AC Milan-Parma Giornata 10

Well after that painfull but deserved two lastminute goals of Napoli we are going to face a very good and inform team at San Siro saturday: Parma.

They came from Serie B and together with Bari they are suprising everybody with their good football and high place on the standings.They have great players like Mariga,Panucci,Biabiany,Bojinov and of course: Alberto Paloschi(!)

Like i said they have a great squad who should make it in Serie A,also they have a very good mix of old guards and energetic youngsters,when i saw them play against Inter in San Siro they were very dangerous on counterattack.

Paloschi has scored 4 goals,the same amount as Pato.

We are in decent form,we have beaten Real Madrid in Bernabeu,played good in Chievo second half and deserved the victory and of course it all began against Roma where we came back from a 0-1 score.Against Napoli we of course should have won the game if we were motivated enough to finish it.But things didnt work out that way,to bad!

If things go as planned,we should win this really.We have to make points and if we continue the good play and dont be sluggish this time there shouldnt be a problem,however Parma is in good shape so i dont hope they will suprise us!Still i am counting on a victory!

I dont think we should give players rest,the only players who have to rest is Nesta(depends on injurystatus)and one of Pirlo/Seedorf,the rest should play.

This would be my formation:

Dida;Zambrotta,Silva,Favalli/Kaladze,Antonini;Flamini,Ambrosini,Pirlo;Pato,Borriello,Ronaldinho.

If we are leading then sub Pirlo immediatly for Gattuso or Strasser,Antonini moving to LM is also a good option.

Like i said,we have to win this one!

FORZA MILAN PER SEMPRE!!!

I rarely start a new thread on the forum.......but let me try my luck! I wanted to move on from Napoli and with Parma coming to the San Siro just in 2 days I was surprised no new thread was opened.

Anyhow, moving on to the game.......despite the draw at the San Paolo I think we are in a positive spell. Many of our players are in a positive spell and they need to move in the same direction. Like I said after the game with Napoli, if you only look at the result (2-2) it is a positive thing. If you look at the times that the goals were scored at, then it's not positive. So I would suggest to only look at the score and move on to Parma with confidence.

What we need to do on Saturday is start with the same intensity that we started yesterday. Pin them back and don't give them an outlet. Force mistakes and gain back possession quickly. And IF we score, don't let them off the hook. Juve's game against Samp should serve us as an example. They applied high pressure across the field for the entire game. Melo and Sissoko/Poulsen held a line at midfield and they didn't drop deeper then that. That's where they applied the pressure and 'Doria had so much trouble knocking the ball around. It requires a lot of energy.....but modern football requires energy and if we want anything from this season we have to use our energy.

after a disappointing draw for ac milan against napoli though they are a good side no doubt about that but i hope they will be able to secure that 2-o win.milan parma if we know that they afre the one ahead of us with a point so i hope we are going to bounce back against them and they should be fully prepared for the big one against real madrid.I URGE AC MILAN VICTORY AGAINST PARMA AND REAL MADRID

It's a shame that Sandro is going to miss this match since I really want to see how Palo doing against our two best defenders. I never watch Parma's game this season but I must admit I'm impressed with their performance so far.

They have some promising youngsters, but I'll keep a watchful gaze on Palo and Mariga. Let's hope that we keep our focus until the final whistle and not think about the match against RM.

ON THE NEXT HOME GAMES “I always said that the fans’ behaviour is a reflection of what we do, so far we’re happier with our results, for what we do, therefore tomorrow at San Siro I expect a more content crowd who will support us.”

ON THE NAPOLI MATCH AND THE TEAM’S MOOD “In the league today we must make mathematical calculations, but looking at everything in the Napoli game we evaluate the performance because the San Paolo, Verona and Madrid matches gave us a lot. Like it happened that we won one in the final minute, it happened that we drew another one in the same way, but if we evaluate the performance of this period I’m satisfied. “I always try to put on the pitch the players according to their characteristics, trying to make them gve their best, in Naples after the game we presented ourselves differently. I don’t think that the equalizer arrived due to our tactics, but for the emotions of the game. Maybe if I had substituted Abate before, I would have avoided the draw, but removing a full-back I would have revolutionized the squad and I put in Borriello. The doubt was between Oddo and Borriello. After the red card also the stadium pushed the team forward, Cigarini scored an extraordinary goal which brought a bit of confusion.”

ON RONALDINHO “Today on the newspapers I read that we have a love-hate relationship, but I think that it’s more of love. There’s been a rapport for a long time and I think that his reaction after the match of Naples was positive. I saw him afterwards and I spoke to him in the dressing room, these are nice things because you also need anger. He knows what we need and what he can do. He has always been under the spotlights, now he’s there and needs to be consistent, this is the only thing he lacks. Anyway. I hope Leonardo can get the right mentality to our players. Against Roma, Madrid and Chievo we only got our game on in the 2nd half. Versus Napoli we had the spirit right from the start (and a very generous Neapolitan defense), but then we stopped playing. We have to play with spirit through out the whole game.

Luckily Nesta's injury isnt anything grave, but it is right to rest him tonight to save him for the Real 'get-pounded-by-3rd-division-team' Madrid. As such, I would like to see:

Zambro/Oddo - T Silva - Kaladze - Antonini

Antonini has been good when he played lately. For the right flank I am a bit uncertain, Zambro or Oddo? Zambrotta has been bad lately, but then he has played on the left. Oddo has actually been good for his standards lately (ignoring his glory-days), so I dunno.

For midfield I dont know what to expect. We really have to rest Seedorf and Pirlo. Sure, they might be able to pull this game off, but what happens when we play Real Madrid? Maybe the wise thing to do is play 2 DMs and one of Seedorf/Pirlo, giving each one half to play. But if we are playing two mediani then one of them has to be Flamini, since he can actually contribute to our passing play.

For offense I want Borrigol. Parma will be closed back in their own half, and Borri's sheer physicality will be superior to what Huntelaar or Superpippo can offer. (against Real, who will be offensive minded, maybe Hunter and Inzaghi can be productive)
Dinho would need some rest too, but we really have no other options, as long as we want to play Leo's 4-3-3.

As long as we play with some kind of spirit for the WHOLE game, I am confident we will take home all three points. I would want more than just "some kind" of spirit, but lets face it, that isnt gonna happen tonight. But "some kind" will be enough for a win, imho.

I begin to wonder how long Seedorf and Pirlo wil go without an injury, and if Leo will rest either or both of them, considering that we have Madrid in the UCL next week.

I think its imperative, with so many matches in succession, that Leo look to do without either or both of them, as even if they don't succumb to some injury or another, sheer fatigue will cause a dip in form.

We also have an increasing injury list at present, almost at crisis levels as it stands, so we can scarcely afford to lose any more players.

Interesting stats posted previously...with no Nesta, we are bound to concede...so its a matter of ensuring we keep ahead in the scoring, and yes, that we do manage to actually score...

Huntelaar may very well start this game, and I hope for his, and our sakes, that he does find the back of the net...

With or without Nesta, we've conceded too many goals so far ...
All great teams have either an excellent defence or an amazing team-play to score (and the best teams have both).

Nowadays, we have neither one nor the other ... our team-play is good but only in some moments, and when the other teams have the ball then, we don't concede because we've been lucky or because our GKs saved us ... we let our opponents having good chances to score in all games, it's miraculous that we don't concede 4 goals per game !!

Anyway, let's hope our guys will react after the disappointing end of game in Napoli !!

Of course I do know this will not be a formation and I dont know who is 100% fresh etc. But I'd bench Seedorf as I know we need him 200% fit for CL game. I'd play Pirlo is a position See played vs Napoli, and Hunter as a CF.

Also, I was disgusted by the way Seedorf moved vs Napoli. Our midfield suffered for 85 min coz he never stepped up to recover into the line of 3 man mid to defend. We defended with 2 mids, and without NEsta we sat back and couldnt play our defence higher ) which gives us an option of pressing in the middle). But Seedorf did NOTHING! I do not understand how he has no shame in walking around and looking at Pirlo-Ambrosini fighting to cover entire midfield. Today that is not an option!

Yes yes, good formation. I woukdn't be surprised if Leo would play Flamini further up the field, and play Ambrosini as a traditional holding mid. Still I bet Seedorf is gonna play, he's great, but he really needs a rest.
