I agree completely about what you said about Pato and the position that he's had to play in the last few games. I don't want to see him that far away from the goal either.

Hopefuly everything will come to its place.


By the way....I am really getting pissed off at how Ronaldinho keeps having these flashes of great plays and spells. If he only had the character game in game out.....he'd help out a lot.

I still think (like I said this summer) G.Rossi would be a great partner for Pato, Pato as main striker, rossi as second striker!

Against Siena, Pato played like a striker. No second striker, a straight-up striker. He bagged a brace, he should have had a hat-trick. I think this point has best raised the issue with Pato atm. Firstly, I do agree with mrki that Pato isn't helped in the slightest by the team. You just need to look at Pippo and Huntelaar in the last couple of games and see the service they received to know that even if Pato plays as the leading striker he isn't likely to get much service, and will most likely struggle to score.

I also agree with nefremo that Pato has been making poor decisions in the last few games. He spends too long on the ball needlessly and runs into crowds, instead of working with teammates to breakdown opponents. That said, mrki's argument holds true here too. Like Pato needs to work with teammates, those teammates need to work with him. Borriello does this by working for the team, which has allowed Pato, particularly in the Siena game to play off of him. Huntelaar has clearly not adapted to this and Pippo is as selfish as they come. As great a striker he is, his game always hampers the game of his partner in attack.

Point is Pato can raise the level of the team with good movement and better decision making. Against Siena his movement was excellent and this benefited others, in particular Dinho as he always had options to pick out passes, the most threatening ones for Pato. However, his teammates must work with him. This is what annoyed me most about Pippo against Bologna. He clearly had the chance to pass to Pato for an easy goal, but instead tried to go alone. If the team like in this scenario works as individuals rather than a unit then Pato's game will suffer.

For Pato to improve he needs to work at two levels. One is at a team level where he needs to work more with teammates (and vice versa) to work as a cohesive group. The other is at a personal level, learning what movements were most effective and what benefitted the team most. Against Siena for example he did move into wide areas and cause a lot of damage, but his most dangerous movements and the areas he scored from were when he moved into the box to look for a goal. He must do this more often, looking to let teammates supply him with chances and moving into the box to finish moves more, as since Siena he's been doing it less and less as matches pass.

I just have a feeling that if Pato or Milan continues like this, Berlu will sell him after the WC for 30mil.

As much as some people say its not that bad you have to look at the facts and they are , we have 3 goals in 5 games have struggled against very average opposition have been humiliated by Inter (who our president thinks are far inferior to us already 6 points advantage after only 5 games) a team who are only finding there feet after adding alot of players to there starting lineup. The fact is we have to win against Bari and while I don't think they are better than us obviously I think they are going to pose us huge problems , they are only newly promoted and are very hard to break down. We really need the 3 points but i honestly don't think we will.

would you guys sign Pandev if he rescinded his contract? He's not one of my favourite players, but he could offer an immediate solution.... however I think the problem is in the midfield..so I'm not sure signing Pandev could be a good solution.

No striker will be the answer for us IMO, maybe Torres or Zlatan, but they are way out of reach! we need a better midfield, more creativity and agression, +some fullbacks who can attack and cross, fullbacks full of energy.

This sort of player is great for a mid-table team like Sampdoria (not that we're any better this year) where the whole team is built around him and he steals the show. If he needs to play as a team player in a big team, he will have problems.

If we succeed in converting R80 to a second striker as many are suggesting, I am really really really regretting not having got Gourcuff back, because Seedorf alone can not cover the trequartista role.....maybe we should be looking around for a good playmaker this winter....VDV anyone?

We seem to be making a serious assumption here, which is that Berlu is going to revert from being Mr "Tight-Wad Scrooge", to the Berlu of old...and I am yet to see/hear/read any indication of this change...

Its all well and good to be optimistic, but I prefer to be realistic.

With reduced gate revenues, and no let-up to the economic recession in Italy in sight, where are we getting these ideas that Berlu will untie the purse strings, and spend more in Jan (€20M for Cassano+€XM on a LB + €12M for the Serb player we have apparently already bought) than we spent in the summer?

I won't waste energy hoping for something I have every reason to believe won't happen...

Well he has been pushing for it for a while it seems, and to be fair, he is one of the players in the squad that earns the least.
