That is called spending in nothing!
Guys, at that time, Oddo was the best RB of Serie A. He was great in Lazio (their captain too, their FK and corner taker). He suddenly became good in Milan instead of great, at least during his first 6 months, which was enough to help us in CL. Then, it's been a completely different story ... The guy's lost it, unable to cross (and 6 months earlier, he was taking FK and corners !!), worse and worse in defence, he's now what we know he is.

But back in 2007, it was a good move, a good short-term move.

Krasic: "I have decided that I will stay in CSKA Moscow..."

if Italy had allowed 2 non-eu players he would be in either Milan or Juve by now...but it just turns out to be that he is not just not good enough to take the precious 1 non-eu spot.... alot of people here were crazy about him but I never really saw anything special about him...consistently that is.

Ok let's get this straight, do we have 1 NON -EU Spot or 2? in Italy, I thought it was 2. And who are the 2 that Milan has?

I'm assuming Pato and Thiago Silva are the 2.

I'm assuming Ronaldinho has Spanish citizenship...

That's a BS rule.. but anyhow, is there any possibility of getting Honda AND DZEKO.. obviously Milan Management wouldnt if they had 200 trillion in the banks...but I'm saying hypothetically is it possible to get both?? or do we have our 2 Non EU spots closed?

Look at this Team

-------------------------Abbiati---------------------------
----Sokratis----T. Silva-----Nesta-------Antonini-----
-------------------------Flamini-----------------------
---------------Pirlo-----------------Ambrosini----------
------------------------Honda--------------------------
--------------------Pato-----Dzeko---------------------

Sell Kaladze, Jankulovski, Bonera, Ronaldinho, Huntelaar

Subs: Adiyah, Pippo, Borriello, Abate, Seedorf, Verdi, Lazzari, Zambrotta, yepes, Onyewu, Amelia, Roma

Elmago99, firstly the new rule is one (not two) non EU signing per season, effective this season.

Secondly, it's subject to the NEW player (not the one we already have). And lastly players transferred from clubs within Italy don't count.

CMIIW guys..

Nalx, I think you are right.

I know its boring and 'gets old' to repeat but...we wouldn't spend the money if it wasn't 1 or 2 any way.

Precisely. And that's my point. Sometimes fans become completely infatuated with guys who don't work out. Oddo is one of many examples. Other times, fans are certain that a player sucks or has lost it or whatever and they surprise (I could count on one hand those of us who expected Ronaldinho to have a good season at this time last summer). The grass isn't always greener. But sometimes it is. Only time tells.

I found some amusement a couple of days ago in the reports that Huntelaar might go to Liverpool with Babel headed to Milan in return (and not just my usual amusement at papers twisting things or just simply making crap up). Upon the news, posters here were saying "No! No! Not Babel! He sucks!" So I visited a couple of Liverpool forums and found that a lot of Liverpool fans were saying "No! No! Not Huntelaar! He sucks!" It seems that while Liverpool fans generally aren't in love with Babel, they still think he has great potential and that he was simply misused by Rafa Benitez. They may have a point. If he remains at Liverpool, he might flourish under Hodgson. Huntelaar, if he stays, might flourish under Allegri. Or maybe a change of scenery would suit one or both of them. Fans become too quick to dismiss players who have fallen out of favor or maybe not settled at a club or in a league. And they're too quick to assume that players who have done very well elsewhere would be saviors if acquired. So it's probably best to give anyone the team thinks can help it win a chance, while not expecting too much from other players just because of their name.

Agree with you RIck, but for most players, they can only perform in certain formations while some can perform in many different formations. HUnter needs to play in a formation that consists of wingers to perform well, like ManU. Babel, I know the talents is there but due to RB constantly switching his position, I have no idea what is his best position.
A swap between them might just be what it needed for both players, then again maybe staying put for them will work too.

what this basically says is that we have so far "made" 9.2Mio since the mercato started by decreasing our payroll from 154.6Mio to 145.4Mio by releasing Dida & Favalli, and renewing for Oddo & Zambrotta at lower salaries. They also included Onyewu 1 yr free extension (but according to my knowledge, that will be his last yr, so this yr we will have to pay him the same salary).
Anyway, that makes 12.2Mio in savings
Yepes, Papa, & Amelia's salaries are acombined 3Mio
so that gives us a saving of 9.2Mio (yes, we got to hire 3 players & have 1Mio extra, by getting rid of Dida.... crazy!!!!)

As for the transfer market, they argue that the Storari-Papa affairs offset each other (although i though Papa cost a couple million more...), as well Mancini being returned to Inter & us getting 3 of their youngsters (which i am still not sure how that happened, as the guy was on loan in the 1st place...it must have been some clause we got to blackmail out of them to take Mancini of their payroll for the last 6 months last season) (and how great would it be if one of these 3 young guys turn out to be a Pirlo-type coup )

they continue to say that if we sell Hunter (15+3.5(salary)) & Gattuso (2+3.5(salary)), that's 24Mio in addition to the 9.2, that's a 33Mio with which they say we can get Dzeko.

They also argue that if we could (which i'm still hoping for) get rid of Kala & Janku, we can get another 6.4Mio (which i guess should be enough to pay Dzeko's salary)

They conclude by saying that the plan for Milan is to eventually cut down that yearly payroll to 100Mio out of which 84.6Mio will be for the core of the 1st team made of 18 players, but that will not happen by next year....and i'm not sure if it could happen at all, but it is nice to think that there could actually be some logic behind all these decisions and that there is a real plan we are following....

i know most people here will not agree with me, but i beleive that there is a financial plan for the future (but not saying that there wasn't any mistakes in the past) but i think a lot of clubs will be following along this path.

at this stage, anybody is an upgrade on Gattuso, especially if they are in their 20s, free, and take 2Mio less in salaries

we are linked to Mavuba, 26 french mid. Either him or Biliga (Anderlecht) would be better options than Blasi.

forget abt Dzeko coz Wolfsburg wont sell him 4 now, Adebayor wont be in starting line-up, he could be lured.........may be in 12m or 15....he can play as lone upfront and once Milan wanted him

a round up in our negotiations lately: i can read that the next re-enforcement will be in midfield due to the final words from berlu that ronny will definately stay and that he is mainly an attacker so we now need a midfielder, more precisely a CMF. the names which speculate are
LUCAS BILIGA 23 years Argentinian Anderlecht skillful and productive (7/10 my rating )
RIO MAVUBA 26 years French Lille .. a rock like gattusso (6/10)
Keitsuke Honda 24 years japanese CSKA moskow .. just great (8/10)
the first two will cost about 8-10 mil and honda will be 2mil more but any signing of them will be great
