I would have preffered to keep Etoo over Ibrahimavich. 6 months difference in age doesnt equal 40m of difference.

One year left of his contract, no intention to renew/extend, free thereafter and will miss a few months to participate in African Cup of Nations. Yes, it is worth it.

Well, if he wasnt renewing then you are right. From a football point of view, I would prefer Etoo though.

Me to, Barca all the way (In Spain only!
)Said it before, I really can't see why anyone would prefer Eto'o over Zlatan... Zlatan was the top scorer in Serie A playing for Inter... Inter! The most creative players there being Stankovic and Maicon. Eto'o didn't even pick it up with Messi, Henry, Xavi, Daniel Alves and Iniesta feeding him chances. |

Quote:
Etoo hasnt only scored for Barca, he scored loads of goals for Majorca. Etoo has scored in two champions league finals. And when Inzaghi scored loads of goals, nobody lessened the achievement by putting it all down to the assists of Shevchenko, Rui Costa, Kaka, Pirlo and Seedorf.

Zlatan's 25 goals in Serie A with Inter is IMO more difficult to achieve than the 30 goals of Eto'o in La Liga with the arguably the world's most creative midfield and attacking partners. Like Christian said, Inter's team has NO creativity whereas Barcelona has an abundance of creativity in their team. Also when you consider that attackers get less space in Italy than Spain then Zlatan's achievements of last season > Eto'o.
I'm not discrediting Eto'o, as he has been performing at a higher level for longer than Zlatan. However, given the ongoing contract disputes and also considering that Zlatan offers a plan B for Barcelona (better at holding up the ball, to allow the other attackers to advance), Barca were right to exchange the two players. I do think they overpaid for Zlatan though, but if he helps them win trophies then the money would be recouped in no time. Interesting fact: In every team Zlatan has played since the 03-04 season, he has won the domestic championship. |

But of all the things..what about the adaptation to the systems? Eto'o was perfect for Barcelona's system, Zlatan was perfect for the lack of creativity of Inter. This ain't 1+1=2. Zlatan (who I believe has more football qualities than Eto'o) isn't a player that is going to wait for things to happen next to him in order to score, in fact except for last season, he has never shown great goalscoring abilities like Eto'o has (he scored goals, but at least in Serie A, he never hit, before last season, more than 17), and truth is, even if they create a lot of assists, except for Messi, the rest of Barcelona players aren't exactly goalscorers (hence why if you close down on them and prevent them from arriving to the area, they're likely to not score or do much harm, much like the Spain NT), Eto'o complimented perfectly for them.
Meanwhile, at Inter, unless they buy someone for the trequartista role, Eto'o is not going to be as great of a goalscorer as he was at Barcelona, Zlatan was their one and only source of creativity (which is part of the reason of their inability to pass the first knock out round of CL). That said, he is lucky that Inter has good fullbacks, that's going to make him still reach the 20 goal mark. |
