Pirlo is longevity-type, he should remain.

I hope this Blasi rummor us just that. I really don't see what he would do in Milan.
Asamoah is versatile, but his strength is his box to box ability, which is how he's used for Udinese, and essentially the type of midfielder we need right now. What really impresses me about him is his maturity. He plays incredibly smartly and is a bit like Pirlo in the way he makes space for himself and doesn't let opponents press him. For me yesterday he showed, more than anything else, that he has a great footballing brain.

I'm sure Blasi won't come, his agent already denied any rumours and even our management must surely see he's not the player we need.

I think Gattuso doesn't really have much place in the current Milan squad, and agree with you it's not a big loss if he were to go to Dubai. I also think both Pirlo and Ambro should remain in Milan, but to be used much less given their age now.

I already mentioned above about wanting Jucilei or Asamoah, both of whom would take Ambro's spot in the team. However, both are also young, so having an experienced Ambro available will be beneficial.

It's the same with Pirlo. He's a great player and still incredibly important. However, we need an alternative for him as we can't rely on him all the time. Ganso of Santos is one who I'd see as a replacement for Pirlo (even if he plays a little higher up the pitch), given his technical ability, passing range and vision. However, as with Ambro, having an experienced Pirlo in the squad would benefit the youngster who eventually takes over his role.

The problem is funding for these players. To get one of Jucilei or Asamoah is a priority for me and with our given budget it should be possible. However, I think we still need a defender (fullback ideally) and Ganso. The defender may be quite difficult, but again we should realistically be able to scrape enough to get the money for a half decent one (i.e. someone like Cristico or Bocchetti).

The big problem is getting Ganso, who's not cheap. 25m is the asking price and I can't imagine him leaving for less than 15m. That means we need a high profile sale like Dinho to get him. The problem though is that Ganso isn't really suited to replace Dinho in his current role. Therefore, if Ganso was gotten by selling Dinho, we'd need another player to replace Dinho.

I agree with you, we need to keep some of our experienced players ... the best ones if possible of course !!
Aren't the best teams in the history always set up with a mix between young and promising players and more experienced ones ?

I don't mind having Pirlo playing 50 games a year if around him, he has 2 players who are always able to run for 90 minutes (allowing Pirlo to manage his efforts during the games) ... I don't mind seeing Seedorf playing 25-30 minutes in each game if it is needed ... I don't mind seeing Nesta as our main CD if he has a proper replacement on the bench (and good rotation from the coach) ... etc.

If we can get rid of Kaladze (Dynamo Kiev tries to get him, Sheva is his best friend, so ... who knows ? Even if we sell him for 500K, it will be a winning situation for us), Oddo (Lazio seems a possible destination, we should allow him to join his former club even for free), Jankulovski (more difficult because the guy seems to only want Milan or a club in his country), and if we sell Gattuso (if it is in Dubai, and given the relationship we established with this place, we can maybe sell him at a good price, 10M would be good IMO) and another player (I'd tend to still say Ronaldinho), we would have some money to spend ... and let's not forget that Berlusconi will do us a "gift" this summer (what, you think I'm in a dreaming world ?!).

IMO, Galliani's transfer policy is getting a unexpected good player from a tournement, this player must be in a small league to lower the price.

Gooch & Adyiyah proved that, and if Enyeama comes, I won't be supprised, though I like Özil much more

Yesterday's game, for me, showed what I've been wanting to say about Krasic. I think he's supremely overrated. In fact, that was the most I've seen him run in a game, and I actually have decided to watch him since January.

Watching him in the CL, not just against Inter, but against Sevilla, I saw a player who would infuriate everyone here, including myself. He does not have a particularly good work rate and he really phases in and out of games. Honestly, against Sevilla, I could not fathom how anyone who wants a faster, harder working team would want him in the side.

However, Krasic is not the biggest thing, as I don't think he will come to Milan anyways. For me, Montolivo's performance today was something that Milan should look at. I missed the first half, and only watched the second, and from what I saw, I think Montolivo really has matured immensely. Part of the problem for Italy was placing Marchisio as the center midfielder in the 3 part of the 4-2-3-1, that position should be Montolivo's, not Marchisio.

The 4-2-3-1 that is being used by Lippi is a problem mostly because of the players he is relying upon, and it reminds me of Italy in Euro 2004.

Marchisio should be playing next to De Rossi with Montolivo playing further up. Even if Pirlo was fit, I would want this change. I just don't understand how people are slating Montolivo's performance. Today's Italy game illustrated the poor attack that Lippi brought to the WC. Pepe might have been hard working, but he clearly is missing a bit of class, and don't get me started on Iaquinta.

This was a game where Borriello would have been the best choice for Italy, honestly. The point of all this, anyways, is to underline how Montolivo might be the best choice for us in our search for a new midfielder. If Jucilei or Ganso is between 15-25 million, I would rather put a little less money in Montolivo and use the rest on a full back. At 25 he is at the right age in his career to make that next step, I really think he can be a great player at Milan.

I agree with some of the stuff you said Samaldinho. I also don't think that Montolivo played bad. As a matter of fact I think that Marchisio was the one that wasn't having a good game. Partly because he can't be a playmaker. He has good skills and a decent vision but he can't be a playmaker. He is much better as a box-to-box type of modfielder so I agree that swapping him and Montolivo in this formation would work much better.

However I disagree about the Pirlo part. When Pirlo is ready he should be immediately put in this squad because if anything, today's game proved how important Pirlo is to this Italy.

Also.....Van Der Wiel impressed me today. I was a little unsure of his defensive ability, but I feel a little better about that after today. I think he did very well. And by the way...if there is a player out there that he resembles (don't want to make comparisons and am not saying that he is there yet but..) in my opinion it is Maicon. Van Der Wiel reminds me of him so much when going forward.

Elia also impressed for the Dutch in the short time he was on the field. The game changed when he came in, even though it was mostly tactical and not plain individual effort from Elia. He simply followed instructions and kept the team's shape by staying wide and staying out of Sneijder's way. (something Van Der Vaart didn't do) But in any case, Elia seems to be a very interesting player. Let's see how he'll do in the other opportunities he gets.

Totally agree with this... And I don't have a problem with it! The Nigerian Keeper would be great....

But this kind of transfer policy should mean we needn't sell players like Silva or Pato in the future. If that happens in combination with this discrete transfer policy, that would really piss me off.

Also agree with the wage cuts.... Acts as a safeguard so that we aren't paying any has-beens C.Ronaldo wages like we have done in the past.

Agree with you there, I watched the dutch with a keen eye on him and he didn't disappoint. He is a little rash as he made one really stupid challenge with studs showing at one point and I know a couple of times for Ajax he's had moments one stupidity.

Well, Van Der Wiel is one of the next big thing coming out from Holland. To me, in that game alone he showed more promise than Hentiga did when he first started for the Oranje.

Anyhow, I doubt Milan will get him though, maybe if he is 30 or free.

watch cska moscow in the champions league in 2010' where krasic would make man united defenders look ridiculous in the group stage, dont judge him on how good he is in a game where serbia lost because of a handball and went a man down because of kuzmanovic, don't judge him based that the system cska run's is completly diffrent to serbia's oh and also dont forget that stankovic is also made to defend more like he said because serbia has a alott of striking options, and remember you guys need to realize that sometimes you dont have to have 1,000 shots on target, crosses, dribble past 4 men like pele and then go from 1 to 3 speed wise like messi, sometimes you just want defenders to focuse on you to create to diffrent spaces and open up more for people around you, face it
