I wouldn't go so negative. There have been plenty of times when teams in the CL go through to the next round when they don't deserve it.

Look at Chelsea vs. Juve last year, or how Barca nipped it at the death against Chelsea, again last year? How many times in our CL runs in 2003, 2005, and 2007 did we have a little bit of luck go our way? All teams do.

Furthermore, we played Madrid and took four points from them, Marseille could not do that. We took four points from Marseille too. I think if anything, we should be kicking ourselves that we aren't first in the group because of our stupid loss to Zurich earlier, that's the only reason why we were in a precarious position.

Look at Juve, they just got knocked out, losing 1-4 at home, that's disgusting. A random 1-0 loss? I'd understand, but 1-4? Especially with the team at Ferrarra's disposal?

Honestly Juve could be a fearsome team, I think sooner or later Juve will have to come to terms with that reality. He has all the weapons at his disposal to really have a good team and clearly he's wasting it.

We're probably gonna draw an English team. I just hope we don't face Chelski yet.

What were our chances against Madrid? The only teams I would really want to avoid are Man U, Barca, and Chelsea. But even then, only Barca is the real threat.

Kudos to Zurich though, they played 2 good games against us, and I don't think they're as bad as alot of people made them out to be.
or, you didn't think that Milan is as good as people made us to be.....

pathetic performance by milan, in particular by the old guard of Ambrosini, Pirlo and Seedorf...absolutely pathetic... we couldn't beat 10 man Zurich.... and they beat us at our own stadium.... then again we were lucky to get a point from marseille in our stadium..

We really need to wake up and stop thinking we can keep this beautiful form up for long... reality is that our squad is really thin and really old. Investments MUST be bought in January or else we will suffer badly.

I also don't understand Leo's problem with substitutions. He keeps the faith in Boriello until the 80th minute every game and that shouldn't have been the case today. Oh boy how lucky are we to qualify considering our last 2 CL games. I am very disappointed. Today it was Ancelotti's Milan that played not Leo's. I blame the midfield trio who started. Very pissed off with this performance!

This is the first time in years that Milan hasn't topped its group in CL. We are going to get a bad draw I bet. Teams that we could face are Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barca, Bordeaux, Lyon, Sevilla. 4 of those teams would absolutely rape us and thrash us in both legs if we played like the last 2 games in the CL. As we were lucky enough to make it thru next round, let's not make the mistake of thinking we earnt it and let's prepare better for next phase.

Pathetic.

An English team, as Monsieur Platini designed. Too bad he can't throw Spanish sides in the mix. Inter will be there too if they finish group 2nd.

I think the fact that the only first choice member of our back-four was Nesta should illustrate a big part of why we played the way we did.

Also, I don't think there was a realistic chance of Milan getting first spot because of our stupid loss to Zurich earlier in the season.

I don't think this performance indicates the fate of Milan or how we will be destroyed by the teams you listed. If this was Carlo's Milan rather than Leo's Milan that was playing today, then it should be no surprise to you that we played poorly against a smaller team.

You are right that Milan hasn't finished second in a group in a long time. However, I don't think that is the be-all-end-all of our fate. Of course, if we're going to face Barca, then I'll be pretty pessimistic.

However, I think Beckham's return to Milan is really going to give us a huge boost. Bonera will finally give us an alternative to Kaladze, who's very presence ruins our team's playing style.

Flamini needs to play more, Ambro showed that he's tired. If Zambro was available we would have been able to let Abate play for Ronaldinho, who clearly was not 100%.

Leo needs to rotate a bit more, and honestly, Kaladze shouldn't see the field again this year unless absolutely necessary.

He scored a hat-trick against Germany (frienly before WC2002). Maybe he's got a little luck with German teams ^^

In my opinion, Kaladze was decent in the second half. Of course he is still good enough in any standard for Milan. I am hoping that we could ship him away.

Nesta/Silva will be the key to success. We should pray everyday that they remain healthy.

I think it was only the second time that we qualify as runner-up. I can recall 1994-95 after Ajax but we made it all the way to the final again.

Since the beginning,
92-93: 1st
93-94: 1st
94-95: 2nd
95-96: UEFA cup
96-97: 3rd
97-98: out of Europe
98-99: out of Europe
99-00: 4th
00-01: 1st in the first round, 3rd in the second round
01-02: UEFA cup
02-03: 1st in both rounds
03-04: 1st
04-05: 1st
05-06: 1st
06-07: 1st
07-08: 1st
08-09: UEFA cup
09-10: 2nd

but what's important is that we are through, and that's what matters. I don't care whom we draw against. The draw will be on next Friday (12/18) but we won't play until late February I believe? Much could happen between now and then.

Let's switch our focus back to Serie A for now, and hope for a few new players in the winter.

I do either. Milan fears noone in CL

Yeah, Barca is fearsome, but we can not predict the future.

And... What if... If... we meet Zurich at the knock-out phase? We might be more prepared, but we are not sure about the result.

The thing is: Milan traditionally play better against bigger than smaller team. We will see what eventually happens.

Owen is an injury prone version of Morientes, both very under rated.

I hope B&G don't need games like this to realize there is lots of work still to be done. Leo is doing a great job but it does not mean this team has enough depth and options.

Owen ain't never been underrated, he won the Balon d'Or... If anything he's been completly overrated.

But i agree with your second point

not a performance to be proud of, anyway we're through . the game clearly showed how the lack of squad depth in a team can cost you much, when you have limited options to choose from, fatigue easily comes & kills us from the inside ! (and considering those old guards we have)

how is t.silva's injury? hopefully it's not too serious ..

P.S : Kala strikes fear into our hearts instead of the strikers ' hearts ,
