CB for Milan:

T. Silva, Nesta, Yepes, Bonera, Gouch, Kala and Papa.

Honestly, even if Bonera is set as a RB reserve(which is a stretch as there are Abate, Zambro and Oddo there already). There are still 5 including Kala and 6 including Papa. Is Milan Lab predicting Nesta, T. Silva and Gouch to be out for a whole season, b/c it just does not make sense to have so many CBs.

He is fast, athletic, strong and confident on the ball. In this defence he will make himself a starter in quick time.

Last night there was a replay of the 6-0 derby on Milan Channel...man kaladze used to be a great LB...seriously. i think the whole Brother kidnapping saga and making him CB affect really badly on him.

I think carlo did a bin mistake in making him a Cb and taking janku instead...

I don't disagree (I even agree that Huntelaar could still be useful), I was just referring to the "find a better replacement" part ... regarding the season he had in Milan, a lot of players could do better. Then of course, it can only be said when you look at statistics and when you don't take the context into consideration (played in the wrong position, etc).

GOOD CB for Milan (in my opinion):

T.Silva, Nesta, Yepes and Papa. That is not too much, especially when two of them are above 30 and both Nesta and Thiago have regular injuries throughout the season.

Gouch didnt actually get picked by Leo before he got injured, Bonera frustates me and Kala - we cant give him away.

He was a pretty good left back and the fact that Sheva used to head in all his crosses helped.

You are right, he hasn't been the same since the incident with his brother. He has gotten worse every year, and Carlo dropped him because he was a calamity. Janku was by far the better player when Carlo started using him.

I'm not quite sure why poeple think Papa cannot become a starter for defence. He is versatile, and with only cameo appearances from nesta (with his injury), and our full-backs still in their current state, Papa can easily find a place... Only 22, so if he has a solid season with us, 7 million may be worth investing.

But agree whole heartedly that midfield is the main problem..... Not going to happen though. All we can hope for is that RIno leaves and Lazarri comes in...

sokratis is a pretty good player ! moves the ball around very well. under the influence of nesta and alongside silva he could be good..

holy crap...bad news....Sky reports that the deal for Papa is done, but here is what Milan pay: 4.5m euro, and the co-ownership of Albertazzi, Oduamadi, and Strasser...three of our best youth players. This means in about a couple of years when they both impress, we will be paying about 5m EACH for those 3 players to buy them back.

If this is true....damn, I hate Galliani.

From what I've heard he is very talented.

looks like the deal is almost official,sokratis spoke to a journalist saying that its a dream come true,he is travelling these hours to sign a 5 years contract and not 4 like it is written..

as i wrote be4,i've seen him playing live a couple of times for AEK and he totaly outclassed the oppsite fws,although he was 19-20 years old!
papastathopoulos is a really mature,for his age,player..he is strong, focused all 90 mins,decent headers but his gr8 advantage is his man to man marking,execellent.he was not starter for the national teaam on the wc,but when he did start,against argentina,he was clearly MOM imo,as he made messi look akwardly out of game..i am sure that alongside nesta he can do gr8 things..for me gasperini was wrong using him as rb or lb at times as he is clearly not that type of player..

i dont like the idea of giving 3 youngsters +4,5 mil,it would be better if we gave oddo+1 youngster..anyway time will tell..

They (Genoa) are not stupid to take Oddo or Kala, Janku maybe because this guy is good at attacking and can play along the left, plus DM.

They bought Papa for 4M, then sell for 4.5M. Not a bad one. 3 youngsters maybe a bit much but they can't play now, why not let them take the chance at another club.

A fair one, IMO.

Aficio: Thing is we haven't loaned the youngsters out, we sold 50% of their contracts, meaning that we will buy the other 50% for much more (if they play well, which is what we are hoping for). Lose-lose situation, only unless Milan plan on selling them after the following season with Genoa.

If Papa is signed, it means 7 CBs, unless the MGT expects Nesta to miss half the season, there is no way any sound teams with an actual plan would sign 7 CBs under contract with which none of them are promoted from youth. That shows the MGT lacks directions, planning, scouting and most of all a brain.
