In this formation my friend you composed the least defensive and the most static midfield in the history of football.

3 CMs and an AMC is not the asnwer either.

He has passed his physical and it looks like he will be available for the August 17th match against Juve (Berlusconi Cup). This is good news as it seems he should be ready to go from the 1st minute when we take on Siena in the opener. 15 days till kickoff, but who's couting...

Yet football is not an exact science. Look at the overall picture and you'll see 2 good wd, 2 good cd, 3 capable mids in terms of possession, a quick creative forward, a goal poacher, and only R80 has some doubts based on mentality. I think the more technical Milan is the better we can compete esp in Europe.

I agree, but I also believe that Flamini is needed there...

Pirlo Flamini Hernanes

this is more balanced, best at holding possesion, very creative, great at long and short balls.

I cant believe we can have this midfield with only investing smth around 10-15 mil. and weare not going for that. Only barca possibly has better midfield than this.

Seedorf,Ambro,Rinho,Abate as subs. This is depth IMO.

Let me dream for a sec.

-----------Abbiati-------------
Zambro-Nesta--T.Silva-Antonini
--Pirlo---Flamini----Hernanes--
----------Dinho-------------
------Pato----Huntelar------

I know that the LB spot is very sensitive atm. But a LB that are available atm can only give us nothing more than better defensive qulities than Janku and Antonini. On the other hand if we get Hernanes, he can be seriously give us a extra push for the scuddeto.

Seedorf is considered a forward by our officials, we all know he is more of a midfielder but to see him as an defensive midfielder is one step to far .

Considering our mercato we should ask ourselfs are we stronger than last year? At this moment I still would say no.
important players out: Maldini, Kaka, Sheva

important players in: Huntelaar, Silva, Onyewu

Last year wasn't good so we need to do better. Is it possible with our current squad?

At this moment it depends of Dhino and Nesta can they play on a consistent level than I can see us playing better than last year. If one of them or both of them fails/is injured most of the year then. We 'll do (much) worse...

We have our new striker and our central defence has been rejuvenated, our defensive midfielders are also ok but everywhere else we could use another player.
-A goalie probably next year,
-a fullback, everyteam has a shortlist so who was next after Aly Cissoko?
-and a creative forward/midfielder that Hernanes should be our main objective
we still have a non Eu spot left. (silva took one, Onyewu has a Belgian pasport) How much would he cost?

What do you guys think of De Silvestri?
He's same age as Cissohko, I've heard good things about him.

Thoughts?

De Silvestri was really good for his club (especially in the Champions League against Real Madrid), and for the Italy youth team.

but apparently he has been benched and wants out of Lazio.
does anyone know why he has been benched?

He was benched because Stephan Lichtsteiner performed better than him in last half of last season. Still, I'd be happy we got someone who looks like to be held in high regard by some fans, one of Italy's most potential youngsters, and also get rid of Oddo.

There is a very good reason why we would have 3 defensive mids. They have to shoulder the burden of having a system that relies on very attack-minded full-backs, plus Ronaldinho, Pato, and Huntelaar also have to be supported in the system.

In La Liga, considering how open things are, it is very easy for Barca to play in the style they did last year. When they played in Europe, they played far more compact and with Henry and Messi, they had guys who would run for the team, where as in Ronaldinho and Pato we don't.

So, if we have to shoulder such a burden, it is necessary to field a more defensive midfield, because otherwise, we will not be able to enforce and hold onto possession through the center, and we also will not be able to recover defensively when our full backs are pushed forward, losing advantage through our shifting priorities.

I think Seedorf can play a important role this season, but I think Flamini and Gattuso will be starting on either side of Pirlo this year.
