Actually, a good scout shouldn't even watch or have to watch a WC to see the interesting players ... because this kind of competition is the ideal way to make big mistakes on the mercato.

Look at Gyan from Ghana ... he looks like an amazing striker, but if you look at his performances in Rennes (French Ligue 1), the guy isn't a real striker as he doesn't score a lot of goals at all.
Same goes for Andre Ayew for example, he looks amazing on his flank in this NT of Ghana, but the guy just played this season in Arles-Avignon (French Ligue 2) because he couldn't make it in the first team in Marseille ...

There are some examples like that in each team. Buying them because they did/have done a good WC is just taking a very big risk.

I just read on Tuttomercatoweb that there was an offer for Ronaldinho coming from the USA. They would give him a 3 year contract, valued at 32M ... which means he would get a huge contract. The part that I disliked was the end when they said that our club just asks for 10M. He just did a good season, so I think we could ask for more, especially to the MLS as when they really want a player, they are able to pay big amounts of money.

I totally agree with this. Remember Charisteas and, that greek dude bologna signed he was named player of the tournament when greece won the european championship. Also remember Milan Baros, who was sooo great a worldcup ago. these kind of tournaments are the perfect place for average players to shine after the really big stars had an exhausting championship.

but on a sidenote, I do want Keisuke Honda who is really great so far, but he also proved this at Vvv (small dutch club) and moscow.
You could already see his massive talent when he was in holland, many people thought his price tag (10m) was too high becouse he was only playing for such a small club; But with some players you can just see that they got 'it' ! It was quite obvious for me with honda! I wouldnt mind him here Any thoughts on this?

EDIT: that greek dude who was named player of the tournament was Zagorakis!

I really like Jonathan Mensah from Ghana, looks like he is owened by Udinese and on loan to Granada CF second division in Spain. He is only 19 years old. I like him a lot as a central defender.

I really dislike Mensah but I do like Honda a whole lot and I would think that he is worth the Non-EU spot. I prefer Robinho/Balotelli/Ganso though but if Honda's cheaper (Moscow bought him for 15m?) then sure why not.

We should keep an eye on the Portugal fullback and the Uruguayan full back, both are excellent.

If Honda was bought 15 M by Moscow, then his price must be higher than it. For 15 M it is already too much for him especially for us. Better we look for other cheaper and better player.

I personally think scouts should never use tournaments alone to look at players as many play great in them but then aren't actually all that good (Klose is a pretty good example imo).

In reality, a player should be viewed on a number of occasions in different competitions to see how he plays in different scenarios and against different opposition. It has to be a fairly slow and monitored process to make sure the player is suitable.

On milannews a French market expert gave an interview. He suggested Milan look at Mbia and Mongongu for defence and Remy for attack.

Well you maybe didnt understand me (my fault) , I dont mean that scout need to take players from tournaments ( i just saw WC ) I am saying that other big clubs scouting youngsters all the round the world, but i dont see tha Milan do this, its sad
