Our main problem that makes me feel we won't be able to compete for Serie A again OR to compete for both Serie A and CL is the fact that our mercatos are only done of "we sell a player and replace him" (not always really in the same position) instead of "we add some quality players to our team".

Kaka' apart, I don't get the point in selling Pirlo if it is to replace him by Hernanes or whoever else ... It's not an improvement, it's "stagnation". The real improvement would be to keep Pirlo and get someone like Hernanes or D'Agostino or ..., that would add some depth to our squad, and it's clearly what we have lacked (I'm not too afraid about the quality of our first team despite our three defeats in a row and the departure of Kaka').

Bro, I beg to differ....

I watch Arsenal almost every single EPL/UCL/FA match they have played this past season, as both my sons are fans...and Bendtner has never impressed.

Poor touch, poor passing, poor decision making, poor finishing...why would we want an attacking version of Senderos?

Ultimately, we will have to agree to disagree, as I don't really want to waste "typing-energy" on that waste of space.

Every now and then, Wenger makes a mistake...and his most recent was Bendtner.

Not one Arsenal fan that I kno wants him to stay at the club...so why would should we want him? In truth, I prefer Boriello.

Nah warro, maybe Silvestre.

To me Nicklas will become a much better player than Ade who imo was a complete waste of space. I know a lot of people think he's rubbish but end of the day he was the 3rd/4th striker in Arsenal after Ade, RVP, Eduardo (when he was back), Vela so compare his stats with any 3rd/4th choice striker at United, Pool and Chelski - I read something like his goals ratio this season was the same as Berbatov who cost over 30 Million.

To top it off the guy is only 21, I think he has the potential to become a very good player and keeps his head on the ground and not do an Ade and let the money get to him.

I think Milan should have gone for Toure.

I generally agree with you on this, but if the right deal is struck I don't think selling Pirlo would be such a bad idea. He's still a player who can work some magic, but it's obvious he's on the downside of his career. Whatever Milan might get for him from Chelsea this summer, it will be twice what they could get for him next summer. So if Milan can parlay Pirlo into a couple of younger, more dynamic players (such as Hernanes or D'Agostino and a promising defender in the mold of Mancienne) and maybe get another solid addition (a Pizarro type) as well, I think that could be very beneficial in the long run.

The thing is, for whatever reason, Milan is being very careful with their money right now. Hopefully in a couple of years the purse strings will be open again, but for right now it's just something we have to live with and Milan must try to be creative in the market.

Yes, but being creative on the mercato by selling Pirlo for some other players (with no guarantee that they will be good playmakers) will also make us being uncreative on the pitch as the only creative player will be Ronaldinho (and Pato).
I'd prefer us keeping Pirlo and buying a young player with no experience (so not too expensive) but who has the qualities to potentially replace Pirlo or make the play for our team if needed sometimes ...

PS: If we don't want to spend a lot, which is the case, we need to buy young and potentially talented players who have everything to prove ...
PS1: It looks like it's already what we do ... for example Zigoni is a potentially talented player but he hasn't proved anything yet ...

Well, if Milan were to replace Pirlo with, say, D'Agostino, I don't think the level of creativity would go down that much. But I also think Milan is looking at things more in the long term than worrying about finishing any higher than 3rd this season. And I certainly think Mancienne fits into the category of a young, talented player who is ready to prove himself.

Gattuso will go on strike if Pirlo leaves.

Bendtner isn't that bad he creates a lot of opportunities on goal using his physicality and energy to keep the ball in the opposition half i would liken him to a more rubbish version of Kuyt. He had a good spell at birmingham scoring something like 11 goals in 40 appearances which is decent when players like tevez yakubu and carew averaging 15 goals in the same season.

I would prefer milan to have completed a deal for dzeko or fabiano those are the type of players that we need and also i would of liked milan to get lavezzi or david silva nevermind.

Well, it seems as though those of you who have been b1tching over the past few years about Milan having old players finally have the ear of Berlusconi.

Quote:
AC Milan president Berlusconi wants younger team

MILAN (AP) -AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has called on coach Leonardo to only target younger players in the transfer market.

Milan has been criticized in recent years for relying heavily on players older than 30, including Paolo Maldini, Clarence Seedorf and David Beckham.

Berlusconi told the ANSA news agency on Tuesday that the team "will look for players who are under 23.''

He did not specify whether that would affect Beckham's chances of rejoining the team following the end of the MLS season. Beckham reluctantly returned to the Los Angeles Galaxy following a loan stint with Milan, and has said he wants go back to Italy.

If you take Nicklas out and put in Senderous. Thats what a lot of us said after the loan deal.

So I guess all those Dzeko lover can say goodbye to him as he will be over 23 next year.

As for Cissohko, i am sure he lied about his age in his passport, hint the dental records actually say he is 32 and not 21. Thats why he will not be fit to play 50% of Milan games next season and nobody would pay 15mil for a 32 yrs old FB, right.

Yes , definitely so, spot on.

Any way, Leonardo just countered Silvio saying that young people arent enough. They are good for future plans, but for the current season we need more.
