Thanks for the info. I've seen bits of him but not enough to make a proper judgement.

That new UEFA rule about Club needing to balance before spending is such a mickey mouse rule. It looks good and sounds good but it is useless in reality. It stated that owners can't just pump money into the club like before...but most if not all owners actually own other companies, and what if those companies begin to sign huge sponsorship deals with those clubs. For example, those Arabs at ManCity will use their companies to striker huge, record breaking sponsorship deals with ManCity in order for them to be able to spend 100Mil a year. If Platini and UEFA going to stop them?

Those will violate current antitrust laws, that's how. It's of course, a matter of enforcement, but not from UEFA, but from the courts. It would set precedents that other companies could get away with, and that's not good.

I think the loop hole that they'll go after is that their youth academies and infrastructure are not included in these laws, but, again, that'll be tough for accounting to turn around.

If the big clubs have agreed to it and even had a hand in writing it, as seems the case, then it almost certainly has little teeth in terms of the Real or Chelsea type spending spree.

We haven't been that sort of a club for easily a decade and even now don't need to be that way.

How would that violate antitrust laws. As a football can charge any amount to companies who wish to be part of the team sponsor. Lets say Glazers actually want to spend money like the Arabs but ManU is running red. All Glazers need to do is use one of their own companies and make an offer to ManU, lets say 100mil for the next 4 years-for renaming OT to GLAZERS FIELD. Is that illegal by any means? I doubt it as it is whats going on with stadiums or centers in North American Sports. Or Man City accepting a sponsorship deal from one of the Arab's owners company to put the company name in all the seat in the stadium? Is UEFA or any local or federal courts for that matter challenge this business deal? If so, how?

Like I said, this is such a Mickey Mouse rule where you really just can't enforce, as there are just too many loopholes to go around.

If UEFA really want to make the Football League a more healthy league, they should do so by enforcing a hard salary cap on players. Like if a player does not have certain years of exp. in European Football, they cannot ask for more than a certain amount in their salary. The down side is that nobody will ever sign over the hills players anymore.

I doubt Joe Cole would want to come to Milan, given that he can choose to play for ManU or even Real

Joe Cole is in negotiations with Tottenham , but he has to lower his wage demands from like 120,000 a week to 90,000 a week.Don't think we will be giving him 90,000 a week and he wouldn't come to Milan anyway maybe 5 or 6 years ago not now , thats becoming a big problem too we are finding harder to get good players although it doesnt help when we do not offer for any.

This might be Joe Cole's last chance to milk out big contract, therefore much as I'd love to have him I don't think we can afford his wage. It's a different case to Flamini. He came for free and that's why we sort of compensate it with giving him big salary.

4 millions a year for four years is too much for a player of his calibre, especially if we compare it to Pato's salary which is around 1-2 millions a year. But Galliani did so because he came for free, afterall we can always sell him later and I believe his price will be higher than the salary we've been paying him.

On the other hand, if we give Joe Cole a lucrative contract he will worth almost nothing when it (almost) expires.

Berlusconi again stated about 50 mil pounds per year he has always spent. “If someone thinks my family didn’t give Milan sufficient financial support, I’ll say that in the last few years we always spent more than €50m per season. If anything, I’ve spent too much recently.”

So, Galliani, do smart tansfer and run the club well!
