Goalkeeper Marco Storari Out To Prove His Worth At Milan
The shot-stopper made a rare appearance against Boca yesterday and hopes to move up the pecking order next season.

Marco Storari
Marco Storari has returned to Milan this summer after spending last season on loan with Fiorentina, and he hopes to impress new boss Leonardo, who handed him the gloves last night as Milan lost to Argentine side Boca Juniors on penalties in the Audi Cup.

With first-choice Christian Abbiati still recovering from knee ligament surgery and Nelson Dida also sidelined, Storari has been left to fight it out with Australian stopper Zeljko Kalac for a place in the starting XI.

“I am happy with the way things are going,” the net-minder told the club’s official website.

“I am also partially surprised because this is a great opportunity that Milan are giving me. I am here because of Abbiati’s setback and now, due to Nelson [Dida]’s problem, I am among the top two [goalkeepers].

“The club knows my objective - there are four of us and it’s fair to have a pecking order. I don’t know where I stand right now, but I hope not to be the fourth choice.”

Storari could now be in line for a starting role against Inter in an unusual Derby della Madonnina at the end of August.

“It’s too early to talk about that,” he said. “But seeing as it will only be the second match day, anything can happen.”

what is the future for Milan it is plainly obvious that Berlusconi children are more than willing to sell the club they are completely alien to the concept of investing cash into football. i would prefer the fans being able to have the cash to buy the club even if they didn't have the financial resources at least any revenues would be used for players transfers.

Thats b/c shtty can only attracts second grade players thinking themselves as first grade players while Milan with unlimited funds can actually attract real first grade players.

Pirlo says goodbye
Friday 31 July, 2009
Andrea Pirlo has played his last game for Milan and will join Chelsea at the start of next week, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

A meeting has apparently been scheduled at Milan's headquarters in Via Turati where the deal will be ratified.

It is as yet unclear how much Milan will receive for Pirlo, though initial reports suggest Chelsea will pay £21m over two years.

Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro and England Under-21 defender Michael Mancienne are also likely to form part of the deal, the latter arriving on a one-year loan.

The deal is said to suit Milan Coach Leonardo who has been desperately looking for a striker all summer. Pizarro appears to be the answer to his problems.

Pirlo is expected to sign a three-year contract worth £2.1m a year.

If the transfer goes through, Pirlo will be reunited with his former mentor Carlo Ancelotti, who made him one of his first signings for Milan in 2001.

Its great they decided to sell now when we lost all the possible players. Aldough, I dont believe it will happen. BUT, Ferrero has extremly tastefull chocolates! And my friend works for them also!

On CB's: Juve took Caceres for 0 euro with an option to buy. I know he is not top class, but he is way better player then Onyewu, who is always showing that excapt phisical power he lacks what is needed to be top defender. Caceres is young and has a season in Barcelona, for sure he is a better CB then our man. Galliani also missed in here, as always.
Caceres is bad, really bad... He's so bad that when Barcelona had all their CB's injured/suspended, except for Pique and Caceres, Guardiola decided to play Yaya Toure as a CB instead.

Honostly sometimes I feel like people would praise Inter/Juventus if they bought Titus Bramble or Gabriel Heinze...

Anyways, something is going on at the top of Milan. Whatever it is they better sort it out fast though, so we can buy some players!

We'll see how Caceres will do, and how Onyewu will do.

Caceres has far more potential than Onyewu, and can play in all positions of defense.....

Whether it's called a deficit or not doesn't make a huge difference. These clubs are running without being able to sustain themselves. The fact that they all rely on patrons pumping money into the organisation to keep the side competitive isn't good business practice, it's not even adequate.

The reason football is in the state it's in now, with stupidly inflated market values is because these owners (Berlu included) have spent without thinking of the health of the organisation, which is more than just success on the field.

The current approach Milan are taking is correct, in that clubs as businesses should be capable of self-sustainance. I don't agree with our approach to achieve this, as we're just suddenly stopping investment to maintain a healthy financial state (at least for the short term). Instead, we should evolve the organisation, redeveloping and investing more in the youth sector, yet looking to maintain competitiveness for a number of years.
