Pato announced he would score against Roma, and he did it ... this goal seems to have launched his season, as it was the first time that Pato was really efficient in an European competition, and not against a small side, but against Madrid in Madrid !!

His confidence is probably boosted at its maximum now ... go for the show Pato !!

Pato always score against big teams, we need him to score against smaller sides
last year he scored in all big teams, inter, juve, Roma, fiorentina and udinese. Pato has no problem scoring against any team but the real question is service to him and his motivation

In Italy yes, but in Europe (he didn't play that much games anyway), he didn't impress ... except against Madrid. And we can't say that the start of season of Pato is good, but I think his goal against Roma gave him some confidence which resulted to the two goals against Madrid ... which could give him even more confidence. It will be interesting to see him playing in the next few games !!

Have you realized that Pato has scored more goals in Champions League at Santiago Bernabéu than Kaka does?

Pato has amazing talent, but will never be on the level of the likes of C.Ronaldo, Messi or Kaka.

Never say never ... and I don't know what can make you saying such a thing.
Pato is full of talent, he just needs a coach who will make all this talent exploding, like Ferguson with Ronaldo, Ancelotti with Kaka', or ... hum, for Messi, I'm not sure he really needed a coach, anyway, Messi still lacks something despite the fact that he is probably one of the most talented players from all times.

Thanks, GeoTav. That's what I wanted to say too. I hope that Pato will soon shut all his skeptics up.

Pato is a much better player than CR9 and Kaka at their age now.

As for Messi, i think Messi passing and individual skills were better at his age but Pato is a better finisher.

Pato have all the qualities to be better than the big three, whether he fulfills them or not is another question, as injuries, bad influences from teammates...can all play a part in his development.

Unless something seriously goes wrong in his career, he's got more than enough to surpass the achievements of both Kaka and C.Ronaldo. At his age, it's natural to be inconsistent and that's his biggest problem atm. Messi is probably the only with the potential to match Pato.

On another note, I was at my cousin's house yesterday and found it hilarious when my brother (Juventus fan) and cousins (all follow Premiership more) thought Pato wasn't all that quick. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

Gabriel the only difference between messi and pato is the league, Pato got alot of skills in his bag, if we assume both players are playing in the same league than we can compare.

i doubt messi and cr9 will perform the same if playing in Serie A.

Anyway, Pato, like Kaka', plays in a position where he will shine ...
I mean, C.Ronaldo and Messi are nothing else than wingers actually, and I don't know why, but I think wingers do their time ... I mean, both will be decisive for 2-3 years, but then, if they don't change their position, everyone will know how to stop them, even for Messi (and what I say also goes for other wingers like Ribéry, Mancini, etc). In their career, they often have some times without being really decisive, then they can become decisive again, etc.

For guys like Pato, so strikers, they also depend a little bit from their partners, so it's impossible for other players to know how to stop them, because a genius pass from someone else will just put Pato in the right way to score ... and we often recall scorers, not passers in history.

So, even if it's not clear, to conclude, I think that Pato has everything to become the next big thing in football ...

Exactly, Pato in Barcelona would rip everything apart. Everyone scores alot in La Liga, it's well known. Look at Eto'o 30+ goals in Barca last season, 3 in Inter so far, looooong way to go, and this isn't a poor Inter either.

^^ Bad comparison. Eto'o has to readjust to a different league, language and a whole other set of barriers. Also Inter's midfield is nowhere near as creative as Barcelona's so I would expect their Eto'o to suffer as a result. At Barcelona, he would get ~ 4-5 clear chances per game.

As for Geo, Kaka isn't playing as a winger in Madrid, yet he's struggling. Whereas both Cristiano and Messi are still doing quite well. The only thing that has ever held Messi back was injuries. I don't believe that it's wingers per say, but if any player doesnt change his style a bit, he will eventually become predictable. If you realized, Kaka could barely get past a defender in his last two years in Serie A. I watch a fair bit of Barcelona's games (~ 90%) and I can say that Messi is already changing his game, passing a lot more than he used to. He knows he draws three defenders, so with a decisive pass he can really open up the game.
