Unfortunately, in some circles it's important when a player dribbles idiots around, but when he faces though(er) opposition he's dead and there are hundreds of reasons to justify him Robben did MUCH better against Inter than Messi, but he has one major drawback - he's name is not Messi.
I really admire Diego Milito, but to say that he is the best in the world rite now is not rite. That tag really goes for one man only, David Villa. He scores lots of goals with Valencia. Now just imagine how many will he score at Barca. I won't be surprise if he finishes with 50 next season.

Anyway, as for the golden ball, well despite the quiet show of Messi against Inter, phenomenal performances of Milito & Robben, it really belongs to Messi till now. But since this is a WC year, therefore most probably the winner of the Golden Ball for this year would be the one who would shine on the WC stage. If Argentina wins the WC, then it will be either Messi or Milito. Same goes for Robben-Holland and some other big names.

My Player Of The Season:
1 - Messi
2 - Milito
3 - Robben
4 - Lampard
5 - Zanetti

Well if the statistics is prove, than Gonzalo Higuain is one the best strikers in the world.

Villa could be labeled the world's best striker only if he prove himself in big games. Until that, he can't be told in the same sentence as Milito, Drogba or Torres. In my humble opinion, Villa is over-hyped. To put him in the same class with world's best strikers when he played for Valencia only is plainly wrong. Huntelaar was perhaps best penalty-box striker in the world when he was at Ajax, and look at him now. Ups, you're Hunter's fan

I am not talk about stats. I am am talking about the lack of quality players around Villa. Only the name of David Silva comes to mind as a quality player in Valencia and Silva is too hot and cold. So its a one man show at Valencia. David Villa scores all those goals without any great help from others (bar Silva to some extent). On the other had Higuainie has the support of Kaka, Cristiano, Alonso, VDV and Guti. Drogba has the best midfielder in his team along with Anellka, Malouda, Joe Cole, Deco & Ballack. Milito has the support of Eto'o, Pandev, Wesley & Maicon. Even Rooney has the players like Scholes, Giggs, Evra & Valencia etc.

If you mean Torres is the world's best, then you should check out his international record and then compare it with Villa's. Actually David Villa dominates Torres in the National Team. Its pretty clear, if Spain decides to play with one upfront, they will go with David Villa, not Torres. All these things indicate that David Villa is the best striker of the world rite now.

And as for him proving himself on the big stage, well how can you forget him kicking things off for Spain in 2008 Euro Championships? He also scored goals for Spain in WC 2006 and Confd. Cup 2009. Plus Barca could have also tried to sign Torres, but they didn't for a reason.

If only football was that easy and straight forward. Just buy players who scores a lot of goals for a slightly less gifted team and they will score twice as many for a good team... I will be both impressed and surprised if he scores anywhere near 50, even 30.

There are plenty of examples that it's not that easy. Look at Ibrahimovic, Borriello and so on...

Congratulation Inter!!! Frankly, I don't hate Inter, I see this club as a younger brother of Milan, but I can't stand Inter fans.

Millito achieved what he deserves. Argentina now has many great forward: Messi, Millito, Tevez, Higuain, Aguero and the favourite Palermo but the rest, except for Samuel and maybe Mascherano are questionable, IMO.

For Allegri, his Cagliari were interesting but Milan are another challenge. For now, I only think about who will be the players he bring to us, if any 4-3-1-2 looks good, but we lack many players to operate. Berlusconi likes him, but will he spend?

Another summer for dreaming It is lucky that there is a World Cup to enjoy ^^

You call these guys quality players? Baraja is some thing like 35 years old and hasn't been in the starting 11 for years now. Vicinte is injured for years, not just months. Mata is toooooooo young & just beginning to impress. Joaquin is one of the biggest wastage of money in the history of football, they payed something like 20-25 mil for him & he hasn't done anything special for them so far. & Banega who?
I mean these are decent players, not bad. But the supporter of other top striker of the world are in different leagues, e.g. Lampard, Ballack, Malouda, Gerrard, Cristano, Kaka, Wesley etc etc

Messi will almost definitely win the Golden Ball (deservedly so as well) unless he has an absolutely HORRIBLE world cup AND someone else has an amazing WC at the same time. You can't argue when someone who isn't even a striker equals the number of goals the great Ronaldo scored at Barcelona.

As for Inter, I'm sorry but I can never be happy to see Inter win ANYTHING...let alone a Champions League. If we need that 4th spot so badly in order to qualify for the Champions League then maybe our standards have dropped a little too low. Mourinho did a good job convincing his forwards to defend as an extra LB and RB..parking the bus/plane and then springing a counter attack by hoofing the ball up field.

As for the summer market, I don't know what to expect from our management at this point. I just hope that they work WITH the new coach to bring players that can play the type of game HE wants. Otherwise, we'll struggle to contend for the title for yet another year. We definitely need midfielders who are willing to run with and off the ball as well as quality defenders. However, there's usually a big difference between what we need and what we get so I'm just going to wait till I see the official presentations of whoever we sign..and ignore the gossip.

Of course they aren't comparable to the midfielders like xavi, iniesta, lamps etc. but they aren't ****ty players either. I haven't been keeping up with who's been playing and who's been injured. Mata and Banega are young but they are both highly talented, give them a few years and they will be stars.

"Baraja is some thing like 35 years old and hasn't been in the starting 11 for years now."?? 11 years? I just checked he made 18 appearances this season only 2\3 starts.

There's no player that deserves ballon d'or more than Messi. He was the most consistent in 2009/2010 and he shown in all the big matches except the semi-final against bus/plane parkers F.C., inter. And who can blame him? When you come up against a bunch of thugs who can't string together 5 consecutive passes over the course of 180 minutes, whose real intent is to bore everyone with ultra-negative football and stop the game from flowing, how can you play well?
So credit as to go to Messi.

Am I the only one here that thinks Mourinho is being (at least slightly) disrespectful to Inter, Moratti, and their fans for announcing that he would coach Real Madrid right after their victory and for staying in Madrid instead of returning to Milano together with the team?

I also think that Messi is better than Milito. It is not like Messi only fired up against small teams. The only reason that Messi couldn't score against Inter was due to that clown Ibrahimovic.

To think that Guardiola got Ibrahimovic and Chygrynskiy last summer. Barcelona actually got weaker after spending almost 100 million on these two players.
