Next game on the 8th of August 2009 against Benfica.

After one complete week of training and preparation, we should see a better Milan. If not, then we will really have to worry ... but the US tour and this Audi Cup were useless, let's say it was a good physical preparation.

Agreed.

Great part of our pitiful preseason was due to playing 6 games in two weeks (or something like that).

The boys should play much better vs Benfica on the 8th, and as said, if they dont, then it would be clear that we are in deep sh*t.

Then we have the Trofeo Luigi Berlusconi on the 17th.

EDIT: the Trofeo TIM is on the 14th.

ISn't the TIM CUP in Beijing this year? Or was my info wrong?

Anyhow, personally, I want Milan to lose big against Benfica as I see that as the only way Berlu will spend money on the squad.

Preseason friendlies are worth it only when properly structured...and i believe the pre season that Milan have been through so far has not done much other than just bringing down the morale that was in 'em if there was any in the first place. N i dont this break we ve got is going to help us perform any better against Benfica. N like some of ull have mentioned b4 it would be better if Milan lost n hopefully then we may see Berlu digging his pockets. Hopefully. Still keeping my fingers crossed.

The TIM CUP is the Coppa Italia.
The TROFEO TIM is the friendly tournament, where Milan, Juve & Inter play against each other 45mins each game.

You are thinking of the Supercoppa Italiana (SUPERCOPPA TIM), which is occasionally played abroad (Juve-Milan of 2003 was played in the United States).. this year infact, the match (Inter-Lazio) will be played in Beijing.

The TROFEO TIM, btw, will be played in Pescara.

Portugal, here we come !!

Would be nice to see a mix between our best players and the younger ones/new ones (not Huntelaar as he won't be ready of course) instead of one half with the best players and then all replacing them by the younger ones.

Something like: Antonini - Onyewu - Thiago Silva - Zambrotta to start in defence, then replaced by Oddo - Nesta - Bonera - Albertazzi ... for example.

Anyway, this game should be an indication on the physical condition of our players as well as the current level of some of them (especially Ronaldinho, Pato and Borriello).

There's a preview on www.goal.com

Check out Benfica's probable lineup:

Probable Starting XI (4-4-2): Julio Cesar; Ruben Amorim, Luisao, Sidnei, David Luiz; Javi Garcia, Ramires, Pablo Aimar, Di Maria; Javier Saviola, Oscar Cardozo.

Aimar, Saviola, Di Maria, Ramires... Just about every 'next big thing' to come out of South America in the last 10 years

Anyways, let's hope for some magic from Pato and Dinho this time!

Why Oddo's farewell game?

Because he's close to joining Lazio in a swap deal with De Silvestri. Of course it depends on when the deal will be sealed, but it will probably be during next week.
I'm pretty confident that he will be gone before the 22nd when we play our first game of the new season against Siena.
