an all-time low...the performance vs Inter just driving home to me the lack of quality and leadership in the current team...and does not auger well for the future.

That said, there is still time to fix it, let's hope that Mgmt actually do so, and don't ignore the obvious....

Actually, tbh, I don't think Mgmt are actually going to do anything, and my fears of relegation (well ok, not actual relegation to Serie B, though that is a worst case scenario obviously, maybe just out of Europe completely for 2011) are becoming more real, the longer the mercato goes without us making important signings....and I don't say we need superstars, just the "right" player for the right spot...

The quality of our crossing / service into the box for eg, is not good enough, even if we had Torres or Ibra on the receiving end...so its clear we need greater depth in the attack phase of the midfield, not to mention the glaring gaps in GK and defensive positions (LB).

Seeing Rosina go to Russia/Ukraine (for what, £6-8M?) just irks me bigtime, as he would be the perfect understudy for R80, who is yet to show the quality required of a player the entire team is to be built around...another eg of Berlu's ego overriding common sense...

Ah well...its still early days, but as I mentioned before, I don't see us being serious about quality additions that we so desperately need....

Wake up Berlu...time to spend some money on the team, and not on...well...u kno...."other" pursuits...

What about his transfer fee though! If his wages are so masisve, his fee from madrid better be in the 10-15 million region no more! As for the winger situation, I think Odo has shown he can battle it out with Abate, and thus stregnthen the team further by doing so.....

Milan Coach Leonardo: We Need To Strengthen
The Brazilian is not happy following the 2-0 loss to Inter, and he has asked for some new signings...

Milan coach Leonardo has bemoaned the club's lack of transfer activity, reminding vice president Adriano Galliani that he needs reinforcements.

The Brazilian coach saw his side lose again during their World Challenge tour. The Rossoneri crumbled 2-0 against Inter, Diego Milito scoring twice, leaving Leonardo with plenty to think about.

"We need a couple of players, we will see what happens," Leonardo told the media after the game.

With the team playing a fixture every two days, tiredness seems to have been a key factor in Milan's poor run.

"I don't like making up excuses. Nobody likes losing, especially against Inter. I have to say the organisation of this tournament wasn't the greatest," added the coach.

"We played three games in five days, but Inter prepared with plenty of time. We are tired and the game didn't go how we wanted.

"We must not criticise the team. Now we have to focus ahead and prepare for the new season."

Both our coach and one of our most important players have openly stated that we need reinforcements. If that isnt enough for Silvio and Galliani to get some players, I do not know what is. Maybe the humiliation of next season.....

Couldn't of summarised it better. If MGT don't get someone, they are either extremely brave and stingy and pure stupid. I believe it is a mixture!

It is funny how even the Coach and CO Captain is stating the team is not good enough. Wait a minute, won't that hurt the morale and confidence of the team? Why can't they be patient as there is still more than ONE month left in the transfer window?
Don't they have faith in the return of Nesta, Kala, Bonera, Borriello and Oddo or young players. Most importantly, Dinho and Mr. 4 Time CL winner whom they will lead Milan to Glory....

For real, it is really funny how Leo spoke out-that maybe b/c he just wants to state that the team is not as good as some think and beg everyone to drop their expectations.

As for Gattuso, feel sorry for him, as he took a huge paycut to stick with Milan in the promise that by taking a paycut, it allows the club to bring in players more easily. Thats going to happen....

The funny part is that if Milan actually offered, he would have stayed in Milan. And if thats the case, would he still made those statements about Milan need to reboot...
