Banter 2009/2010

The rationale is simple regarding choosing guys like Viudez and Adiyah to fill our non EU spots, their price tag! Look at how much it cost Inter to fill one of their non EU spot and then look at how much we spent on the non EU spots in the last two years combined. The management wants the team to be good, but not at the cost of spending a lot of money. Is Dzeko better than Adiyah? Hell yeah! But he isn't going to be in milan because his price tag is higher than Adiyah.

Yup, without any DM's as all of beckham, pirlo, and seedorf can defend when they play on a straight line in the middle of the pitch.

however if we play our usualy 4-2-1-3 he could fit in instead of Pirlo so we can have Beckham + 1 DM just behind Seedorf. I don't think we can play Beckham on the right wing cause he doesnt have speed nor skills. I think Abate is better equipped on the right flank and he himself is not good enough.

No defensive midfielder???? I know Becks hustles and bustles, but Flamini should be in their for Seedorf....

I.M.O, we should be looking at the Club World Cup for some players. Rojas of Atlante looks promising, but then those damn non-Eu spots....

Real Madrid are so stupid to have sold sneider, for me he is better than Alonso and can to pretty much everything Alonso can. Inter have struggled in all their games without sneider, and they got him for a steal at 15mil...I seriously doubt Xabi alonso could have the same effect at inter that sneider is having there. I was hoping we would have gotten him to replace seedorf or pirlo, oh well

Please be rational. Xabi Alonso is among three best deep-lying play-makers in the world along with Xavi and Pirlo.

First, you cannot compare these two players because they're different. Xabi Alonso is d-l p-m, as I said, and he's equally good in attack and defense. Sneijder is AM or side-midfielder who's as good in defense as Beckham is (even worse), which means a joke comparing to Xabi.

I'm also really impressed with Real. Lass is BEAST, he's new Gattuso, I can see him and Xabi as the best inline-two in the world in few years. Add Ronaldo and Kaka into equation and you have the best midfield in the world, if you have practically four CB's in defense, which they have. Van der Vaart can also play with all of them, if they play with lone striker.

Madrid are completely unbalanced and have been shown up in numerous competitions already. Xavi certainly isn't a deep lying playmaker either so before having a go at bijon's comments you might want to think about what you are saying. Madrid are a counter attack team who are not capable of dominating games and will be lucky to win anything this year. They have the biggest names in midfield but certainly not the best midfield. Not a patch on the mighty Barca midfield.

What are the chances of us selling Huntelaar in January and buying Romelu Lukaku? I think that would be a great bit of business. Lukaku is exactly what we're looking for, a tough, fast, skillful target man willing to play on the bench and given time to grow.

Is it surprise that midfield of 4 who played like 10 games together is unbalanced?! Please. Not capable of dominating games? WTF? Did they dominated that "mighty" Barca midfield for all the first half with Ronaldo and Kaka at only 50%?

When it comes to Real's midfield. It is really down to who they play in what formation.
For example, if they play with a 4-3-3. With CR9-Benzema-Kaka as the 3 upfront. Then their midfield should be two of Lass, Diarra, Gago and one of Xabi,or VDV. And not having Xabi and Lass as two DM, while playing 4 attackers who does not track back along with two fullbacks who plays like wingers instead of fullbacks.

I think Real is a balance team, or at the very least, they have the players to be a balance team. Only problem is that the coach can't field a balance team as the President wants to see all his attackers playing at the same time.

I´m not a Vasco fan, but I´m glad they get rid of that criminal. Eurico did so much damage to Vasco, that it´s a miracle they are back to first division so fast.

The last damage was the sell of. P. Coutinho to Inter for 3 millions(in 3X) two weeks before the finish of its tenure as Vasco president.

Thanks for the response Brasileiro. I've been reading a really interesting book which is about Brazilian football and the way of life there. It's really a good read as it goes into detail about Brazilian football at all levels and how it's so close to Brazilian life. However, reading about Eurico Miranda and some of his interviews I was truly shocked by him, and I must say he simply disgusted me. I must say whilst I love the beauty of Brazilian football, the corruption in the sport is terrible.

Anyway, the reason I asked about Eurico is because I thought he might be the reason we never had many deals with Vasco in the past and why maybe we didn't go after Alex Teixera.
