If Kaladze moves we would have five CB's: Nesta,T.Silva,Onyewu,Bonera and Favagol. This is enough as Nesta seems to be staying fit.

I think the money of KK sale will be reinvested in a fullback, wich is great because its like we got 4 million for free.

Hey Dutchie whats up?

We should already have enough money to buy a good full back wihtout the Kala sale..... Instead, buy another devloping CB with that money. Trust me, five Centre backs is never enough for Milan over the "wear and tear" of the season, as proven by recent history......

B.T.W, Zanetti of Juve just moved to Fiorentina!
Juve's defense continues to come under question and depends on how the inconsistent Carcares performs.....

Of course we have plenty of problems, but this is just another which could be very troublesome. It's the same as in CB to some degree. If Nesta isn't able to stay fit this season and/or Thiago isn't a great success, then our backup is inadequate imo. Our squad has so many weaknesses like this in all areas it's quite disturbing.

2 Quality CB's might work, but a club like Milan really should have 3. Like back when we had Stam, Maldini and Nesta. It's true that we should focus on getting a FB first, but if we really want to be competitive then we need one more quality CB aswell. Carvalho maybe, Inter offered 6(!) M euro's for him AND Deco. Seems like he would be pretty damn cheap, he's old, but I still consider him as one of the best CB's in England.

I also agree with the posters that said we should play with 1 CM for the most part. We really haven't had alot of succes with 2 DM's, at least in Italy. Seems to me that Hernanes would be the best bet, something like Flamini - Pirlo - Hernanes, would do the job.

Like every seaosn, we go into the campaign with our defense in a questionable state.... Now with Champions league, expect more injuries! No pessimism, just realism! The recruitment of a full-back is vital not just for tactical reasons, but fitness problems that will arise as well!

i see this attempt to buy an amc as lack of trust and belief in dinho(i can see why)..but we have gr8er needs, like a lb or a cb..

i am also confident that we should play both rino and flamini..hunter makes dinho's and pato's life easier.pato will draw back,in a more free role dinho will take the left side, and pirlo will have the space and time that he needs(as he wouldnt have to be that focused on his defence)..so we'll have 3 creative players(pato included) and if dinho is not inform, wehave seedof too..

we have to reinforce our backs,or else we'll have the usual problems..

Hunterlaar hardly creates though. In my opinion, we need someone "fast" in our mid..... let's face it, we don't really have any "fast" players in our midfield..... Perhaps Antonini (prefers LB), but is everyone forgetting Abate? I am excited about this youngster!

And yes, full-back is priority, just in case, and most likely, an injury occurs in our defnese somewhere, and we need depth...

De Laurentis will NOT like this at all:

http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/?action=read&id=165655

Santacroce is asking for a pay increase. De Laurentis has been quoted "I told my directors to get rid of some of the players"...

NOW, with Kaladze on his way out, can anyone think of a team who needs reinforcement in defense that pays good wages like no one else??

What was the reason that it didnt work the last seasons, that we looked so predictable, not good in attack and one-dimensional?Its because of Carlo, simple.

He played like this:

-----Pirlo-----
Rhino-----Ambro

OF COURSE ITS A FAILURE THEN IF YOU SET IT UP LIKE THIS!

The problem was that Pirlo was way too deep lying in midfield so nobody could contribute to our attack from midfield, except some long balls from Pirlo.Rhino and Ambro cant do the creative work and Pirlo could have done it but Carletto wanted him infront of defence so Pirlo couldnt help our attack. When we were 1-0 behind and Pirlo moved forward you could see directly that we were much better and creating more chances.

So the 2 DM's midfield system can work easy, but you have to play it like this:

Rhino----Ambro
-----Pirlo------

Pirlo in a free role so that he can guide the midfield and be the key between midfield and attack,he can help our attack more with his creativity, and Rhino and Ambro should be behind him to cover any mistakes.

So thats how its done, the DM's should be behind Pirlo and Pirlo should have a free role like he has now in Italy.
Man, this will NOT work. With a system like this, what do you think how many time will pass till Pirlo actually receive the ball?

Gattuso and Ambro are not the players you could put in front of defense, as simple as that. Pirlo can play further upfront for Azzuri because he has De Rossi behind him. Pirlo must be in front of defense so he could receive the ball as soon as possible, and when he receives it he can pass it and go further upfront to join attack, leaving Gattuso or Ambrosini or both behind him. That's the solution. And that's how Pirlo played until the last season. What's critical in this system is that Gattuso is in the team. Without Gattuso, Pirlo is limited going upfront, and that's what really happened last season. There's no DM in the world (let alone Milan) who can cover the same amount of space like Gattuso can, and that's the key here. And it was also the key in Italy's world cup win.

There's nothing wrong with our formation and Pirlo's position in it. It's Ancelotti who limited Pirlo going up. Whether it was right or wrong considering we had Beckham in the team, who's absolutely awful in defense, it's debatable. But, I assure you that there's nothing wrong with the formation. Remember, It's not what you do, it's HOW you do it.

Do not forget before last season Kaladze is one of our best defender. I'm not saying we should keep him, but if he were to go then it must be for a reasonable price.
