Summer Mercato 2010

Berlusconi is clever. In a couple of quick statements he has sent the fans a few messages.

1. New coach should have experience with the youth team i.e. that is the new focus of AC Milan, despite none of our youth being good enough to start matches.

2. I will TRY for a champion i.e.TRY for ONE champion. So expect only one REAL signing this summer. And dont forget, Berlusconi promissed us an established worldclass striker last summer before we got Huntelaar, so dont expect a real 'Champion'.

3. He mentioned Ronaldo, to get pacify the fans. Hopefully we are not that stupid and hopefully he doesnt mean a player like the old Ronaldo i.e. an old player i.e. Thierry Henry lol

4. He has no intention of selling the club. AC Milan is over. Its one thing building a team around Maldini and Baresi. Its another thing building a team from scratch, in a a modern day era where there are 5 or so teams looking to build the best teams they have ever had i.e. Barca, Inter, Real, Chelsea etc.

If only that was true, never thought of Robinho...but he will be sold at a discount price. We can even trade Robinho for Dinho...IMO that would be perfect.

We can exchange Hunter with Dzeko plus add 20 mil. and get Simplicio for free.

Jucilei for 6 mil will be the deal of the season.

We would still lack replacement for Pato or Robinho. cuz I don`t see us getting superstar player as a substitute for the flanks(if we play 4-3-3 in the first place.) Thats why a direct exchange btw Dinho and Binho is very welcomed by me.

Facts:
Replacing Dida by Storari, Favalli by Yepes, Kaladze by Albertazzi, Jankulovski by De Vito, Gattuso by Strasser, and Oddo by an empty seat in the lockers is a huge improvement on this year’s squad in terms of Quality, Age, & Wages…and not only will it cost ZERO, it might actually generate whatever few millions Kaladze, Oddo, Gattuso, & Jankulovski are worth…I’ll be conservative and say 10Mio

Argumentative:
Sell Dinho, Borriello, & Huntelaar and don’t renew for Inzaghi and get Dzeko & Krasic & promote Verdi + 2 of Adiyiah/Zigoni/Oduamadi/Paloschi
Again, being conservative, I’m sure we can get an average of 15Mio for each sale…so that’s 45Mio and Dzeko+Krasic should not cost more than 55Mio, so we can use the 10Mio from the sale of the 1st bunch.

We will have a squad of:
Gks: Abbiati, Storari, Roma
Defenders: Nesta, Silva, Yepes, Bonera, Albertazzi, Onyewu, Antonini, Zambrotta, Abate, De Vito
Midfielders: Pirlo, Flamini, Ambrosini, Strasser, Seedorf, Krasic

I’m not saying this is my dream formation (especially having to keep both Pirlo & Seedorf as starters, one is enough) but I think that with a ZERO budget, that is the best I could hope for and I think it will be good enough to offer a season better than this one and more importantly build for better seasons in the future which is a promise we have heard since winning the 2007 CL.


P.S: i don't know anything about Jucilei and if he plays in the same position as Krasic or if has an Italian passport & we can get him along with Krasic...Brasiliero would probably know better

Jucilei is holding midfielder, but I think the MM scout in brazil Brasiliero would agree that he can be a great box-to-box player...smth what we need badly for years now, cuz or midfilders have been either to technical or to "holding" .

If we can not pay Jucilei (i can`t believe i`m saying this ,cuz he won`t cost more than 10 mil) than Simplicio is a must purchase. He might not be a first team material, but i`m sure that he will be a great upgrade to Gattuso, plus he is free.

Good dream and still possible to happen if Ronaldinho is exchanged with Robinho. Like you said the problem will be the sub for wing forwards. I would choose 4-3-1-2 with Dzeko is changed to an AM. This means we still have good subs for player behind two strikers (Pirlo, Seedorf) and for strikers (Boriello/Huntelaar, Verdi/Paloschi, Inzaghi). One biggest problem with 4-3-3 is the subs for the wing forwards (we need two players as sub for the positions).

By the way, can Krasic play in right-centre midfield (Gattuso's position or Jucilei's position in your formation?

Whats up with every one here on MM? Why every one wants Huntelaar out? 12-15 mil for him won't bring you a Franc Ribery or Messi, but keeping him and getting the best out of him is better option than spending big of Dzeko or loser/problematic player like Robinho. If he can score for Ajax, surely he can do the same for ACM.

I am sure Uncle Fester, despite some negatives is still not mad enough to let him go easily.

Yes for Bojan and No for Ibrahimovic. His big nose is not an ACM material. Kind of looks bad in Red & Black
But Bojan on the other hand is very welcome

Robinho would be amazing, but only if it is not only him as our summer reinforcment. We can´t spend much in just one player. If the budget is only 20 or 25 millions, I would be more happy if we go for Jucilei, Mario Fernandes and Arouca.

If there´s a special fund for a big name player, it´s ok. To spend big value in just one player is a big mistake for us... We need a LOT of help!!!

Yep, Jucilei is a DM here in Brazil, but he is his best as a box-to-box. In Europa he will be asked to attack and defend all the time, and thats will only elevate his game...

as much as i hate ibra, i think he would still be a huge improvement for our current team. but i wouldn't lose sleep if we didn't get him or didn't try to get him, and don't forget that barca hasn't exactly said that they will sell him either.

All depends if Ibra wants to play absolutely or if he will agree to be benched ... We can't know, look at Henry, the guy accepted to be benched this year and did several modest announcements (happy to be in Barcelona despite being on the bench, Pedro is better, ... the kind of comment we would hate if one of our players with huge wages did them) whereas he is actually one of the more pretentious French players.

Henry will leave and it looks like after the WC, he will do like Beckham: leaving for the USA.

So that leaves Barcelona with Villa now, Bojan, and Ibrahimovic for one single place, and they have Pedro alone for the left attacking position ... that means that Barcelona plans to use Villa on this left side OR they will buy another player.

This way, I don't see them already selling Ibrahimovic, and they stated that Bojan is going to stay in Barcelona next season.

Anyway, back to our mercato: I think the rumour about our interest for Robinho is just some built news by medias ... Think about it, Manchester City is supposed to be interested by Ronaldinho, they have Robinho who is supposed to want to leave this club, isn't it easy to say "Milan wants Robinho" just to make an exceptionnal "story of the summer" including two Brazilian stars at the same time ?!

On TMW (source: MilanNews), they report that our next coach is more and more likely to be Donadoni ...

I don't like these news ... and Donadoni tends to use the same kind of tactics as Leo did use. I don't 'see the point as Berlu criticized the way Leo made our team play.

Honostly doesn't Robinho exactly fit the bill for what Berlusconi said?

"I won’t pull back if there is the chance to buy a real champion who can give us that step up in quality."

There's obviously a chance at buying Robinho for a discount price, so Robinho fits this.

“By champion, by the way, I mean someone like Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Well Robinho fits that bill as well... But maybe this is the reason that there are these rumours anyways. Who knows, wouldn't be surprised if we're linked with Ibra in not to long, seeing as he'll most likely be leaving Barca it seems.
