Nesta needs to be replaced soon as he is well in his 30's and injury prone.. Pirlo is slowing down and will be finished in 2 years...
Ronaldinho is 30 and who knows how much longer he'll be around.. we're not even sure if he'll be here next season...

Ambrosini and Gattuso are done in a year or two the most....

I am jealous of Juventus getting Bonucci. I heard that they are also getting Marco Motta from Roma. Not that Bonucci or Motta are super fantastic, but they are very decent and Italian (which means higher loyalty in general). Some member has an earlier post talking about Milan's success was based on provincial players like Donadoni/Lentini/Eranio/Massaro, and I couldn't agree more.

Italy doesn't have a great number of decent young players these days, so if we were still ambitious, we should grab them before others. It is amazing and frustrating how ignorant and complacement B&G can get.

On the "foundation" topic, I think only Pato and Silva are reliable (I have always felt iffy about Flamini - hopefully he will prove me wrong). We should start scouting around and fill the other 3/9 positions with decent players like Luca Antonini or Giacomo Berreta. I miss the old time when we had the Dutch Trio paired up with 8 Italians in our starting 11. That was the only sustainable way.

Where are all those Huntelaar and L.Fabiano lovers now? Huntelaar even with the 5 minutes he had, he missed one golden opportunity, and one 100000% sure goal in a 3 against 1 situation, how pathetic is this player...

anyway I feel sorry for Kaka but I am glad some arrogant primadonnas are out like Lucio, Maicon, Alves and Dunga. Serves him right for picking only a very good starting 11 with no reliable substitutes who can change the game.

Melo was an idiot.
Nobody else from both teams impressed me either positively or negatively.
von Bommel didn't get even one yellow which surprised me. I like the referees' work today, but I think he should have been cautioned with at least one yellow, considering his three consecutive nasty fouls in a short time span. MVB is such a dirty player.
Huntelaar didn't surprise me - he is mediocre.
I don't see what's good in Bastos either - were you being sarcastic?

You forget Abbiati & Borriello. Astori & Paloschi can be partly counted. Pirlo's style can last long and he is the right captain for Milan. We need players like Ambrosini & Nesta for next season to at least ensure CL place, then invest more.

I didn't say we have a strong foundation, it is just better than Juve because we have more in form ones. We still need to make more transfer, and each transfer can start or give us deep can be count as plus. We must build it step by step.

Well, not a bright future, but I'm fed of being pessimist or overly optimist, just trying to support the club as a whole...

this is the stupidest decision the Italian FA has made. Only 2 years ago they have decided that Italy is losing it's star players to other leagues and our teams are falling behind in Europe, so they increased from 1 to 2....but now because Italy has failed in the WC (all because of the Italian FA again to hire Lippi again), they blame it on the teams not having enough Italian players. Instead of looking at how teams like Catania, Napoli and Genoa have been doing with their Non-EU spots, making Serie A more competitive, they only look to Inter who has zero Italians in their starting lineup and decide that the entire Serie A is like Inter.

Sad, sad sad decisions by this Italian federation. It is only getting worse and worse for Italian football. I think this ruling is still unofficial but it is expected to be in the next week.

You're right. IMO, if the FA want a bright future, they should use some rule like the 6/5, there must be some Italian in the starting line up.

IT got a lot of promising youth today, just so happened Lippi did not bother calling and usiNg them. Motta, Santon, Antonini, And Abate were all good enough to make the squad but Lippi chose Zambro(who can't even beat Abate and Antonini in Milan for play time) and Grosso.

Canna showed the world that he is only half the player he was but he still starts over Bonuncci and Gamberini.

Gattuso should not even make the squad but he did.

Cassano, Borreillo and Mario should have made the team.

I don't think IT is as bad as England in terms of lacking next Gen players but they must be given chance to play.
