I was planning to start an almost similar thread but since we already have this thread for Milan youth system so let me post the question here:

Over the years which are the best players to come through the Milan youth system?

This question came to my mind after looking at outstanding talents like Fedrico Macheda, Jhonny Evans of Manchester United and Bojan, Pedro and Busquets of Barcelona.

You can't compare our youth team with team of Barcelona.

We just started to care about our youth (to invest into youth) since about last year so we can't expect there will be a superstar or at least good young player next year or in the next 2 years.

The effect of the investment started appearing. The primavera team have been having good-great season this year, something we haven't seen for such a long time. They are in the Coppa final right now (away 1-1 with Palermo) and second in Primavera competition (they were 1st. for weeks).

What about Palibrk Uros?
How is he doing? I heard he should be very good can someone tell us more about him?

Baresi and Maldini ofcourse, but other than those superstars there isn't many. Albertini, Costacurta and world cup winner Collovati also... and we can include Miccoli, as he started his youth career at Milan.

When i was in Milan in 2008 i brought up this subject to a local, he said the main reason for us not having a great youth system is because we just steal from Atalanta hahaha.

In terms of the current youth prospects, are there any who have really great potential?

There are some if you ask the youth coaches. But then again, that's what they've been saying about Matteo Ardemagni, Sandro Bloudek, Lino Marzoratti, Niccola Pozzi, Davide di Gennaro and the likes.

There are though more familiar names like Marco Donadel, Fabrizio Miccoli, Pasquale Foggia, Cristian Brocchi, or Massimo Oddo but even on their heydays they're nowhere near being world class.

So excuse me for being skeptical with this "building from youth team" business. We haven't been that good at producing quality players from our youth for many years so why should I believe it's a different case now

Palibrk was the third best scorers of Allievi Nazionali last season (Gaeta was our top scorers and Verdi second). While Gaeta and Verdi managed to break into Primavera, Palibrk plays this season for Beretti. It seems that he is starter for Beretti. According to acmilan.com he and other two players are top scorers, each has made 8 goals.

I think IF this (stealing) method works, why not continue to do so? Manutd is well known for that for years (though of course they have their own very good youth products as well ), Macheda is one of the examples, they 'steal' from all over the world and nurture them..

But then I think 'stealing' is one thing, and nurturing is another thing, .. we could get a very great talents but in the end fail to nurture them (bad youth system, bad youth coaches, etc ), none will ever be produced ( promoted) from our youth academy.... and or perhaps our youth scouts are really bad one altogether, spotting the the wrong talent + we fail to nurture them, thus zero result..

I guess something must be wrong somewhere (in our youth system)...
