Its funny how you brought up Marzoratti, along with Sammarco, Dalla Bona, Donati, Pozzi, Antonini and Borreillo were all Milan players at a very young age. Then only Antonini and Borreillo became Milan players-after long period of loans. Where Marzoratti, Sammarco and Pozzi never even made it with Milan. I still remember that Milan choose to kept Brocchi(playing mostly in Cup games) instead of keeping Sammarco(sold for 1.5mil). To me, Sammarco should had been kept and I am pretty sure he could be quite useful for Milan now. So was Marzoratti, where if he stayed in Milan, we would not have witness the loan signing of Senderous, signing of Gouch and Yepes.

i remember alot of people had high hopes of Marzoratti. wasn't he our primavera captain for like, ever? & an under 21 italia mainstay i might add.
its funny how players with big bright careers just go down the toilet.

LOL

Our young players like Mazoratti were not players like Pato, Ronaldo, Messi and likes. They were even not like young Pirlo. A player promoted to first team of Milan (read: only his name was promoted!) doesn't mean that he is very talented or has bright future.

For young players talent normally plays important roles for their success but talent only is not enough. That's why many players who were MUCH talented than ours are only average players right now.

The problem with Milan youth before, did they have good young players? As far as I know, NO!

Agree, the guys weren't good enough for the first team for sure, they didn't make it in their first loans, so they were sold for most of them. After several years, they only start to be decent or good. Some claim that guys like Verdi and co are not good enough because they can't make it to the first team at 16-17, the guys mentionned (Marzorati, Antonelli, Foggia, Donati, Pozzi, ...) needed a lot of time to be able to play in Serie A/B ...

If this what the management calls youth building I totally disagree. There is no way I believe players on co-ownership is a good youth strategy.

I am not saying that any of those former Milan players were the next great wave of players. Maybe Foggia. The point is Milan never knew how to develop them after they graduated from the youth academy/reserve squad. For example, why kept Brocchi, if you have someone like Sammarco or Dalla Bona who is willing to sit on the bench and are young enough to work their way up. Keep in mind that Brocchi was not a starter nor is he a rotation player. TO me, he is like the last midfielder behind, Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf, Ambro, Serginho and Vogel/Dhorasso. Why kept him, if you knew he would only played a very limited role instead of letting those minutes to someone younger.

I think, the problem was that Milan's target was always highest target especially the extremely important one, Champions League. To achieve the target especially CL trophy the coach needs ready players or experienced ones. That's why we never saw young players played for Milan first team except in the games that were not important anymore, like Serie A games where Milan already got the target or missed the target or CL matches in which Milan already qualified.

The other problem like I said, the young players were just not good enough.

I paste what I posted in the transfers topic:

Quote:
About the Primavera, the official list of players is:

DI FABIO Davide
PALEARI Alberto Andrea
PISCITELLI Riccardo

ALBERTAZZI Michelangelo
BALDAN Marco
DE SCIGLIO Mattia
DESOLE Mattia
DE VITO Andrea
GHIRINGHELLI Luca
PASINI Nicola
SAMPIRISI Mario
SANTONOCITO Luca

BERTONI Luca
CALVANO Simone
FOSSATI Marco Ezio
HOTTOR Edmund Etsè
LORA Filippo
MERKEL Alexander
NOVINIC Mitja
PIROVANO Valerio

BERETTA Giacomo
COGLIATI Pietro Maria
GAETA Marco
GANZ Simone Andrea
MANCUSO Leonardo
PALIBRK Uros

In bold: Albertazzi, again in Primavera despite what Galliani said last year. I think it could be time to send him on loan in a Serie B team to allow him to gain some experience. Merkel, despite all reports and rumours about the fact he would be included in first team, he is still registered in Primavera.

Of course, they can play in first team, but the fact they are registered there probably means they will play a minor role in first team.

It has to be noticed that Strasser, Odu and Verdi are not registered in Primavera. Strasser and Odu already have a profile on our official website in the first team page. Verdi should be included soon too.

Anyway, I think one of them will be sent on loan somewhere, especially Odu (it's my opinion, no rumour, no report, nothing official nor unofficial, just my opinion).

25th minute of second half of the Italian Super Cup between Genoa and Milan, and its 4-0 to Genoa, 2 goals by our Zigoni and 2 by Boakye. Fossati looks very involved though, Carmona looks like he has potential but hasn't had a good game.

5-0 to Genoa in the end. I get the impression we made too many mistakes up front and at the back and it cost us a lot.

Primavera lost the first game of their season at home to Varese 4-2... Verdi and De Vito scored for us.

Ganz Junior is attracting attention now. He scored brace against Portogruaro. He was in Milan Allievi Nazionali last year and now he seems to be our main striker for Primavera although there are Baretta, Gaeta and Palibrk who are 'older' than him.

Anyone got chance to watch him?

How is our youth team doing this year? Last season someone always posted our result and we can follow their progress almost every week.

There is lack of activity of this room lately especially for a team like junior team. Not many people are interested in youth development.

Our team has been doing not that good this year. We are not 8 points behind the leader, Atlanta. IMO the reason is that we have so many new players.

Quick question for those who know about the youth: Who is a better prospect - Calavano or Fossati?
