We're again linked with Cristian Ledesma from Lazio. Haven't seen him play much, how good is he? I mean, Maradona have tried like 150 players for Argentina the last few years, but not this guy. He hasn't played one single match for the national team. Is he worth signing? We can't sign him just because he's got Italian citizenship...

I think we should take each case/transfer separately otherwise, no offense buddy, it almost seems to me that all these squad full of champions BS from B&G have gotten into your head. Okay, those two were amongst our greatest signings in the noughties. But that took place EIGHT YEARS AGO. And as sliffersd pointed out, Moratti learned A LOT from it. Much as I hate them, it's a fact that they're the team to beat in Italy (and have been for some years) AND Europe. When was the last time we can say the same thing about our club?

Good if it happens. If nothing else, the fact that he's younger than anyone in our midfield rotation makes this a good transfer. It is, however, a big IF for this to happen.

I never said that 2011 will FOR SURE be the year that Milan will rebuild. I said that that is the year that many of our older player contracts will expire, and whether it actually will be or not, we will know in 2011, because that is when the contracts actually expire. So, please, if you're going to put me in the category of someone who is an "optimist" or whatever, at least get my arguments right.

As for potential transfers, I don't see how we constantly miss the details that come up. Pato said he will stay here until 2014, and I think if we can actually build him up (his salary is 1 mil, for instance) and get him to extend, I can see him staying here for a while. As for Thiago Silva, he said he wants to stay here until he's 40. So, seriously, calm down.

With Leonardo leaving, I thought that Milan had sunken to a new low. However, seeing him as the favorite to take over the Brazil job, it makes a lot more sense now. I'm not sure if it was as one-sided a deal as it looks, just like how I doubt whether Kaka was sold against his will. If Milan had appointed Tassotti, or someone like that, then I would have agreed, Milan is destroying itself. However, Allegri has won coach of the year, twice. So, he can't be that bad, can he?

As for transfer rumors, who knows whether we paid 7 million or not? And to talk about how we took Vieri and Mancini, so we're stupid, I laugh at this. We took them for free, tried them out, didn't work out, ciao. No harm in trying.

As for Galliani being stupid, for the Emersons, etc there was also hmm, the Kaka, the Pato, Thiago Silva, Pancaro, Stam, Cafu, Flamini, Beckham, and it seems that our youth sector is becoming incredibly strong.

As for Inter's stupidity. Yes, they might not have sold US anyone like Pirlo or Seedorf since, but, I think for a team that has just won the treble, to go out and replace Mourinho with Benitez, that is a stupid team. Benitez will destroy Inter, and I cannot wait for him to get to work. The sort of money he's wasted at Liverpool, for average players, amazes me. Honestly, how terrible a manager he is, literally, shocks me. He did great work at Valencia, and perhaps Spain is where he should be, but, my Lord, he has an uncanny ability to destroy teams.

I am worried that we won't sign anyone. In fact, I'm more worried about Ronaldinho going than anything. What is really funny about this forum is that we look to interpret all sorts of information but rarely listen to quotes that haven't been twisted with headlines. Pato said that he wants Ronaldinho to stay, he underlined that when asked about his future with Milan. Yet, so many here want him gone? Clearly, Dinho is Pato's mentor, and I don't see how it would be in our interest to let Dinho go, especially after his last season.

Replacing Dinho will be difficult, especially on our budget, and considering the sort of marketability he has, I really hope we don't lose him. He was in the Nike ad for the World Cup, yet had slim chances of making it. That tells you everything. Not Robinho, Ronaldinho.

We have to wait and see, but what I can't stand is how we construct soap operas out of nothing. If Oddo can't be sold (for whatever reason) and we currently pay 4 million for his salary, then signing him for an extension for less money is the smart idea. Paying 3 million to let him go is not smart, because you lose a player. Remember that spot in the season where everyone wanted him to play? Who knows, maybe he'll provide some valuable cover next season? Regardless, this choice was the smarter one for Milan, on a business and sporting level. Not ideal, but required.

As for Kaladze and Janku. Janku may provide midfield cover, but, Kaladze clearly is not trusted at Milan. They are difficult to deal with, but they also are part of the 2011 camp. The problem with them is not them as players, but their salaries. If extensions are given with severe pay cuts (like Oddo) which saves Milan money, then I support it. Obviously it is not ideal, but the point is to save money. Oddo is probably seen as more useful than those two, so the dynamics are probably different.

As for our youth players, I think we will see Allegri do something. Looking at the players he's taken under his win at Cagliari, I have hope for what he can do here. I mean, Cossu, Marchetti, and Biondini were not Italy candidates before he came, so who knows?

And the last bit of my long novels (sorry I don't get on as much during the summer.. okay, okay, I write too much..) is the issue of Flavio Roma. Has the guy played for Milan at all? I don't think so, and he's supposed to be a third string keeper. So, seriously, can we stop hating on the poor guy? Even Abbiati mentioned that Roma should be a player that people factor in when looking at the GK duels, he has played for Italy before. In fact, we have three keepers who have.

Hope everyone's having a good summer. I've been popping by to read the threads, but laying low from getting involved in the conversation. But I'm glad to see not so many seem poised to jump off a bridge this year.

Just wanted to relay some info I found on Fossati. This is a google translation of an Italian blog. There are also some videos of him there.

Stars of the Future - Marco Ezio Fossati: the 15 year old who betrayed Milan

May 20, 2009 by Francesco Federico Pagani

________________________________________________________________

June 2007: Massimo Cellino, President of Cagliari, and Massimo Moratti, president of Inter, find an agreement for the transfer of Suazo from Sardinian society to that of Milan. The player then goes to Appiano Gentile for medical Rite before formalizing the transfer to Inter. In that week, though, something happens and June 19 Milan officially announced the conclusion of negotiations in their favor: Suazo will then move to the Rossoneri.

After several days of confusion, however, Suazo expressed his desire to go play for the club via Durini that, by paying 14 million euros to Cagliari, then free, according to a special purpose clause in the contract that he signed with David Sardinian society, the player can move to Inter.

What do Centra l 'affaire Suazo, who monopolized for more than two weeks the attention of fans, with Marco Ezio Fossati, young talent to the students under the National Inter?

Center all right: in the same summer, in fact, the boy, still fifteen, the young leaves National (They were coached by Steve, who tries in every way to restrain the power of knowing this guy) Rossoneri to move to bitter rivals AC Milan. Were the case, decided to leave the company to join the Via Turati youth cousins Inter.

A choice that does little stir at the time: Mark is a kid who only know the passionate conscious.

Choice, the magazine today Fossati treading in very good light at the last European under 17, an impact very different and marks a very marked difference between the two companies: one is the Red and Black, veteran of two decades of huge wins, which seems have now overshadowed the importance of its nursery and focus on young people (with the exception of sweet Pato) to rely on experienced players, able to stand now at the best stage in Europe, especially dear to executives via Turati . On the other hand, the Nerazzurri, who is doing a great job on his own youth: Santon Balotelli and are now holding almost fixed, despite his young age, and both have a past in Inter's youth. Krhin, Naples, Right, Obi, Caldirola, Lamb, Beretta and many others are interesting prospects that could be aggregated to the first team in the coming years.

Well, not officially know the reasons which prompted Fossati to "betray" the most bitter rivals AC Milan through to the company's Red and Black, but it does not seem to be encouraging news, especially for fans of the Devil, that Milan points so little on their own nurseries, not protecting his best pieces.

Marco Ezio Fossati, in fact, is one of the best prospects of all Italian soccer, I would say European. About Europe were closed Monday for the championship under 17 category where he was one of the best players of the competition, which is not negligible. In a sort of virtual top 11 of this tournament include the whole life, that's for sure. All this confirms the fact that today few games to his level, not only in Italy.

Fossati is a midfielder with good time directing, but the "easy" compared with Pirlo would be wrong. The two, in fact, have very different tactical and technical characteristics, which are such a comparison possible.

Pirlo, in fact, a very different way of being in the field: since it was moved down to the role of director, he was born playmaker, has a style of play that led him to be very static, occupying only a certain area of the field . All also provide a reference point to their comrades, who always know where to find him to hand over the ball and start the action.

Fossati, however, play different: much more dynamic director Rossonero covers a much larger portion of the field, going over and over again during a game, to move into in attack in areas of the field that Pirlo is to occupy much rarely. All this to go shooting at the cross, to search for the last step or just give an alternative to carrying the ball more.

At the tactical level, therefore, does not seem to be "one dimensional" as his fellow AC Milan: Pirlo if several years now occupies almost always only a certain position on the field, in fact, had seemed to be more flexible, being able to find placement in different forms and, above all, different positions, could then adapt to most game situations.

A feature that can unite them is the one that sees them both good shooters kick, although this is certainly higher than the fundamental Andrea Inter young athlete.

Technique, style and dynamism make Fossati a player capable of launching offensive in the area with much more vehemence than does Mr Milan, who to boarding at breakneck prefers to dictate the timing with the geometry of which is capable of.

Fossati then, now, could easily be used both as internal and as mezz'ala midfield or even just in a position more suited to a pure film, as he is today.

His talent, however, absolute.

Being a boy not yet 17 years old would be rash to make a prediction about the goals that can be achieved, but the route taken seems to be that good surely.

After moving to Inter, in fact, was once the aggregate National Cadet, one year earlier than the normal schedule. Everything to seal the precocity of his talent. After last year, and was confirmed in training, which became the captain. But there is already talk of his promotion in the spring, that seems obvious. Perhaps he could then follow in the footsteps of Santon, ending with the first-team debut soon.

Certainly is an interesting talent, and the whole bit much there. Mourinho has also been shown to have no worries in deploying young boys, unlike what we usually do our coaches. For Mark, then, a future in Serie A could be far away.

Meanwhile, more immediately, there is also the national fixed point of the Under 17 finished third (a tie with Switzerland since the end part was not played) to the last European Championship, will play in the Championship so short World under 17, yet another showcase in which to showcase their talent.

And Mark, you need to scommertici, if you do not say it twice.

How do you deduce Benitez 'has an uncanny ability to destroy teams'? He was a success at Valencia and he had some success at Liverpool. Yes, his last season at Liverpool was awful to say the least and there have been some patchy moments in between but don't forget he continually led Liverpool into the latter stages of the CL for quite a few seasons in a row.

I think you're getting carried away with things. How do you know he'll be bad at Inter? He's astute, clever, intelligent and his tactical knowledge of the game is better than most managers in the game. At Inter he'll have the backing of a president who can give him £40 million to get a single player. He won't have to deal with boardroom politics and two yanks sniping at him every week or approaching other managers to do his job. He'll be in a stable club with a good set of players.

Mourinho set Inter up to be hard to beat, they didn't play expansive football. Benitez did the same with Liverpool, they were hard to break down, so in some respects there won't be much initial difference to how the teams play.

I think your comment that he will destroy Inter is a bit far fetched and lacks any kind of supporting argument, though it is your opinion which you are obviously entitled to.

Is RB a better coach than JM, the answer is no. But if Inter can stay as a team with strong additional signings like Torres or Mascherano... The team will only get better. They might not win the treble again but I doubt any teams in Serie A can even challenge them for the title.

Hello all, I'm new to these boards, but I've been a Milan fan for many years. Glad to find this place! Now that the World Cup is over, my attention turns to the summer market. It's been difficult to keep up with the news and rumors, but perhaps someone can put together their best guess as to what our starting squad will look like. Also, what formation is Allegri known for?

Welcome...without being funny I believe our starting lineup will be as follows.

.............Abbiatti/Amelia....................

Abate/Zambro...Nesta...Silva...Antonini

Flamini/Ambro.....Pirlo......Seedorf

..Pato........................Ronaldinho

..............Borriello.............

Bench
Oddo
Kaladze
Janlu
Yepes
Onyewu
Bonera
Gattusso
De Gennaro
Inzaghi
Huntelaar
Zigoni
Roma

Maybe ...Verdi , Strasser , De Vito , Mancini, Adiyiah

Can't see anything else at this stage to be honest.Unless something happens like a change of philosophy by MGT.I wont rag on the guys from Inter but as someone said , Seedorf had 2 Champions leagues and played in a WC Semi Final , Pirlo showed great promise and had played for Inter aswell. These guys at 21 and 22 have never played that is a big ? in my book .

Well RB DOES waste a lot of money so hopefully Inter will be skint some time soon.
I predict him to do well, probably win the league this year. And then he will build 'his own team' which will bring Inter down to where they were 10 years ago! lol. The guy is a decent coach but he is someone who would benefit from a director of football or a chairman (like ours) who buys the players and leaves him to coach.

How are you Jimbob, long time?

A lot of rumours about a come back of Mattioni, which launched the rumours about Abate leaving (Genoa).

Ancelotti didn't give a chance to Mattioni whereas he was labelled like a good young RB when he came, I don't know his real level, if Brasiliero saw him ...

I don't think Brasileiro was ever too convinced by him and hadn't really heard of him before he came if I remember.

I'd like us to keep Abate, the guy did quite well last season and should be kept at least to add depth to the squad.

Thanks to Rick for the news on the new youth player. Also read today that Strasser will be our primary backup to Ambro, ahead of Gattuso.

Am I right in That we could get 10 million for Dinho (not that I want him to leave but he may) 7 million for Rino and 15 million for Hunter and with wages thats about 47 million....

Caceres free on loan.
Hernanes 11 million
Ibra 7.5 million a year over 4 years.
V.d.Wiel 12 million
Ranochia 8 million......and still have 8.5 million left , I know mgt are not looking at these players save Ibra , and even if they offered the guys may not want to join....But a mercato like that is okay imo and at the same time complete fantasy....IDK what to think.

Van Der Wiel has impressed me so much at this World Cup. He didn't attack much during the tournament, but I've seen him attack at Ajax and he can do some great things in the attacking end. I was just never convinced of his defending ability from the few times that I had seen him with Ajax. But for me, in this WC he showed that he can defend and hold his ground in the back.
