I don't agree he's far from world-class. If he's done just "good" then what about other Lyon players?! From what I saw in CL he's the best Lyon's player. Pjanic is FANTASTIC talent and already a great player. When it matters most, he's better than Misimovic. Even when he was 17 his final passes were sick. Furthermore, he's an attacking midfielder who can quickly adapt his game to play a deep-lying playmaker with great success. Something like Pirlo 8-9 years ago. Bosniaco is right, but Pjanic beside Pirlo and Flamini = too weak midfield. |

The relationship could really be used, but at this price, we will be mocked again at the press... The man wrote this article is living in a dream. With Chelsea, Real, Barcelona, Arsenal, Inter, Bayern, M. City and United on the hunt, and with David's rare talent, Benfica are in a comfortable position to make a lot of money. Quote:

Btw, there's no one style of play in Brazil. Thats a common sense that imo hurt a lot some European clubs looking for a player here. Teams from Rio have a style, from South a more Serie A style, and from São Paulo there's a mix. You have Santos playing a style no one play in Brazil, and São Paulo(and Corinthians) playing more like Europeans. There's no one style of play in Brazil... this is a myth and a big misunderstood. A professional team that still believe in this type of prejudice(no offense) will lose a lot of opportunities. I know that a lot of teams(and people) believe in this Eurocentrism thing, and are more willing to pay a lot of money in "a proven player in Europe" as example, but we know this can't be taken as a fact. There are lot of flops(Europe to Europe) that were bought for a lot of money, and were considered as players that already have proven something in European football. A Club need to do their homework, see the character of the player, if he is a hard worker, if he's coachable(sp?), if his style of play combines the style of the League(and team) and things like this. If a team purchase Neymar to be a winger, or Ganso to play in a 4-4-2 flat, they will be throwing money to the wind. Since I talk about money, look a this(in portuguese): http://globoesporte.globo.com/Esport...EFINITIVO.html A amazing purchase for any team in Europe. Santos has until 31 August to pay 3 Millions(Euros) to São Paulo for the rights of Arouca. Just 3 millions... unbelievable!!! A box to box mid turned into a holder(#5) and the guy that was the engine of this amazing Santos team. Was a regular in Brazil youth teams and is a sure thing for the NT after S. Africa WC. Imo it's a crime he isn't going right now, but thats Dunga, and he likes more G. Silva's and Josué's. With 15 millions, we can buy him and Jucilei and have a SKILLED and strong midfield for years 9 or 10 years. But you will see... a team like Benfica will pay this for both, and we will be only watching... and in the future, we will be linked to them when they are out of our reach(money wise) ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EDIT: Two amazing games to watch today in Brazil(21:30 Brazil): Copa do Brazil: Santos x Atlético Mineiro(great chance to see Arouca, Neymar, Ganso, Wesley) Libertadores da America: Corinthians x Flamengo second-leg(Jucilei). Shame the games are on the same time. Last edited by Brasileiro; 05-05-2010 at 17:23. |

We'll see next season if he steps up, but with such a coach like Puel, it will be hard (he uses an ultra-defencive approach in CL).

Man City havent qualified for the CL. Im happy about this, as it shows you cant just buy foorball with money alone. At least for one more season anyway. If Liverpool and Arsenal keep up the pace next season, then hopefully they wont qualify then either. oops, I almost forgot this was an AC Milan forum. When something intersting happens in our mercato, Il post lol

I respect him for all the things he has done for Milan in the PAST. But what he is doing to this team right now does not deserve any respect from me whatsoever. Just because he has done good things before doesn't mean he can't be criticized for his actions now. My parents gave me the gift of life, does that mean they should be allowed to take it away whenever they feel like it? Berlusconi shoved that ridiculous low spending strategy down Ancelotti and Leonardo's throats. And he sold the souls of Milan for money and then came out to lie about it. That's what I meant by oppression and betrayal. The Berlusconi in the 90s is someone I respect and admire a great deal of, but the 2010 Berlusconi doesn't deserve anything but my middle finger.

Everytime he got to parade around with a CL cup or bask in adulation during a lap of honor around the San Siro or do a smiling grip and grab with a big new signing, Berlusconi got what he craves...attention and love. He always has gotten as much, if not more, from Milan as Milan has gotten from him. As it stands, now, all he seems to be able to provide is tertiary syphilis.

My opinion is...if Berlusconi does not want to spend millions then fine. But it is reasonable to expect some money to be spent this summer and for some sensible decisions be made. Galliani MUST create money by selling 'assets' or making 'efficiencies'.
Huntelaar is clearly is not suited to a team that doesn't have amazing fullbacks and a midfield with no running power. So after he scores 5 goals at the world cup (and he will because Scneider, Robben and VdV will do what our midfield can't) we can sell him for more money than it would cost to buy a player more suited to our poor squad. Huntelaar has his strengths, but this midfield needs a 'self sufficient' striker who can create goals for himself and play with Pato/ Ronnie. We could do this and have some cash left over! Ronaldhinio, wasnt a big fan when we signed him, not a big fan now. If someone pays anything near 15m for him, I would love to see that money go towards a dynamic midfielder who wants to be involved in all the play (Not just the attacking moves in the summer months like Ronnie). There will be another Schneider on the market this season. I dont want to miss out on whoever that is just to keep the 'dream' alive. We need someone who is up for the challenge of the likes of Cambiasso next season. Ronnie isn't! In defence, surely the combined savings from the terminations of the contracts below would provide the money to sign a world class central defender to give some rest to Nesta (and Thiago who suffer from small injuries from being overplayed). Plus, the new player or Thiago could play at fullback from time to time. I know people here won't see this as necessary, but we need to forward plan for after Nesta. Contracts ending in 2 games time: Kaladze, Janku, Inzaghi, Favalli, Dida, Roma. Please lets not pay Beckham a salary to get injured for the handful of games he plays. That means we could sign 3 world class players for attack, midfield and defence, by just making savings. This would leave Berlusconi in a position where he would only need to 'fund' one transfer 100%. That would be a fullback, if Galliani shows any intelligence, Im sure he can find someone better than anyone we have for around 12m. Imagine a world class striker, midfielder and fullback in our starting lineup alongside Pato, Pirlo, Flamini, Ambrosini, Thiago, Nesta. I think most fans would be happy to see that. Yes, it would leave one fullback position uncatered for, but any of the following could fill the gap on the other fullback position: Antonini, Abate, Thiago or the new centreback, a youth team player. Finally, regarding a goalkeeper. Beggars cant be choosers, so Abbiati would need to remain our no 1. Unlike much of this season, at least we would have some forward memnetum infront of him. That would leave us with players who are not good enough for our first team, but would be dream squad players: Boriello, Seedorf, Gatusso, Antonini, Abate, Bonera, Yepes, Zambrotta. In the right situations, anyone of these would be great options to have coming off the bench as impact players or to defend the lead, or playing the Seria A game straight after a CL tie. If injuries do get really ba, then whats the primavera for? This particular Milan fan would like to see someone like Verdi come on as a fourth choide striker. Sorry, for the long post. But if an armchair fan like me can come up with what I think is a half decent suggestion, then its not too much to expect Galliani (and Berlusconi to crack his whip) to actually carry out a good transfer campaign.

It seems that Gallas will not renew with Arsenal, I wonder if he'd be worth a grab. Honestly, if we need to rebuild the squad and we have very limited funds in which to do it, then I would seriously go all-out to grab as many free players as possible.
Frankly, I'd grab Cacau, Altintop, Gallas, Yepes, and Julio Sergio, all for free. I debate whether I'd sell Huntelaar, but it matters on Dzeko's real valuation. I think we need to actually use some of our youth next year, so I think that honestly, those free players and Dzeko would be a good step forward. Flamini needs to play more, Abate needs more chances in our midfield, and we need to see how Verdi and Adiyiah develop, but that's not to forget Beretta and Zigoni who have done well this season. De Vito also seems to have trust of Leonardo, while Albertazzi is clearly ambitious and wants to play. I think how we spend our limited funds is less important, because we will be losing quite a few players. Favalli, Kaladze, Inzaghi, Janku, Dida, and maybe Oddo all seem to be on their way out. That's a lot of salary saved, but, it means that we actually need to bring in players. I think the more important fact is whether we actually grab some of the free players that are on the market. If I had to choose only one, I would choose Altintop, he would add a lot to our squad and to our flexibility. Who knows, maybe Berlu will actually throw down some serious money this year? I just hope that it is Leonardo who gets to spend it. |

I agree with K77SH C to an extent. I believe that we can do a lot better without Ronaldinho than with him and I agree that we should cash in on him if we can. I also agree with letting those contracts expire because we'll save plenty money by not having to pay those mega contracts.
**entering dream world** In terms of purchases, I believe we need two very good midfielders. One MOBILE creative AM who has an excellent through-ball and can provide much needed creativity in the final third of the pitch. We were linked with Cesc but that's just a dream. Secondly we need an Iniesta type of player. A player who can link midfield and attack, has a moderate-high workrate, makes runs off the ball, can complete a pass more than 5 yards in distance and can contribute goals from midfield. Going by Brasileiro's description only, Jucilei seems like a perfect player for this position but I haven't seen him play myself so I can't say definitively. Yes I know that means keeping Pirlo and while I'll acknowledge that he hasn't been amazing for the past few years, we have much bigger problems to take care of than replacing Pirlo. Finally in defense I think we need one at least one good FB and one good CB. One player who can fulfil both roles would be ideal because if Nesta is fit, we wouldn't want our purchase to rot on the bench. With these two purchases I don't think we'd need another striker this summer market because we can go back to playing 4-3-1-2 and just rotate Pato, Bori, Huntelaar and some fourth striker in those 2 striker spots. My starting lineup would be: Abbiati; FB, Nesta, Silva, Antonini; CM, Pirlo, Flamini; AM; Pato, Borriello/Hunt **exiting dream world** |

Mystik, I want to be let into your dream world. Especially if you add a 'self sufficient' striker to it. lol
The way I see it, with 3 world class additions, players like Pato, Pirlo, Flamini, Thiago would really be able to concentrate on what they do. Pato would have pressure taken off him and just enjoy running and shooting, Pirlo would have options and we all know what he can do with players causing chaos around him, Flamini could concentrate on crunching tackles rather than having to make the runs Ronnie and Huntelaar cant make, and Thiago would show us that we have a better defender than all the ones we drool over. About Gallas, he will be 33 before the season starts. At that age he wont add much to our squad. Zambrotta hasnt been the player he was, Oddo hasnt been the player he was. Plus we have just signed a 34 year old in Yepes, Berlusconis token 'feel young' signing is taken up. I havent liked Abate in midfield, with time I think he could turn out to be a new serghinio at fullback. This season was a real experience for him. It will be interesting to see how he recharges over the summer, thinks about his game and comes back for a second go. Altintop would be good, but I prefer not to set my hopes on players we arent linked to. Leonardo would be a great first signing, if we keep him.

^^ What I was saying is that instead of the self sufficient striker, we should get a world class AM because our strikers have the quality, we're just not utilizing them well enough IMO. With a more creative, mobile AM, we can move Huntelaar from the wings and put him back in the center where he can play his best football. If you get rid of Dinho, where will the assists come from?

Another big reason why were in this hole mess is also the spirit of milan. When you have one player pulling out wins and in kakas case basically winning us a cl , gota give seedorf some credit too wel anyways basically the problem we have is there always has to be a main man- som1 who leads the team, almost every team has that. notice some clubs in general these brazilian clubs, all young players full of talent but noone is there to take the game to the next level when talent cant beat thinking and experience. for example - putting a talented striker but young in age and inexperience against nesta would make that talented kid look well not so talented.. main point - when we had sheva he was always there to score winning goals if the rest of the team werent on their game.. right now we have alot of injuries/suspensions but kaka is gone. when we have a full squad we put up a good game to any team. just the fact of the matter is if we still had lets say kaka when all these players are injured.. he would have been carrying us on his shoulders - notice we got all these injuries when we were at peek form so close to the top of the table.. now were in 3rd. if kaka was still there i bet you all the schudetto would be ours.. anyways main point we need to buy players - i see pato being another kaka or sheva to us, if he gets more consistent and stops geting injuries.. also we need to get a hold of that neymar kid, watches a few videos i dont think ive seen a 16 year old play that good, well the video was when he was 16 not sure how old he is now.. neymar, torres, hernanes and 2 more defenders - one to replace zambrotta and another cb since nesta at his age is prone to be injured every once in a while.. after we buy those 4-5 players well be back on top
