For anybody who still thinks Borriello should play ahead of Hunterlaar please watch the game again. 90 minutes of absolute garbage from Borriello, an to be fair most Milan players. Hunter did more in the 10 minutes he was on, producing an excellent save from Cesar and then one from Lucio. Yet despite Borriello being bullied out of the game and not producing a single moment of class or composure, I wonder who will star the next game? It can only be that he has photos of Leonardo doing a Tiger and is blackmailing him because I can't see where this complete blind spot for him comes from Leonardo. He has done an excellent job in his first year given the circumstances but tis one issue is really beginning to bug me.

ok guys it was sad but i dont think title race stopped for us here
this game shows are problems first nesta is the spiritual leader of this team giving security and starts our game we have to find a player do that if nesta is out, second becks is good but not what we need there we need a player going through the defence give the ball or create a goal on his own, borielo cant play a whole defence alone and we cant play with only one wing (antonini-ronnie) we lost a battle but the war isnt lost! |

I was just about to write the same thing Geo about Borriello, it's funny how some people expect that a player must score in every game he plays.

LOL at all the Mourinho hating, I personally love the guy. The guy is a proven winner regardless of what people think of him. Milan should have hired him when they could, no one would be complaining when we are celebrating consecutive championships. And please stop with the praise for Gattuso, the most overrated footballer last decade. Just look over to Cambiasso or even Ambrosini, and he pales to them as a defensive midfielder. He spends half his time chasing balls that he has given away, and gets credit for it. Sorry if I offended Gattuso lovers, freedom of speech.

It isn't one bad game! He has played well at times this sson and desrves credit as he is doing his best. But I have seen 3 or 4 games where he is utter garbage and Hunter is still forced to sit on the bench. Ronnie was awful tonight but nobody in the squad can replace him. Hunter is absolutely dying to get on and has shown he can be a threat and still Leo insists on playing Borrielo no matter how badly he has played. If Hunter doesn't start the next game he should leave because he'll never get picked.

Almost agreed. We can't be sure 100% about Dzeko. However, Until Sheva gone (2006), we do not have a real contender for Top Scorer It is really sad, do you know any team that win a big league without a Top Scorer fighter? |

Bashing Borriello for our inability to score in this game is ridiculous, in my opinion. Even if you put Shevchenko as a lone striker against Inter's power defense, I doubted whether Sheva could score a goal. The problem is Borriello is constantly surrounded by two defenders and he is not as agile as Pato, but not as powerful as Milito. A second striker could have opened up more space and possibly goal scoring opportunities.
Another thing is that we could have bought Sneijder instead of Inter. He was instrumental during his time on the field. We definitely need a midfielder, besides Seedorf, who can run up the field and shoot well. How many times we see ball wasted because of no one making a run into the box or shooting outside of the box? Side note: My gut feeling told me that Ronaldinho was gonna flicking miss the penalty kick... that's karma man, karma... |

but I really believe I am right, here are the games that were big (not necessarily big teams all of them) that we were unable to perform in: Real 2-3 Milan: True true, Milan totally owned Real Madrid after the Pirlo miraculous goal that came out of nowhere. Before that, we were really clueless upfront and were getting owned in possession. Milan 1-1 Real: Both Milan and Real were ridiculous in this game. Milan totally failed to show up in this game. Yeah Pato scored a great goal that was disallowed, but what else did the team do for the rest of the game? Milan 1-1 Marseille: If Marseille wins this, they would be ahead of us in the group standings so Milan knew the importance of this game. Milan were totally totally owned tactically and failed to prove any threat against Marseille's goal, and not to mention Marseille hit the post twice and really deserved the 3 points. Zurich 1-1 Milan: A penalty saved Milan in this game as Milan AGAIN fails to win in their most important game of the season against one of their most easiest opponents this year. Milan 2-1 Roma: honestly bro, Milan was total crap until the half time change of tactics (which changed our season). To be honest, even though we deserved victory, it was hardly a great performance as besides the goals, we created nothing (maybe one other chance). Fiorentina? look what his Inter done to you...it's made you hallucinate! We haven't played them yet..Juve 0-3 Milan: Juve is in its one of its worst forms ever, and if you see Milan's 3 goals they were all Kaladze/Favalli-esque mistakes from Juve. Milan did not have a great performance but had a great result that does not reflect Milan's true performance in the game. also notice I dont mention the Palermo 2-0 defeat at home, because I thought our team played brilliant even though Palermo deserved to win. and with respect to most of you who are defending Boriello, you do have a good point, however you are forgetting about Boriello's performances in other big games where he totally switches off. I've noticed it for a while now. I also agree with most, today showed why we could use Dzeko. Last edited by hitmannq8; 24-01-2010 at 17:25. |

The arguement for Borrielo ahead of Hunterlaar is he is better at linking the play , a better target man and holding the ball up. Would anybody like to show me one example of this in the game? No because it didn't happen. We have sucedded at times inspite of him not because of him. He does his best but Hunter is clearly a better player.

I seriously don't understand how so many of you are trying to put the blame on Abate or Beckham or Antonini.
I was never a big fan of Antonini, but he was not at fault for the Inter goals and he played well. I don't think he was any worse than Santon and I don't see him not being "Milan material." Abate is not a RB, he's a midfielder and winger, and the fact that he's playing as well as he does is great, because he's making sacrifices for the team. Plus, who else would you like to play for RB? An unfit Bonera? Beckham might not be a Pato, I don't see how anyone could expect Beckham to play that role (has he ever?), but the amount of crosses he put on a silver platter for Borriello was astonishing. His corners are 50 times better than Pirlos, and we finally had some dangerous corners once Beckham took them. This game was not about tactics. I'm not going to buy into that BS. This was a game about power. We were over-powered, physically. That is how Inter plays, if you think there is some sort of "tactics" involved, then explain to me why Maicon is seen as one of the major creative forces of this team. Plus, where were the amazing "tactics" that led to the two Inter goals? A Maicon dive, for a free-kick (SHOULDN'T DIDA HAVE SAVED THAT OR WAS IT JUST ME?!?!) and a long ball that took a lucky bounce off of Abate's head. So where is the brilliant tactics? Because I don't see them. Again, like the Juve game, this was always going to be an ugly game. The problem is that if Ronaldinho isn't performing, that means other have to show up. Seedorf was poor, and Pirlo's passing was good until he got into the attacking third. The only player who actually did well in putting us in an attacking position was Beckham. Seedorf setup Huntelaar, but, again, the blame really has to go on Borriello. Borriello missed countless headers, but many of them were tough (some more than others), however how he missed that header from point blank range, I don't know. That was the turning point of the game, and everything else that people are saying, "Oh Galliani this is your fault!" or "Abate is so crappy!" and all that other stuff isn't right. The problem is we have not had a real striker, and its not about selling Kaka, because Ronaldinho has played better (so far) this season than Kaka last season, and definitely better than how Kaka is playing now. Ronaldinho is not supposed to be our top scorer, that's the difference. He is. Kaka was in those THREE years after Sheva left. Kaka was our top scorer the year after Sheva left and in the league (with 16, Pato overall top scorer with 17) last year. If you want to see what our major problem is, its the lack of a striker. Barca last year had E'too, Inter have Milito, it is why Milan is going after a striker. We cannot rely on our fantastista for goals, its just not going to happen. Pato can score, but he's not going to be able to in this system, maybe if he was playing like Sheva, then I would say maybe. However, the striker goals (like Milito's today) and the ones that Ronaldinho scored against Juve, those are what we are missing. Everything else is more easily fixable. In fact, our defense was joint best with Inter (we are now -2 from them) so again, its not a problem of defense (defensive COVER, yes, I'll agree, but that wasn't the problem in this game.) I want Dzeko, tomorrow. |
