I mean if u think about it thats what barca did last year... brought in a new coach, promoted some youth (busquets), signed 1 star (dani alves) sold a star (ronnie) and signed a bunch of young or promising players to fill squad (pique, keita, hleb) to give them the depth they need.

My biggest fear is what happens when ron gets hurt? Even off form he's better than alternatives. What happens if pato goes down... a bori-hunt partnership is terrible in terms of creativity. what if pirlo gets hurt? And god forbid we lose silva or nesta. Injuries happen.... on top of 38 league matches a potential dozen more european fixtures u need a full squad. And while we may have 15 or 16 players i feel comfortable playing, we r razor thin at some important ones.... no trequarista or support striker depth, no good center backs after our starters.
I enjoy your post and all, but pls don't compare Milan to Barcelona anymore.
As there are really different. Messi was the top 5 players when Dinho left. Eto was one of the top strikers at that time. Most of the Barcelona team were hitting their prime or in their prime-Xavi, Pugol, Inesta. Whereas Dinho is really not the top 5 players today, most of the team are either at the end of their prime or falling from their prime-Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso. Pato is good but like you said, if he gets injured, Milan will lose the only one who has speed up front and can dribble pass defenders.

I am really impressed with the way Abate played... seriously. I think a good coach can make a world class player out of him. We will see how good Leonardo is.

Besides that the team looked really well. The players just lacked some match day sharpness, which they will have a couple games into the season. If the squad stays injury free and can progress, I think we can safely challenge for the scudetto.

The thing that gives me hope is that we actually have some options with this team. If Ronnie is out, we can figure something out with the Abate - Pirlo - Flamini midfield. I wouldn't mind another full back and another midfielder, but I think we got off to a good start.

Euro Super League

I know this seems to be off topic, but if there is such a league, Milan will be spending more money. So it is related to Transfer, well sort of.

Personally, I am torn. On one hand, it will be a league show casing the best talents in football. On the other hand, it is hurting the National League.

Really played better last night than any other pre season game. But berlu saying the market is closed is a bit worrying I know they say these things all the time. But it looks like they are true this time there is no rumours no stories at all. We looked good last night but Juve were not exactly great and are a bit overratted IMO.

To compete in Seire A and the CL we need a better squad there is some good players like Abate , Silva , Pato , Flamini ,Nesta but the rest are getting older slower and a tad past it. Berlusconi dosn't want to or cannot spend money thats fine. But stop saying we are the best team in the world when we are not even close.

Last nights game was good and we are good enough to get top 3. What happens when Pirlo , Gattuso and Co. get older and we have a squad of 8 players. The whole mercato disgusts me. We brought in 80 + million from transfers and spend 6.5 or so half of Huntelaars money.

Im sick of winning nothing or even challenging. Maybe I have been spoiled but a club Like Milan should be aiming higher and sort out the team.

I have two quick things to say. Don't ruin Abate by playing him at LWB, as his adpation time will just damage the team as well! He does well enough as a middie, and could be seriously be a starter.....
Also, we must get a LB before the closing of the transfer window, and no, don't include Abate in a deal with DeSilvestri!

Well Carlo is now saying that Serie A is easy compared to the EPL. Amazing seeing as in 16 years managing in Italy he only managed to win the easy league once.

He also says that only 2 or 3 teams can win in Italy but more can win in England. Now I know that new players and managers always say things to connect with fans.

But this is just lies only 2 teams can win in England Man Utd and Chelsea there is other ways to please fans like results , Instead of saying stupid things.

If Serie A is easy Carlo why in 8 years did you only win one league title with Milan.

He can't explain himself well in english, they took his words and spun them to please the new fans and turn his italian fans against him.

If Inter dont sign a creative midfielder then they will be ****ed badly, especially by us in the derby game, with them already lacking serious creativity in midfield, and also there only playmaker and creative man injured,Cambiasso, they wont get the ball in the back of the net in like a million years.

They only have T.Motta as the creative force, and only relying on him is a big joke,Muntari,Stankovic,Vieira, the have nobody who can spread the play and feed the strikers, they will struggle even more then us this season if they dont sign a proper midfielder, its rumoured that they are close to Sneijder,i hope its not true,if they dont sign him then they are in big trouble, every club in Serie A with some creativeness in them can outclass Inter on creative level,so they have BIG issues.

Juve have a not worthy Scudetto contenders defense. There wingbacks are even worser then those of Roma(Cicinho and Riise are way better then Grygera and.....Molinaro)and Canna and Chiellini seem a good pair on paper, but everybody could see they miss that understanding between them since the Confederations Cup,they are weak on the flanks and you could easily cause havoc in the middle because Chiellini and Canna cant work together just yet.

We are not the only ones who are having serious troubles,we also have big issues of course, but i think that those of Juve but especially Inter are also something to think about.

I have to say, while Janku might have played well today, I'm not confident that he will continue to play that well the entire season. I kind of wish that Flamini would just play RB for this season, and Zambro played LB, and then we could play a midfield of Abate--Pirlo--Gattuso.

Was it just me, or was Felipe Melo garbage? 21 million Euros, for what? I think Juve better pray for Sissoko to get healthy fast, Ronaldinho made Melo look like a fool today.

Regardless, I really think we need a FB. I think with Ambro and Seedorf yet to return, the midfield is going to take care of itself, especially with Flamini and Abate there to offer the sort of pace to help out Pirlo. I'd love to have a Pancaro-type player for this season, just so that next summer we can get some real additions.

I agree that Abate might be a good option for a FB, but, I hope he doesn't get stuck in that position. He is a great force in the midfield.

I just don't see why we can't even get some players on loan, why can't we grab a Marco Motta-type player on loan? Hell, I'd take Pasqual from Fiorentina on loan for this season.
i tottally agree this time..melo was crap yesterday honeslty, and he was bad at trofeo tim too..maybe he needs more time..but i think ferara is using him really wrong, melo is not just a defensive med,he can do a lot more than that..

anyway,it was the firts match i really liked abate, and the first i didnt like antonini..

pirlo was sth else yesterday, his passes were pure class,i really liked pato too(i know he made some mistekes, but this kid has a lot of guts),dinho was fine,i wish he was more consistent even during the match..

Despite Quaresma being a total flopp, he was originally brought in to try and improve Inter's creativeness and to be our "Kaka." He played alright at Chelasea on loan, and may come good.....

Milan Are Aiming For The Scudetto - Adriano Galliani
The Rossoneri dignitary believes Klaas Jan Huntelaar will help wrestle the Scudetto from Inter...
18 Aug 2009 12:01:44

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani believes the club are strong enough to challenge for the Scudetto this term.

Galliani saw his side emerge victorious from the Trofeo Berlusconi against Juventus on Monday night. The result appears to have helped increase his enthusiasm for the coming season.

"Last year were arrived equal to Juventus in second place and I think that we can challenge [for the Scudetto] this season as well," Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

Despite the win over Juventus, Il Diavolo have not enjoyed the best of pre-seasons. But Galliani feels Klaas Jan Huntelaar will make the difference following his arrival from Real Madrid.

"We have Huntelaar, and we believe he will score plenty of goals. Thiago Silva has also proved we have replaced Paolo Maldini with a champion," concluded the chief.

Salvatore Landolina, Goal.com

Well yes, if we get oursleves a LB, we can seriously challenge for the title (by that, I mean winning it, not just coming third or fourth...!) It is relieveing to see that Fiorentina has not outdone us in the market....

In my opinion this isn't gonna happen in the next couple of years. First off all right now I just don't see alot of fans backing it up. What about the fans from Sampdoria, West Ham and Mallorca? Their money is as good as everyone elses. Ofcourse the big clubs could just say that it's not their problem and do their own thing, but it wouldn't be without complications to freeze out the middle clubs.

But the way I see it, the fact that Perez and Wenger talks about a Euro League, is just so that the big clubs have some leverage over the leagues, in order to avoid to many restrictions. God forbid, imagine if FA ruled out Arsenal's poaching off minors like in Italy? When they keep talking about a Super League they can just say, 'do this and we'll make our own league', it really does put them in a better position.

Also, I really wouldn't like that format, I like the way it is right now thank you very much.

True,Mou wanted to play 4-3-3 so he bought Mancini and Quaresma for around 35 million, and they both flopped very badly,Quaresma has lost everything that made him good, same for Mancini, the 4-3-3 system doesnt work for Inter, still Mou sometimes still wants to trie it out,but it will never work.

Quaresma honestly is pure crap IMO,really bad, everytime i see him play i laugh out hard,he cant get past defenders anymore,he cant do anything,Serie A isnt the type of league for him, thats why.You cant do fancy things like its nothing and get past 3 players with some fancy tricks,La Liga is more suited for Quaresma,he will continue to flop for Inter, same goes for Mancini who i think isnt Inter-material.

Inter have major issues, they arent indestructable anymore, and the other teams know that, they didnt had issues to break down defenses of small teams like Milan and Juve had, they had Ibra who did it all, know they also have to face this kind of problems, who will break the defenses know Ibra has gone???

Spot on!

It aint going to happen, its just a silly dream of some people(including Berlu),you cant freeze out the other teams,it just cant happen.

Abate as a fullback as has been suggested is worth a shot imo. I question his defensive abilities, but we should at least see how it works. He's given his consent and with the modern game using traditional wingers less and less, it will be beneficial for his career if he can make the switch.
