Thanx to Marcus MErk vs Milan ( Sheva ) and that clown vs Chelsea, Barca won what they have won... And now they behave like kings of the world...

About Benzema: I'd take him over Dzeko for 25mln right now. But I lack few milions

What our win in 94 has to do with this is beyond me.

And what are you talking about we wouldve got 4CL in 5 years? IF IF IF... come on man you can do better than that. liverpool was lucky to win in instanbul, but these things happen. you count another CL the year depor beat us? if I remember correctly that was only quarter final...
what if Juve beat us at the penalty shootout? what if Pippo didnt score that extremely lucky goal (deflecting pirlo's freekick)? we wouldnt have won any CL
You can't count that. That's different Barca that won the title in 2006. Their coach was different, their style was different (Ronaldihno dependent that is), their crucial players were different, Deco and Ronaldihno were two who pulled the strings, unlike Xavi and Messi now...

I mentioned 94 final because Guardiola was a player (playmaker in fact) in that Barca team and he's made the same team now. I was talking about this earlier. The same team, with one defender who sometimes acts as playmaker, distributing long balls and coming up to help (Koeman back then, Pique now), with 3 man midfield of physically weak players that are good with the ball, great passing play, but can't withstand the pressure...

I mentioned Deportivo because if it wasn't for FREAK defeat against them, we would face Monaco in semi's and Porto in finals. I don't know about you, but I would bet in win against these two back then. This is what I'm talking about here, penalties are luck, you're talking and talking about luck, but our defeats against L'pool and Deportivo are FREAKIEST defeats in modern history of football, luck has NOTHING to do with it. If it was for luck we could lose that penalty shout-out against Juve, we could maybe, but just maybe, lose the final to L'pool, but if it wasn't for something unexplainable happen, we could end up with 4 titles in 5 years. And, as mrki said, Barca's path to CL glory for those two years was patched by bad referees' decisions, which proved crucial, first perfectly good Sheva's goal disallowed in 2006 semi's and than a bunch of bad referees decision in last year semi's.

Personally, I blamed Carlo for both defeats that year. As I really don't see any coach in the world could lose a return leg of 4-0 away as no team can even score more than 2 unanswer goals the whole season. Or lose a 3-0 lead at half time in the CL final.

seems like i am the first to post after the Man-U game...

to me the match would have turned either way after R80 scored.....we didnt keep the pressure....i think that we lost the match coz of 3 things below & not coz Man-U outplayed us....

1. to me the crucial moment of the match was Antonini being substituted......until then Nani could do nothing at all from the rite wing....after he was gone valencia & rafael banged in so many crosses which led to the final two man-u goals....

2. Nesta was very poor yesterday night, so unlike him yesterday for the 3rd man-u goal...

3. Pato was ruined again as a right winger....he could not go past evra or evans....if pato played in Hunterlaar's position we would have at least fot a 3rd goal to level...Huntelaar was just awful !!!!!!!! Real made a fool out of us !!!

LEO - plssss play abate as right wing (as a super sub in the 2nd half), bonera as right back & pato as the central striker...

yeah the team they have now won 6!!!! prices last year... that offcourse isnt something special.

I know what you mean with that '94 final but that has nothing to do with how good barca is at this moment. different players, different types of football... etc.

Luck is such an important thing in football, yesteday's game proves this again! every team that will win CL need to have some luck here and there and there will always be controversial wins. thats football.

We need a whole new midfield well 2 new players to start right away and 2 for backup.I won't name any names because anyone that would be perfect will not arrive . Our coach's have do do with scraps free players and cheap signings if even that.3 or 4 years ago we would have beaten that man utd team easily , but this isn't 3 - 4 years ago and our money man should realise this . We went out to arsenal easily bremen last year also too easily and it looks like we are out to UTD again this year not easily but still its going to be mission imossible.
It shows that with these big games you get almost a 4 million gate , so Berlu should see you have to spend money to make money. My biggest fear is that Pirlo , Ambro, Rino , Oddo , Kala , Zambro and Janku will be around for another few years.
We need a player in Pirlos role that can do what he used to do and another mid for the right Flamini can take Ambros place and we need a striker who can score 25-30 goals a season. We need a good goalkeeper as Dida is a good shot stoper but cannot do the simple things well or even adequate.
We need a quality cb and a good wb.Thats 8 players who could they be I honestly don't know it seems like Im dreaming and it shouldn't be a dream to get the players we need. And that is the truth we need 8 new players a goalkeeper a centre back a wing back 4 midfielders 2 to start 2 for backup and a lethal striker , without these signings we will become a Fiorentina or a Roma and no longer be a great club with a chance of winning competitions.

Our midfield (and attack) showed signs of bad concentration yesterday, it wasn't physical actually. And probably a tactiacl problem with Leo letting Ronaldinho, Pato and Huntelaar resting when they lost the ball.

Pirlo, Ambrosini and Beckham were unable to keep the ball nor do a simple pass during the 40 minutes blackout of the second half.

Pato will be fully fit for the return leg and will make a joke of Evra (which he partially did yesterday). By being fully fit, he will have to help in defense, because he is young, and it's not normal that the guy walks when he is near the middle line.

So, to make the link between the game of yesterday and this topic, the only thing we can say is that we need depth, but we already know it ...

Even if Favalli wasn't that bad yesterday, having to use him in such an important game isn't something that we should see, Favalli should only be a sub for the games against small Serie A teams, nothing else.

What is the main problem!

We can talk about luck and everything else but honestly we lost the game only because of our midfield!!!! The fact is we are not winning the CL and Scudetto in the last couple of years only because of our midfield!!!!!

Guys, Milan have good and relatively young attack with Ronaldinho, Pato, Borriello, Huntelaar and good and young defense with Antonini, Thiago Silva, Nesta, Bonera, Abate!
But our midfield is done, way too old and slow (except Flamini)! The most important part of a team is the midfield, every game is decided in that area! We won the 2 CL and got to the final because that time we outplayed the opponents' midfield! But right now we are too slow in that department. With a good, dynamic, fast midfield our forwards would be killing machines and our defense could have more secured!
Our midfielders can still play sometimes outstanding thanks to their technical abilities against opponents below their level, but when they meet with a dynamic midfield like MU has they are done!
With this midfield we will always be 2nd and 3rd in Seria A and will be out in the last 16 in the CL!
If we would like to be the best team again, we would only have to rejuvenate our midfield and add some players to the attack and defense and count on some youth players!

Attack: We only need Dzeko
Defense: Only need Vidic and a right back plus a goalie
Midfield: We must have Krasic and Hernanes and one defensive midfielder!
With six right transfer we will become the best team again, we are not that far!

In: Dzeko, Krasic, Hernanes, Vidic, RB, Goalie (Marchetti) and some youth players
Out: Inzaghi, Beckham, Favalli, Jankulovski, Kaladze, Oddo, Dida

Attack: Dzeko, Borriello, Huntelaar, Ronaldinho, Pato, Adiyiah, Paloschi (Zigoni)
Midfield: Krasic, Flamini, Hernanes, DM (Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso, Ambrosini - bench players or out) Strasser
Defense: Antonini, Zambrotta, Thiago Silva, Nesta, Vidic, Bonera, Abate, RB, Astori, Albertazzi, Darmian
Goalie: Marchetti, Abbiati

Dzeko
Ronaldinho Pato
Krasic
Flamini Hernanes
Antonini Thiago Silva Nesta RB
Marchetti

The only problem with this line up, there is not many italian in it, but unfortunately I can't replace the foreign players with an italian right now
But I hope our youth italian players will represent our future soon!

And by being realistic, what could that become ?
Unless a miracle named "big money for Milan coming from Berlu and Fly Emirates" happens, don't hope too much for more than 2-3 of these players.

I agree with Jay and Gregorio about our midfield.

This is what I wrote in Manchester thread:

Quote:
Originally Posted by Revolver View Post
Our midfield is slow and can't cover much space. No matter is it flat 3 or 2-1. That's our real problem. Not side-backs, not striker, but midfield. Since Gattuso lost his pace and energy (start of 2007/2008), our midfield is simply slow. First we were overrun by Arsenal's midfield in 2007/2008, then this year same things happen: First Inter defeat was because we were overrun in midfield, we almost exit CL in group phase, because we were overrun by Marseille midfield, second Inter defeat - same thing, last night - same thing.

As we're stuck with Pirlo, who's slow (always was) we need some pace to cover him. We need to get the right balance of speed and power in midfield. In Ancelotti's prime, we also had a three-man midfield with Pirlo, but back then Seedorf was pretty quick and could cover enormous amount of space, Gattuso was quick and could cover even more than Seedorf...
Now Seedorf lost a little bit of everything, but mostly his physical qualities, especially stamina, and Gattuso, though technically still into top 3 defensive midfielders in the world, lost a lot of pace and even more stamina, which is crucial for his chase-every-player game. Now we have Ambrosini, our captain, who's great player I must say, he plays better than ever, but he's slow, always was, and unfortunately he doesn't have energy to cover amount of space needed. Covering current Pirlo and Seedorf would be a tough task even for Gattuso in his prime.
So, what we need is to convert Matthieu Flamini into a stater. He's very talented DM, has pace, has energy, has right mentality to fight and chase players down... In few years he could become one of top 3 DMs in the world. All he need to fix is decision making (experience!) and to use his left foot for something more than standing.
As for Seedorf, though it's more for Banter thread, he must play in every important game until the end of the season. He's crucial for 4-3-3 system. Without him, Ronaldinho is isolated on the left side. Though it's hard to find a younger player of his qualities, his replacement should be a player who can be pretty quick and is strong. Ironically, Gourcuff would be as perfect for that position as no player could be.
To add:

We urgently need a good keeper. As some of you already said, reliable goalkeeper can make a team perform 30% better. Abbiati was great last season, not "great" like Dida (i.e. make unbelievable saves, and then in the same match make unexplainable mistake, and then in the second match can't save an easy shot, like Pandev's free-kick, Scholes' goal...), but reliable, good off the line, nice and secure catching, good shot stopping and, most important, consistency in doing all that. He should be our keeper until the rest of the season and if he shows he's on the same level as last year, then he should stay as our No. 1. If not, we should buy a keeper.

Second thing, we need a great side back. Zambrotta and Antonini can perform on their day, but they are inconsistent. So, they could cover one side (as either can play on both sides) and we should get someone for the other side. Irony again, Cissokho would be perfect, but that's mission impossible now. So, I would go for Maggio. He's the best side-back in Serie A this year and he plays for Napoli so he should be available. I'm not for spending so much on Vidic, it would be better to get, say, Kjaer, as Nesta will not always be here. We have Abate, one of Antonini/Zambrotta and Bonera, and these along with Kjaer would be a great cover.

In attack we need Dzeko and that's it.

For midfield, I've said everything in quoted part. Hernanes is, from what I've heard about him, the same weak player as Pirlo so I don't believe he will come, and he's expensive too (25 M). Krasic, again from what I've heard, is a winger or AM in a system with 2 strikers and I don't think he would fit into our system as AM.

So, it's not all that black. With 4 or 5 wise signings we can be on top again.
