We're linked with Torres and Cassano today (on both goal.com and milannews) and we're apparently also interested in Rannochia (yesterday on milannews). It's doubtful we'll get any of them though.

Sigh.. What to believe? Honestly, interest in players such as Milan Jovanovic or Rudd Van Nistelroy sound more plausible.

Torres? Is Berlusconi auctioning off his call girls to finance this club now? Torres is at least 50 million euros, and he is worth every single penny of that; Cassano would be cheaper but should still be above 20 million euros. We might have that kind of money, but Cassano will take away Ronaldinho's spot, and lord knows Berlusconi will never ever let that happen.
I am really interested in this Ranocchia kid. I think he can already be a good third option behind Nesta and Silva, not to mention he seems like a natural born successor for Nesta. If there is one rumor that even remotely makes sense, this would be the one. |

Ranocchia is a great prospect but Juve have been interested in him for a while now as well as others (I believe Inter and Man Utd have been linked to him too). |

I finally realize the problem of Milan not being able to sign top notch players. It is not b/c they can pay the money or the players not interest in coming.
IT HAS to do with being other clubs using more money than Milan to sign those players. I mean, if Dzeko only costs 5 mil and no one wants him. Milan can get him for sure, same for Torres. Seriously if Torres is going somewhere it will be Real or Barcelona. Dzeko is an interesting case, as he seems to want to come to Milan, but I have a feeling that if ManU or Chelsea come calling, he will opt to play for them instead of Milan. |

He's a 1000% fan of Atletico Madrid, all his family is for Atletico, Real wanted him when he was at Atletico and he said many times he would never put a foot in this club ... that will never happen. Barcelona is more possible, but I don't see Barcelona trying to buy Torres as they already have Ibrahimovic and they should have to change their formation to use both players ... So, for Torres, the only valid options are: - staying at Liverpool (which will happen I think except if they can't qualify for the next CL, something that could result by his sale) - going to another English club (Chelsea, Manchester, but I don't see him leaving Liverpool for one of these clubs, especially because the big 4 teams tend not to sell their stars to the other big 4 teams) - that leaves us with Italian clubs (Inter, Juventus, why not us if we suddenly have some money to spend) or a come-back to Atletico |

Only Barca, Inter, Juve and Milan can sign Torres, no one else. He will not play EPL vs Liverpool, and will not play for Real Madrid. I am sure Inter and Juve could be ready to pay for him, specially now when Battega is back in Juve with the pact with Agnielli that happened in past weeks.
Rannochia is a great potential from what I saw, but he is also in hands of Juve as I've heard, and lets not forget Criscito is 50% Juve player and Grosso is 32/33 or something, Cannavaro is 35. Soon Criscito will be Juve player Im sure of that.

if we buy torres(and not sell any key players)i will shut my pessimism out for many years to come..he is one of my dream players the last decade..
but lets be more realistic now,i read an jovanonits' interview yesterday on a greek newspaper(olympiakos is interested in him too),and he said that he has spoken with milan but things are stable.. i ve watched jovanovits a lot this year and although i really think he is a good player,i dont believe he is a milan material, especially considering the age(28)..if he was 5-6 years young then i'd think he had some potential.. i was curious about krasic these days, any news "from him"?

I think if a good deal presents itself, for a position that we really need, we will spend the money. We were about to do that with Cissokho but Berlusconi chickened out, but I think he's regretting it now.
This is why I think we will sign Dzeko in the summer. He made sure to add a release clause that Milan were willing to pay, so it's all set for the summer. We'll sell Klaas Jan to fund most of it. I wouldn't mind selling R80 and replacing him with Krasic on the right, with Pato on left. That would mean the only real renovation is in our defense. That's a problem, I agree. The problem is that you can't buy a great player and then keep him on the bench. We don't want another Gourcuff situation. You can't buy Hernanes and expect Pirlo to be benched, or Seedorf. They're too good and are paid way too much for that. So you have to sell them first before you buy their replacement. The other way is to buy a really young player who would be willing to fight for his place and has the potential to transition into the team. I don't know, I just don't seem to think that we're heading down the abyss. We came close to it, but I think that the players stepped up and are fighting again. We don't need a revolution, just a few pieces here and there. Will the pieces arrive? That's the question that needs answering, but I don't want to assume anything before we see what actually happens.

I'm not sure I want to hear rumours about strikers like Torres and Dzeko really. Because I will be too disappointed if we then end up with someone like Jovanovic...

It will be funny, if Torres stayed in Pool, Dzeko go to ManU and Milan sign Jovanovic then offload Hunter +Cash to ManU in exchange for Berba and Pato to the Blues for Malouda+Alex+Cash.
Jokes aside, I think as long as Milan start to spend big on players, I will be happy regardless of who that player is. Since it will be a sign that Berlu is willing to spend and commit to making the squad into Grande Milan again. Last edited by Gabriel489; 02-01-2010 at 10:44. |

I disagree with that ... spending just to spend is useless. Look at Inter some years ago, they spent and spent and spent again each mercato, but they never spent their money like they should have done !! Real Madrid has had the same problem (I will use a past tense if they win a title this season). We can sign Torres, Drogba, Villa and Luis Fabiano tomorrow, I will be the first person here to come and criticize our management ... I prefer smart and cheap purchases (Thiago Silva for example) instead of expensive and useless ones. So of course, we can do expensive and useful purchases, but if we can have the same result with a cheap purchase, let's do it, don't you think so ?? (I don't write about the names from nowadays, it's just a general point of view on mercatos) |

To me thats no such thing as good and cheap purchase anymore, there is only good and expensive purchase or over-rated and expensive purchase. T. Silva costed Milan about 15-20mil. Thats not a cheap purchase, esp for a defender who once failed in Europe. Both Dzeko and Torres might end up be over-rated/expensive purchase for Milan as Milan build its attack around Dinho. For the games I saw Dzeko played, he is someone like Ibra or Drogba, someone who will make runs but be most effective with the ball. Torres is great for teams who play counter attack, as his speed and positioning is second to none. For me, Villa is probably the best possible striker to play with Dinho, as he does not waste much inside the box and is great at controlling passes from the wings. Point is that, Milan does not spend money anymore, period. Once they start doing again, everyone will be happy as it shows that Berlu actually do care about the well being of the team instead of balancing books. |
