What about Gareth Bale? He's young, quick, and can deliver some good crosses. He can also play in midfield. We could have had him for cheap last summer or in january, bt i'm not so sure now.

What is more worrying than management not spending money to buy big name players is that they are not developing any prodigious youth and not scouting out new talents. There is only talk of signing big names and no talk of scouting, unearthing and developing the next big thing. Look at Barca and Man Unt, both have first teams with several youth team products...Barca has Iniesta, Xavi, puyol, messi, pedro, Pique, bojan, busquets all of whom came up through the ranks.

Even Fiorentina, Napoli, Palermo etc. are unearthing new prodigious talents while Milan have only Pato to boast about.

Fiorentina discovered\scouted Jovetic, Ljajić, Babacar, Vargas and a few others
Napoli scouted Hamsik, Lavezzi, Santacoccre, Cigarini etc.
Palermo...kjaer, Pastore

All these free players available ... that turns my head !! And probably the one of Galliani !!
Anyway, if we do sign so many free players, I think there will be a new trend in a near future with players not renewing their contracts just to get signed by big clubs for free ...

And I think it's interesting, we're going to have some depth with free players without spending our transfer budget, so we should maybe wait for one or two new players this summer, I mean maybe expensive players.

PS: Medias are going to link us with all free players .. whereas we're maybe going to sign only one free player.

Geo ( maybe we can call you Tav, haha ), Srna will not be a free palyer untill he is 45 probably He is a legend in there, his wage is HUGE ( he said he stayed in there coz he has wages that he can hardly get in the western clubs ) and he always says he feels like home there.

Srna is a player that can play for Milan, Im 100% sure, but Milan will never pay what Sakhtar wants for him. Aldough, Srna said that his boss will not create problems to him if he decides to leave for some big club. Strange man Srna, but great player if you ask me.

Someone mantioned that Corluka can help us, as he can play CB, RB and DM. Yes, Corluka can help and HE WAS OFFERED to Milan by Naletilić with a low price ( who offered Modric and Jovetic etc. ), but Galliani decided those players cannot help our "campioni".

Chamakh ( sp? I never know) - has he signed with anyone? Aldough he is not Benzema, Dzeko, he is a very good forward, much miore dangerous then Cocau, and can play for Milan without doubt as a, lets say, 3rd CF. Agree?

Also, Vargas said the is not sure he'll stay in Firentina, and its possible he'll go to Juve. ( come on buy Vargas!! ). About Bale, in my oppinion he'll be a brilliant LB in 2,3 years...

I am of the opinion that we will have no transfer budget , it really makes sense think about it please free players no money spent small contracts as they are not World Class player's..........If Godin , Cacau , Yepes arrived with Dzeko , Hernanes , Krasic and Bonucci and Marchetti also Simplicio for free and Kala ,Oddo , Dida , Pippo , Favalli , Janku , Hunter/Borri gone then Im all for it but deep down you guy's as well as me know that there will be no big signings not even small signings. Godin by the way im cool with (like it matters what i think) as he is young and good.

Godin's a good buy. I really hope we can land this one. Young and more importantly talented CB who can act as a backup, isn't that exactly what everyone wants? We need an extra CB, that's for sure, since I don't believe Bonera is good enough to be our 3rd CB, considering we have Nesta.

This would also alow us to focus what resources we have on other areas of the team.

No way you call me Tav ... it's the start of my name and I won't like that !!

About Chamakh, he will leave for England for sure. It's his dream, he asked to leave the last 2-3 years (to go to Tottenham if I'm not wrong the first time, and now Arsenal, a club still wanting him if I'm not wrong), it looks like this year is going to be the one seeing him leave France for England. I don't know how they will manage the end of this season in Bordeaux, but if Laurent Blanc leaves, they're going to have some problems as Gourcuff already said he could leave too if Blanc leaves, and that some other players will also want to leave (so having this kind of coach, almost a guru, is good to have a team following the same goals, but it becomes a huge blow when the guy leaves and everyone wants to follow him).

If we want to make our mercato in France, I'd say let's buy Tremoulinas and Michel Bastos from Lyon (can play as a bad LB, a very good LM and an excellent winger, played on both flanks as a winger for Lyon, but he has to play on the left side, he didn't have a very good season in Lyon, he needed to acclimate to this new team, but since few weeks, he is again the real Michel Bastos, the guy who was great in Lille, and he scored in his last 3 games). With these two guys, our left flank would be done for many years: Antonini/Tremoulinas (Mister Perfect Cross, he's at the origin of the goal of Bordeaux yesterday) and Ronaldinho/Bastos (fast, technical, amazing shot, left footed, excellent cross too, just imagine Bastos and Tremoulinas on the same side ... any striker with decent headers would score 20 goals a season).

Jay Crisp, I know you try to convince yourself (and managed to do it) about how bad is going to be our mercato, our next season, probably our following mercato and following season too, but until the summer is over (it didn't start ...), I won't say nor believe this kind of statement "We won't buy anyone". I'll just wait and see.

I have not convinced my Geo until I see real evidence and players that cost money playing for Milan then Im technically right.Id love nothing more than Milan to buy some players spend wisely and guy's like Godin are great even better because there free and Cacau good squad player , but until good players arrive for reasonable money im right , im going on last year and the winter and the many statements about not spending lying about Cissokho and only beeing linked with and mgt only talking about free players.

I'm more concerned with Leo's future with us than these recent transfer gossips. We're talking about an excellent scout who brought us Kaka, Pato, and Silva; as well as a coach who can instill confidence to both experienced (Dinho) and less-experienced players (Antonini & Abate).

Keeping him at the helm is worth signing player like Dzeko as it will give a clear signal to our team (senior and youth) that B&G are serious in rebuilding Milan, as well as the fans whose contribution (in season ticket or worldwide merchandise selling) cannot be overlooked.

On the opposite polar, letting Leo go means we must build up from the scratch again. And in the process of doing so, I doubt that our relatively young ones like Pato, Silva, Flamini will have the patience especially after seeing the coach nurturing them was shown the door by the management.

Just keep your expectation low and you will see that it is a lot easier.

To be honest, unless Berlu wants to spend money-like 50-70mil or so. Our best summer signings will be Leo, Dinho and Pato all staying. Then Berlu will come out and say that, keeping those 3 is like winning CL.

Then when things don't go as plan till Jan. They will sell Pato and claims that he wants to learn English or his g/f wants to raise their kids in a Spainish speaking country like SPAIN.

seems like everyday we are being linked to another free player...today it's Gallas and there are editorials saying Milan should go after Juan Maldonado (23, Flamengo?, Non-EU passport, RB).

I say we should go for this new kid called Leo Messi I think...the problem is he's only 22 I don't think he's experienced or mature enough yet for a team like Milan..

Out of topic a bit: How do you think about the reinvestigation of Calciopoli 2006?

I think Inter would give the Scudetto 2006 to Roma and start next season with negative point

With only 3 CL spots for 11/12, next season would be fun with handicaped Inter, crazy spending Juve and do-your-best Milan & Roma. Serie A is very competitive this year and will be even more competitive

This I could care less if milan bought big names.

i'm pissed on all the missed signings of small fees we've been linked to. Pjanic, Jovetic and Pastore all linked to milan and nothing happened. Heck I remember marko marin (awesome in bundesliga now) too.

These guys all cost 5-8 mil (aka gourcuff like signings) and look now? 3 times the fee to get them!

The Jovetic one particularly kills me cause savicevic told milan to sign him. But who did milan use there non-EU spot on that summer? DIGAO!!!!

Why? Cause kaka's father pressured milan to sign him or kaka would go tm adrid (along with saying give kaka a raise or elsE). BTW, this for me is a huge reason why Kaka will never be up among the nonyouth team legends of milan like Sheva, seedorf, pippo let alone the real legends like maldini, baresi etc.

You can't claim to not have money then go extend your 'senators' on HUGE contracts and complain you can't afford players. You can't do it both ways Galliani.

I want Dzeko for ex. But I'd much rather sign 3-4 quality high talent players like the ones i just listed than just Dzeko
