is it just me, or is Antonini's coming on been huge? He's opened up the left side for Pato and has been very dangerous. He's made a bigger impact than Dinho!! Sad but also good at the same time

If i can guess correctly this is when we should start to shine a bit. We have more stamina for the long haul.

I'm streaming it and they are at commercial. Are they playing extra time or right to the spot?

Antonini was much better defensively then he has been before, Favalli was solid on the left side, but offered little in terms of attack, which was fine, because Janku was supposed to be the guy to offer that attacking talent.

Janku was terrible, and I mean terrible.

Ronaldinho was so closely marked it wasn't even funny. This is where Gattuso and Flamini should be, helping him out, but he had very little support. He had a 40 yard ball that was amazing to Borriello, who let it go bye.

In fact, Ronaldinho did a lot of small little passes that freed up a lot of space, only for Borriello, to continuously lose possession, trip over his own feet, or when Borriello even would pass back, it would be a weak hospital ball, terrible.

That being said, Borriello all most won the game at the death for us, but his shot was a little too high.

I was debating whether Borriello was just not good enough or low on confidence or rusty. It seems he's really low on confidence and rusty. He's trying to do too much, and he's beating up on himself between shifts, and every time he gets the ball, he seems scared that he's going to do something bad. It's not a good period for him. He needs a goal to restore his confidence, that is abundantly clear.

Zambrotta was awesome today. Nesta and Thiago Silva seem to be a great pairing. Sure, Thiago and Favalli might have been out-jumped for the goal, but the way that the attack let the defense down today, it was really only a matter of time. The only midfielders who even offered support were Abate and Pirlo, and Pirlo played well today, considering he was forced to actually play as a true defensive midfielder.

Pato lost the ball quite a few times, but, it seemed that once Antonini offered some sort of outlet on the left side, it freed up things. All of our creativity was on the right, and wasted on Borriello. Ronaldinho was without someone to back him up, and Janku was literally invisible. But that play at the end for Pato was awesome, it was an own goal for Benfica, but if the defender didn't get to it, Borriello would have.

I'm glad that we are playing a lot better, especially in defense. Pirlo is playing well, Abate is playing incredible, and Ronaldinho needs to play from the start, that is abundantly clear. Huntelaar will also put the chances Borriello had away, and there were early chances that he could have put away, to put the game in a different tone.

I honestly think a midfield of Abate--Pirlo--Flamini could be our new starting midfield three, and I really think that maybe Antonini might void the need for a new LB, because if he played like he did today, consistently, I would have to say that we seem to be a pretty complete squad. If I had to start a squad for the opener, I'd have to put out this team:

That is a very good team, honestly, but, I have a feeling that Flamini will take Abate's spot, and Seedorf will take that left side of our midfield three. There needs to be more creativity from our midfield, or, if Abate and Flamini play, it will hopefully give more license for Pirlo to play forward, rather than have to clear up the defensive mistakes caused by our attack.

Pirlo was like the best player on a bad team, he was forced to do things he shouldn't have to do, and it was painful watching him have to clean up Janku, Di Gennaro, and Borriello's continual mistakes. Those three players really held Milan back, and I think we have a lot to look forward to with our real starting XI.

LOL WOW.. This is going to be a stressful year MAYBE.. LOL. Im still laughing cuz its pre season. but man our pks were a mess.
