Not to be an ass, but Fabio Cannavaro was straight swapped with Fabian Carini from Inter to Juventus.

Furthermore, I don't think it's fair to say Thiago Silva has been way below par. His physicality has allowed Nesta a lot more ease in his defending, and Silva has shown himself to be excellent in dealing with break aways and one-on-one situations. He seems to be a great foil for Nesta.

I have been a huge fan of Santacroce (I said we should be buying him years ago, literally) but while I acknowledge those who say we could play him as RB for a year, but, he doesn't push forward well enough to be the sort of RB we need.

Like you said, Christian, we do have an obscene amount of CB's. The only way that Santa would come to Milan is if we sold Kaladze, possibily included Bonera in the deal for Santa and that way, he'd fight for second-choice next to Nesta.

I think he'd easily be worth closer to 15 million than 6. I wouldn't be surprised by a 12 million fee, he's highly regarded for good reason. I don't think he'll move until next summer, not to one of the big teams, not because of his quality, they are going to see how he responds to being in the limelight now. Napoli has spent big, how will he preform? Teams are waiting to see how he reacts, that is pretty typical of Italian clubs, and sometimes it means you miss out on a target, but, at the same time, when you do decide to invest, you know what you're getting.

The ideal situation for us right now would be if we did sell off Kaladze, brought in Santa as a replacement, and negotiated Van Der Vaart at a cut-throat price so we can sit him on the bench :P

I don't see the Santa deal working for us though. Napoli's owner hates our guts (or so someone mentioned), and more likely than not, would sell to Juve than to us (and thats IF they wanted to sell).

Christian:

Campagnaro was signed by Napoli for 8 million euros + Co-ownership of Mannini, which equals to around 11 million euros. (Manini was bought by Napoli for around 7 million euros)

Considering Santacroce's age and high quality, he is certainly more expensive than Campagnaro. So from a business perspective, Santacroce's sale should get Napoli more money than the cash (plus co-ownership value) spent on Campagnaro. So in my opinion his price would be in between 12-14 million euros. This is also considering the fact that Madrid, Juve and Fiorentina have shown interest in him.

If we were to sign him for cash + Kaladze, then I would certainly go boing boing in my house; but sadly we just bought Silva and Onyewu and our priorities are different.

VDV may be a great backup for Dinho, if each of them play 30 games per season then it's solved.

man for god sake even inter fans have respect for materazzi, can you at least show some respect for your captain. i really suspect someone's love to milan if he speaks about our captain. just to tell you something you don't know ambrosini salary is a peanut compared to kaladze, dida and seedorf .
one more point. pato is already 20 if we offer him 4 mil a year next time he wants to renew his contract "say in 2 years" he will want 5. so after 4 years you are willing to sell him because you can no longer afford him.

VDV is a great addition to our squad. he will have his spot in the starting 11 and ronnie will be motivated so much so he will lose his spot for him.

Berlu is talking out of his old bony ass as always, really,**** him big time. I would choose Sneijder anyday over VDV,but if we get VDV i would be very happy,he could not only play in the AM position of Dinho,he could easily replace Pirlo at the playmaker role,he is a very complete player with an awsome shop. But he has one negative point,if you bench him to often then he will get a bit mad and complain.

I know how Berlu is, just sarcasm from me.

But yes I would like Snjeder too but would not complain about VDV, he is still 26 years old and a good player.

Robben, Drenthe, and Higuain were amazing today...I'd be happy with any one of them....Sneijder wasn't that good but he wasn't bad either

drenthe is the best option for us to get. as he is the cheapest one, and though he is horrible defensively he can play leftback, and any other position on the left side.

i dont want neither of them, especcially vdv,i think he d be lost in italy..he is so overrated,he needs all the medfield working for him so as to be effecient..although i am curious if he could play seedorf's role..

i dont think snejder is the right one too,he would have to play on kaka's role, and that cant be done..we also cant fit dinho-hunter-pato-snejder all together or else we d be cut in 2..

Did anyone know about the dude with a semi-fro/curly hair playing for Benfica yesterday? He was playing on the left midfielder role. Was he Fábio Coentrăo?

He looks pretty dangerous with speed and decent ball control. I am not saying Milan needs to pick him up yet, but he definitely caught my eyes although I was able to catch the last 15 mins of the game.

Anyone knows much about this dude? Thanks.

Warro, you know I respect you a great deal but this is really unfair. Leo's been in the job for a month or so, with less than half of that time to actually spend training with the squad and get them used to his ideas. That's on top of the fact the club itself is in a mess and the coach isn't getting the reinforcement he's been requesting.

Do we really need to spend on a center back when we desperate need a creative midfielder? I don't think so. Maybe we can think about it if Kaladze and Favalli or Nesta were to leave.

Vargas's 15 million euros price was set when Fenerbahce wanted to buy him but he did not agree to the move. Fiorentina have also said that if Vargas were to leave they would bring in Drenthe. Drenthe certainly wouldn't cost 15 million euros and so wouldn't De Silvestri, as the respective clubs of both the players want to sell them; Then why should we spend that amount?

My argument was never about pitching Bonera below Kaladze. Bonera can team up with Nesta very well and so would Kaladze. However, Bonera would be my choice above Kaladze.
You're making assumptions over Santacroce's value, which is far greater than what's been suggested up until now. I'm not saying you're wrong, and I'd value him around a similar price, but we shouldn't discount there is a possibility of getting him for less (especially given rumours until now and recent comments by Napoli's president). Also yes, I believe we need to replace Kaladze in our squad, I really feel it's a vital area for us given the risks we're taking with both Nesta and Thiago as starters. I've said from the very start I want to see this and I really think we made a mistake of getting Onyewu.

Fenerbache were willing too overpay for Vargas quite frankly. His market value in theory shouldn't have increased in the last year. He's definitely not double what he was worth a year ago.

Sorry for misunderstanding you about Kala and Bonera.

I like both bits of news. Hopefully they become true.

VdV, Huntelaar, a new FB, plus Thiago Silva and a *knock on wood* healthy Nesta................I'm dreaming...................
Good news in general. Van Der Vaart would apparently be a loan deal with an option to buy, so that wouldn't be too bad, though I don't see him as more than a squad player at most. We're also apparently after a midfielder from Torino, forgot his name but it's something like Dzemali.
