I don't think Inter has the skill to beat us, especially this season...

If you look at the past matches, you'd see that they only won for 4 reasons, 1)Dida's epic skills
2)Kaladze miss marking someone
3)Goals that should be disallowed
4)damn lucky free-kicks

as for the line-up, don't think Huntelaar should be debuting in such a big game, he needs time with smaller teams to get used to the defending of Serie A.
Pippo must start this one, as with the services of Ronnie and Pato, and him getting 1v1 with Cesar... I just can't predict a score-line :|

last night it was obvious that they lacked something up front, Maicon and Quaresma can keep sending in crosses into the box as much as they want, but they won't get any credit if there's isnt anyone inside to head it home.

now let's have a look at their midfield, shall we?
a newly promoted Serie B team controlled the midfield, it wasn't easy, but they somehow did it, why?
because all of them were either playing too deep defending, or simply attacking and that allowed Bari to counter attack often and threaten Cesar's goal, but they simply lacked the finishing touch, which we have the best striking force any team would dream of, specially in counter attackig.
and with the quality we have in midfield (ie, Gattuso Pirlo Flamini) it should be a walk in the park.
and with Ronnie simply serving his defense breaking passes for Pato and Pippo, Cesar would wish he never played this match.

The only thing we need to worry about is the defense, specially the left flank, as Janku doesn't have enough energy or strength to stop Maicon so Flamini must play support Janku all the match, meaning, letting Janku run up for attacks and Flamini covering his defending role, and when Inter are attacking he should stay close to Janku and never leave spaces for Maicon to send in crosses.

I also wouldn't worry about Quaresma, as he isnt an idiot to do the tricks he did last night when he has Nesta and Zambrotta infront of him, the defense that stopped even better players than him

now going to the formation:

Storari/Roma
Zambrotta Nesta T.Silva Janku
Gattuso Pirlo Flamini
Pato Ronnie
SuperPippo

Subs:
Huntelaar for Pippo
Abate for Gattuso
and finally: Ambrosini for Flamini to rest him

PS: there was something i didn't understand, why did Pirlo take the Captain arm-band when Gattuso was subbed for Ambro(The captain)?

You say that Inter didn't manage to break a 7-man defence, you're wrong, Milito and Eto'o easily penetrated in their defence actually ... then, of course, if you only look at after the 75th minute, I'm ok with you, the only times Inter put the ball in the defence of Bari were when Quaresma did his useless tricks (and often sent the ball to noone).

About Eto'o, you condamn him very quickly too, what will you say after the 38th game if he manages to score 25 goals this season (which I hope won't happen, except if Pato scores 30 goals and Huntelaar 29 goals) ??

I don't try to defend Inter, but I just think that a post like you wrote is just flashy and has no real sense after one game.

As for Lucio, the guy made one mistake yesterday, and you say that his marking skills are his problem ... if it was really a problem, he wouldn't be the captain of the Brazilian NT as they have many good defenders ... just think about that.
I wonder if you have seen the highlights or the game IMO,because Inter didnt break down Bari's defence at all,of cours they got chances, but the Bari defence wasnt in trouble allot so my conclusion is they didnt break down the wall that Bari set up.They did create chances......but is that strange that they did create some chances in their own stadium against an promovendus.......NO!They had to tear up Bari but they didnt, they struggled allot.

Eto'o needs more then 1 chance to score,he showed it at Barca thats why i say he isnt a clinical finisher, wich you have to be in Serie A because there isnt allot of space,he scored many goals at Barca because he got Xavi,Iniesta,Messi,Henry,Keita,Alves etc. around him, hell even Borriello could have scored those goals.

Eto'o has never been a clinical finisher,at least not at Barca,so he will struggle in Serie A because its do or die in Italy, and with the midfield support of Inter, with Stanko as creative man(wich is a joke btw)Eto'o will struggle.

Somebody has to feed him the ball, and with the current Inter squad....it aint going to happen.

Also yes Lucio is clumsy, and the fact that he is Brazil NT Captain doesnt say allot, because their coach is Dunga and he plays with G.Silva and Juan(who has been injured the whole season unlike other younger options like Alex Silva)....

Honostly I've been saying all along that Eto'o wasn't any good at finishing anymore. Remember 2008, the same year that we bought Ronaldinho? Well Barcelona were desperat to sell Eto'o aswell, Bojan who was 17, was being played ahead of him. But in the end they kept him and he had a great season, but really more down to the team he's playing in.

Really he's a great player though, one of the most skilled, and his big strength is that he's there in the big games, but over a season you'll struggle to find anyone that misses more chances than him.

Anyways, you're right, it's way to early to draw conclusions about Inter, they were playing 4-3-1-2 yesterday whith the mighty Stankovic as a trequartista, I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the whole system next game against us. Can't rule out that they'll sign a trequartista either. Never understood why they haven't signed Cassano, he might be crazy (which actually makes him fit pretty well in Inter), but in my opinion he's the player that would make them tick. To bad for them that he's Italian, I guess that makes him a no-go.

I agree with Dutchie and Geo.

I really do think they are going to miss Ibra a lot this year. Millito is bad ass though. Eto will score goals but at the end of the campaign i can see him and Huntleer being in the high teens.

Pato has to be on fire this year for us and our defense has to try to keep a clean sheet. If we can do these things we have a chance.

One thing i loved about watching our first game was that after we scored and seina scored right back, we did'nt give in. We atttacked and we ran and pushed and we got our deserved win.

I've said this in past posts, i really believe our hunger this year to prove others wrong will be our key advantage.

I believe we will win this game against inter, i have no idea the score but i want us to be hungry as always and we can pop a lot of the hot air from inter if we win.

Forza Milan!!!!

I would like to see the following to start the match (4-3-1-2):

----------------Huntelaar--------------Pato----------------
----------------------------Dinho--------------------------
----------Flamini------------Pirlo----------------Abate------
----Antonini---------Silva---------Nesta-----------Zambrotta----

Zambrotta is going to need to stay focused defensively so I'm hoping Abate is going to get the chance to run that wing. On the left side Jankulovski MUST be taken off for this one. Maicon will eat him for dinner on both sides of the field. Antonini has the ability to play both sides just like Zambro. He can defend which is 10 steps above Janku.

As early as it is, 5 points up on Inter will be a great start if we can pull down all the points.

I like your starting line up. The only thing is i dont know if i would put in Abate, Huntlaar in the second half.

I dont want Janku to start (very lazy defense)

i think if we play abate on the side that maicon plays we should be ok. Abate has the speed.

We dont have to stop inters strong players, distruption should be more than enough.

I have no clue how im going to get through this week @ waiting for the game.

We should play the same lineup as against Siena. I would only change Jankulovski perhaps. But he's the paciest left back we have at the moment, so he should stay, because it will take a lot of pace to deal with Maicon. Kaladze was just great left back BEFORE he injured himself in 2003, because when he came back he lost his pace. And I don't think that he fits in Leonardo's system with attacking full-backs.

I would really like if Leonardo would play Flamini as LB and put Seedorf in his place in midfield. With Pirlo, Seedorf, Ronaldinho and Pato holding the ball, Inter would be lost. That way Flamini would deal with Maicon also. But that will not happen either.

Then, I really doubt that Pippo will start. We need some strength in the air in attacking third and assuming that Ambro will stay on the bench, Borriello will start. Either him or Huntelaar, it's Leonardo's choice and he knows best.

I think we have enough to deal with the most dangerous Inter players (Maicon and two strikers). The one thing we should think of is Dejan Stankovic. He's very dangerous running from the back to pick up loose balls and back-passes and if you remember he scored that way in the last derby. Pirlo must be on caution there.

Flamini on the left of our CMs will have to deal with Maicon anyway ... he will be the first guy to dribble for Maicon. Flamini has the pace to help Jankulovski and do his job in midfield too.

If we have Viera and Muntari against us (with Motta), the job of Flamini will be principally to stop Maicon as, at least for Viera and Muntari, they can't create and don't really dribble ...

Maldini and Kaka have both shown their support ahead of the derby. I find it ironic how goal.com (which is quite clearly anti-Milan lately) has posted this article...

http://www.goal.com/en/news/8/main/2...n-and-win-the-

What I found ridiculous is actually how they have more than once alluded to us just barely scraping a win against Siena, when the reality is we more than warranted a win and were probably the most convincing of all the title contenders during the first round. Then they talk about how Gattuso and Pirlo were poor, which is again untrue as they did a fine job in their roles, and then they say Flamini was unconvincing, which is just plain stupid as right now Flamini is one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Quite frankly, I always thought goal.com's reporting and judgement were a joke, but they're really taking it to new lows now and the way the act about Maldini's statements (which make a lot of sense) is an embarassment.

edit: forgot to say that goal.com have often said how Siena are relegation battlers with pretty much no hope, but what they forgot to add is that against us the few moves Siena had to open us up were actually very good moves.

Don't go around and underestimate Inter. This Inter team have our number as we could see in the preseason games. They are a dull boring team with two effective strikers that have little support and are full of defensively sound players. I believe the biggest thing speaking for us though is that Cambiasso is missing, he has been great in all games against us and will leave a hole in their midfield.

Also we need Borriello or Huntelaar to open up some space for Pato, if we chicken out and play him alone upfront then I believe we will suffer.
