Many have said it is a bit of a stupid idea, but i acctually think its a great idea,we need somebody who has the lungs to run up and down the flank for 90 minutes and he fits the profile,he has allot of energy and adds allot on the wing in attack, only in defense it can be a problem, but with Nesta and Silva the damage shoudnt be worse, and he does his defensive job on the midfield perfect,so why couldnt he do it at the fullback position? And he is young and already has played on the wing,so he can adapt.I think he could be the wingback we are looking for, great in attack and solid in defense, his workrate makes up for his limitness.

I say Abate is our new FB,with Zambro at left and Janku at midfield.I think its a great idea!

Once our season gets underway we will have to make do with what we have, and at this point it looks inadequate. I think it's very sad that while Inter and Juve are addressing their areas, we are pulling players from their natural positions. I'm actually on board for using Abate as a full-back, but that's not the point. This is a damning indictment of our president's unwillingness to see this team really shine. Berlusconi is content to let this team finish in the top four as long as he doesn't have to spend. Also, it's hard not to smile wryly when Berlusconi talks about fiscal responsibility. He is a man who is sitting on a massive fortune, allegedly amassed in no small part by bribery, corruption, cheating etc.

Our first XI is good enough to finish amongst the top three, but if any of those select XI go down injured, our whole shape collapses. It is precisely depth that decides a season. Onyewu has been atrocious this pre-season while Oddo looks like a heaving mess. Silva and Nesta are some comfort, but the latter's creaking back is not.

All of these debates are well rehearsed, but I urge you all not to completely let go of your cynicism because generally that is when those in power have carte blanche to do whatever. Milan is the only team in Italy that constantly pules about a lack of money. This constant rehashing of the same argument is designed to align Berlusconi with a country that is in the throes of economic misery. Ever the demagogue, Berlusconi does not miss a chance to perform. This is all theater for the senescent pervert, while it is much more serious for us. This is the same man who on the eve of an election distributed a book detailing his rise from rags to riches. It won him votes then, and this latest stupidity may alienate some Milan ultras, but the larger constituency buys this nonsense to a certain degree. His comments yesterday have me really worried about the future of Milan.

But there is cause for hope...

I have a feeling Ronaldinho will have a very good season, while Nesta-Silva can take us a long way. If we do win something this season, however, it will be in spite of Berlusconi, not because of him.

Also, believe it or not, I do agree with Berlusconi that we must push Dinho up just bit further. He does win a lot of free-kicks, and we have decent free-kick specialists. It's too early to judge Huntelaar, but if our strikers can chip in with 10-12 goals each then we are in good shape. On paper, our strikers can definitely do that!

Forza Milan per sempre!

I think we have a very good team, who thought on this forum that Abate could be a potential starter for us??

We all said he wasnt up to the task and that he only had speed and thats it,but look at him now.

Anyways,if nobody will arrive then yes,Berlu has ****ed us,and IMO he has ****ed us badly for real.

We sold Kaka and replaced him with Huntelaar, who we got on the cheap. And nobody else arrived......thats just a joke Imo.

I'm not ever expecting a huge buying spree from Berlu-he's proved that over the past years he isn't going to splash the cash. I don't mind that we're not looking like Madrid right now, because the world's recession makes it look ridiculous to pay this out.
We've got a decent team. We've got a new coach who wants the team to be the best. He has something to prove. He's hungry. This can translate alot to the team. Sure we have deficincies. Sure we didn't buy the players we think we need. But on the eve of the season, I think we're a top 3 team in Serie A. I think we'll lose in the group stages of the CL (depending on draw we might get to first knock-out). But i'm excited. We're finally going to see some new blood on the pitch and we've needed that for a long time. It's not going to be perfect or pretty at times, but I think we can come together and do it.
Forza Milan

Hmmmmmmm....... Melo didn't play well this game and all of a sudden he is crap, but nevermind Ronnie played like crap the entire summer and now 1 decent game and all of a sudden we can win the scudetto.......
We win 1 game and now everything is good?
..and that Galliani...he talks as if everyone else bought no one and only we bought few new players.

I am satisfied with last night's game too but IMO Diego played much better than Ronnie and that Amauri guy is great.

Abate can start for us... the kid has pep in his step... desire and will...
out of all the top clubs Milan seem to be the least interested in winning or competing in anything this season... we seem to lack ambition. Our summer transfer shows our desire to ONLY survive in in the top half of the table...
Lyon and other smaller clubs than us have addressed their need quite adequately with some good signings... players that milan could afford.. now the big headed two are going to come and tell us FANS a bag of crap....

This may sound whacked out a bit, but I see the #2 shirt was not taken this year. Maybe it's waiting for someone????

As there are really different. Messi was the top 5 players when Dinho left. Eto was one of the top strikers at that time. Most of the Barcelona team were hitting their prime or in their prime-Xavi, Pugol, Inesta. Whereas Dinho is really not the top 5 players today, most of the team are either at the end of their prime or falling from their prime-Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso. Pato is good but like you said, if he gets injured, Milan will lose the only one who has speed up front and can dribble pass defenders.
actually if u watched them in 07/08 they were a mess... xavi was average, similar to pirlo last year. Gattuso is in no way past it, i dontm know why everyone says he is..... he showed yesterday how big a competitor ihe is. Probably biggest leader on the pitch in football.

messi top 5? on football manager. No offense till last year he showed an abundance of talent but it hadnt resulted in anything, i mean to be fair i thought sergio aguero was much more impressive in 07/08 than messi.

Puyol? How is he in his prime and pirlo and gattuso past it? They r same age or younger than puyol.

Henry had failed to gel, etoo was often hurt, the defense was poor.

anyway my point was all i really wanted from the mercato was some promising youth brought in.... fullbacks, cm, forward... they probably wouldnt be full time starters but that + a coaching change should have been enough to invigorate our side which was looking stale. so far all i se is thiago silva, abate and maybe huntelaar.... but we r still so thin.

But this is just lies only 2 teams can win in England Man Utd and Chelsea there is other ways to please fans like results , Instead of saying stupid things.

If Serie A is easy Carlo why in 8 years did you only win one league title with Milan.
we should have done better last year but realistically how is Carlo suppose to win league with no CF, kaka out for months, ronaldinho drunk all season and a defense the average age of 35 (maldini 40, favalli 37, zambrotta 32, janku 31)

I cant speak for juve/parma days but at milan his objective was clear, UCL is FIRST PRIORITY... and he never had a deep enough squad to compete on both fronts (you cant expect 11 players to play 50 games!) The 2 years he did have some depth were the calciopoli years, so who knows
