Anyway, back to the topic, TMW and Calciomercato (probably from the same source) report that we are after Canini, central defender from Cagliari ...

The deal could be reached if we give them Astori + 5M.

While it is good to have another central defender, it's actually not what we need the most right now (and that would mean that they already have no confidence into Onyewu) ...

It's unfair to say our transfer policy is bad since 2003. It's bad since Calciopolli and maybe a year before.

After that incredible loss vs Liverpool, for '05/06 season we didn't have a good mercato. A BIG mistake was to let Crespo back to Chelsea, as he was fantastic for us and link up between him, Sheva and Kaka was brilliant. We bought Gila instead, yes he was amazing striker at the time, but spending 25 mil. euros on him when we had (proven) Crespo was a gamble. We also sold our cover striker, Tomasson, and brought old Vieri.

And next season, '06/07, is crucial. Calciopolli happened, we were cut short for 60 mil. so we had to sell our best player Shevchenko. We also lost Stam and Rui Costa and we already had some old players like Maldini, Cafu and Serginho. Nesta was also becoming fragile, Gilardino was proving to be a bad buy and Kaladze was starting to fall apart. I forgot to mention that we failed to get a decent replacement for Pirlo for all these years. We bought Oliveira to replace Sheva, because he came cheap. Suddenly the only world-class striker we had was (old) Inzaghi who was constantly injured. In defense, we bought Bonera, who was a good prospect I have to say, but he had to replace Stam, Cafu and Maldini on his own! During the winter we made two great transfers as we bought Oddo (at the time the best FB in Serie A) and Ronaldo.

Winning CL that season didn't help, because we had a lot old players urging for replacement. Because Nesta was fragile and Maldini was old, and Bonera and Kaladze weren't good enough, we needed at least one world-class or future world-class CB. As Cafu and Serginho were too old also, we needed two cover FBs (again, future world-class) for not-world-class Oddo and Jankulovski. At midfield assuming we was going to play with two strikers and our standard midfield trio of Gattuso-Pirlo-Seedorf we were left with just Brocchi and Ambrosini as covers for the three. Playing 4-3-2-1 we had Brocchi to cover our 4 midfielders! But hey we brought Emerson. We also lacked a cover for Kaka because Gourcuff apparently was not good enough for us. At least we were good in attack: Pato came in, Ronaldo was there, on the bench Gila and Pippo. But not for long, because Ronaldo was always injured.

And after that we felt apart. For the last season we lost Oddo, Cafu, Serginho, Brocchi, Gourcuff, Gilardino and Ronaldo. For all the signings we made, two good were Zambrotta for Oddo, who came for 10 mil., and Flamini who came for free. 20 millions was spent on Ronaldinho when we already had Kaka in that place and Ancelotti was beging for a penalty-box striker. They gave him Borriello. Beside the striker we needed at least one creative midfleder who could easily fight with Seedorf for a starting 11 place (Hernanes possibly), a replace for Kaka (because you cannot call Ronaldinho a replace) and, again, two cover FBs who could potentialy fight for a starting 11 place because we had none. The good thing was that we finally bought a future world-class CB, but a bit too late. It was our last chance to begin trasnistion. With 20 mil. we spent on Ronaldinho, for just little more a penalty-box striker could come (Huntelaar then, imagine that), and our goal for two years should've been to buy De Silvestri, Cissokho, Santacroce and Hernanes, beside Huntelaar, and to bring Gourcuff back and not to sell Kaka. The names didn't have to be these of course. That would cost us about 60 millions (less if we sell some players) and we would be competitive on all fronts. For this season, we could also think to sell Pirlo and buy Fabregas instead but that was optional.

Berlusconi and Galliani didnt even have the balls to say it them selves. They are probably hiding in a Milan hotel room somewhere now. So much for the protests of the so called ultras. They are all talk.

Roma couldnt sell Totti because everybody feared thir ultras. Ours are a bunch of nancies who only criticise Maldini.

You know what is the most humiliating indictment of the state of our team? That we couldn't show Oddo the door--no one wanted him. That speaks volumes about the quality in our ranks. Old and hopeless players whom not even the lesser lights are willing to purchase.

So now we will make do with what we have. Will Janku be benched or pushed up? Will Abate get a shot as a full-back?

I wish they would just give us a decent explanation for what is going on now. I am so tired of hearing all these excuses - I just want Galliani and Berlusconi to come out and say, "yes, we've made some mistakes, we're sorry."

They're starting to remind me of that Iraqi Information Minister. And it's interesting that Galliani hasn't said a word to the press after the defeat against Inter.

Find it funny that you don't want Huntelaar in your team, I remember you saying that he'd be your prefered forward when we were linked to him, but I guess players playing for Milan get an automatik minus in the book of the pessimist.

Also all the formations that have Borriello or Abate replacing Ronaldinho, you gotta be kiddin' me... You forgot that he was MoM against Siena? He was terrible against Inter, but EVERYBODY, except maybe Pato, Seedorf and Storari were terrible against Inter. Also, I would really love to see how Abate or Borriello would do with a DM marking them all game like 'Dinho has, I bet they'd be real stars. Ronaldinho is our creative force wether you like it or not. And comparing Abate or Borriello to him is rediculess.

Also about Borriello vs Huntelaar, in my opinion they're completly different players. Borriello is less likely to score than Nesta, he just doesn't have it in him, but he does offer something else. He's excellent at winning the headers outside the box and lay the ball off. Against Inter when we were playing well he was actually completly dominating in the air. He's not that big though, so he seems pretty good technically. The way I see him, he's an Ibrahimovic ultra-light back in Ajax before he learned how to score

Compared to Huntelaar Borriello plays alot deeper, it's obvious what Huntelaar does, he's a born goalscorer, so all in all I think they both provide good options for Leonardo. They'd also probably make a pretty good forward pair I think.

edit: And what the hell, Barca signed Dmytro Chygrynskiy from Shatkar Donetsk for 25 M EURO's!!! That's insane, imagine what Srna would cost...

slifersd, I know, I'm just delusional and have went from trying to think of cheap, "realistic" transfers, to straight-up fantasy.

Though, I wonder what's going to happen to him, Diego is young, where are they going to play him (Giovinco)?

At least we have our replacement for Inzaghi next year, Alberto Paloschi has 2 goals in 2 games. I think he played well against Catania, he holds up the ball pretty well for a kid his size. I'm glad Serie A hasn't daunted him.

Inter close to Pandev

In the last few hours Inter have joined the race to land Lazio striker Goran Pandev and are now favourite to secure his services.

According to reports in Italy the Nerazzurri have been targeting him for a long while although Marco Branca and Jose Mourinho preferred to keep it quiet.

Now with the transfer deadline coming close they have decided to come out and offer the out of favour Macedonian a contract.

Inter could send Ricardo Quaresma to the Olimpico in exchange in order to sign Pandev.

Genoa are also interested but have rejected an offer from Lazio President Claudio Lotito, who wanted to swap his forward for Rossoblu defender Salvatore Bocchetti.

Enrico Preziosi then contacted Lotito wanting to negotiate a part exchange deal for Pandev involving Hernan Crespo. The Laziali are not interested in that though since they already have Julio Cruz to bolster their attack.

Bayern Munich, Fiorentina and Lyon are also following the negotiations closely and could try to hijack the transfer.

giovinco might leave juventus but for Milan we have no money even cheap realistic players are fantasty. Football often is full of shocks and suprises we could end up getting a new multi billionairre owner or berlusconi will have a change of heart and invest in the team. I fear the only new players we will get in the future will be from our primavera team or will be coming in as a free transfer.

Long season for us. I'll put on my helmet and wear my seatbelt.

If we implode and don't even make the Europa league which is possible. Sure we beat Siena but don't forget the pre season how bad we were. Im sure we'll beat teams like Siena , Livorno , Chievo , Bari...But what about Juve , Fiorentina , Roma , Napoli ,Udinese , Sampdoria. We have better players on paper bigger names but these are better teams. As a team we do not look good at the moment , and its not just a 4 - 0 home defeat to Inter this has been coming for awhile no investment bad MGT huge contracts for over the hill players.

In 2 more years at least 14 of our squad will be between 33 and 39 , does anyone think even half of these will be gone and 7 new signings brought in really anyone ? And even if 7 go and 7 come in that will just mean we will have 7 players between 33 - 39 and at least ten 30 and over. Besides Kaka going and that french guy we had and no spending that is not the worst the worst is yet to come , I said il wait until the mercato is over know it is. And the future does not look bright there is nothing possitive. I belive if Berlu is in control as soon as 60 or 70 comes in for Pato he is gone , Parma own half of Paloschi maybe he will want to stay there .

If Silva takes off big time and someone bids huge 30 million in a couple of years will he be sold. We have all talked about the team being old and past it but not many people have said that in a few years at least 15 new players will be needed because about 15 players will be retiring.

Judging by this mercato I don't expect anything in January and beyond that , does anyone think that in the next 3 years we will have 15 new signings. This team has been on the slide since 2005 and nothing has been done to fix it maybe Ive just wrote alot of bullsh1t but that is the position we are in.
