- About Hleb, he left Barcelona on loan last year and he simply showed class in Germany ... - "our 4-3-3 system" is no more "our" system actually. With Allegri, we're back with 4-3-1-2 and it seems he is also working for a second formation used without Pirlo. I hoped Gattuso would leave too, but when I saw what kind of offer seemed to come (a 2M offer was reported ...), well, selling him or keeping him doesn't change anything as we won't be able to buy any good player with that money. - What kind of person is Allegri ? - Boateng, the one we saw during the WC, would feinitely be an upgrade for our midfield ... but what about the Boateng of a whole season ? Unless you watched his team each week-end for one year, you want the player based on good performances in the WC. When the management does that too, they get bashed like never before. - Did Leonardo say that he wanted to leave because he knew there would be no reinforcement or a similar thing ? No, it seems the main problem was the bad relationship between him and Berlusconi, and in these cases, there is no way people can work well. It's like in a firm, if your boss and yourself can't work together, either your boss or you will probably have to go or want to leave someday, and generally, it's not the boss who leaves. More than new players, what I'd like to know is if Allegri plans to use some of our former Primavera players (former if they play in first team, current if they don't), I think they should make it clear. If some of them are included and really have a role to play during the season, it could be a kind of good refreshment for the team, they would give some will and new ideas to our players. It could also be a good thing for Pato for example, having young players around him, players of his age, and not only "older brothers". Of course, they need to be at the right level or have the potential to reach a required level.

I won't mention new players.
Abate could prove to be more important than we realise. We have world class centrebacks in Nesta and Thiago. We now (suddenly) have two reliable alternatives in Papa and Yepes. It is now the most reinforced area of the team. If Allegri has the vision, he could adopt a 3 man defence - especially agaisnt weaker Seria A opposition. This would mean that we need two wide players with pace and athleticism running up and down the wing, who can at least defend a little. The best two options for me here are Antonini and Abate. While they both have defensive frailties, they offer more energy than others and could actually have an impact with the added support they would receive from Thiago or Papa who could play either side of Nesta (Yepes, when Nesta rests). EDIT - I know most people dont rate Abate as a rightback. But, I honestly believe this is the only position he can realistically takeup at a big club. He is fast and he can cross. After years of watching bad defenders recover from their mistakes simply through their speed (i.e. Silvestre), I really think he can be turned into a fullback. And, yes I know, Silvestre is more defensive, but Serghinio is a player who successfully made this transition towards the end of his career (Again helped by his pace). Abate has three things on his side: 1) Pace 2) Time to develop - Hes young 3) Lack of serious competition - Zambro and Oddo are both ticking timebombs. Its a matter of time before the milk goes off!

But Antonini and Abate are not the best passer's of a football and neither is a good crosser. So there energy will be great but it could lead to nothing except misplaced passes and wayward crossing.

Abate started off last season (and pre-season in America) with some amazing crosses. Once his performances and therefore confidence dipped so did his crosses. Patience.
I think you are harsh on Antonini, he has surprised me in lots of games with good touch and footwork. Hes no Roberto Carlos, but he is decent going forward. His main weakness is his defending, which I think would be sufficiently covered by a 3 man defence.

I think we should play with a defensive mind RB (Sokratis, Bonera) with Antonini as LB, that would balance the team.
About Abate, I don't know how we should use him as his passing in last match was awful. He and Oddo made the right flank harmless, despite of a lot of balls. |

Alficio, fair point. But against 'weaker' (all two of them), I think we can afford to throw some caution to the wind.

I dont like it as Pato will be wasted again on the right, he would be sooo much better in a 2 striker system or as lone striker.

Considering Our roster, its easier to play with 4-3-3, We failed with 4-3-1-2 at the start of last season, When Leo swiftched the formation to 4-3-3 , we succeded. Because Both Pato and Ronnie found more space and width with 4-3-3. Ronnie failed at trequartista role, Pato needs to be a little more physical in 4-3-1-2. Both Abate and Antonini did well, compared to expectations from them, with 4-3-3 they are responsibile with one more player from one wing, now they are alone on whole wing. it will decrease their perfonmances. Less space, more physical challenges will decrease Ronaldinho's and Pato's as well.
4-3-3 was the best formation for us, where our midfield and defences pressing in the front area, where Ronaldinho and Pato would find enough space, less physical challenges e.t.c. There is no way we can play with 4-3-1-2 now. Our wing backs cant do that job, we need better wing backs than both Antonini and Abate, we need a box to box offensive midfielder, aka Seedorf, until 2008, complete midfielder like him. Then we need a moveable trequartista there. Pato and Borriello is good pair for it. 4-3-1-2 is good for Borriello but he will lack the service of Ronaldinho there. 4-3-1-2 is better with Seedorf as trequartista, then will lack him in midfield trio. if you have Cafu or Serginho, you can count on them, yet Abate and Antonini? Boateng, i mean a player typee, a player can do something to change a game and a fighter. A player like that can be very useful for our team. Regarding Boateng, i follow him since German u21 team. You are right about Berlusconi-Leo part, but we all know what Leo's 5 demand was. Reinforce the squad with young and quality players, new training methods e.t.c. we can reduce the salaries by selling Gattuso, plus 2 m euros, with that money. You need Gattuso's sale's 2 M euros to sign a player? Come on, we just signed 3 Primavera players for 7 m euros. Above all, 4-3-3 is better formation to us, we will struggle so mcuh with 4-3-1-2. lets wait and see. Allegri is a dreamer, who sells dreams, its my first impression. he doesnt have any chance if you ask me. Kaladze, Jankulovski, Oddo, Onyewu, Gattuso, inzaghi e.t.c i mean we already have many CB's, we dont need Kaladze, we have enough players for wing back, no need for Oddo and Jankulovski. we signed Yepes and Papa, no need for Onyewu, even for Bonera. we have Borri, then Huntelaar, we could bring Paloschi, could get rid of inzaghi's wages. we could make around 20 m euros from wages at least. A Club who needs every cent of money couldnt behave like this. Already have enough CB's. Silva, Nesta as starters, then Yepes, Papa. its enough. 4 CB is enough, How many CB jvuentus have? Roma has Burdisso, Juan and Mexes. Juventus had Cannavaro now Bonucci, Chiellini. i dont even remember other's cuz its not much. inter has Samuel, Lucio. then Materazzi and Cordoba. How many CB's we have? -Bonera -Kaladze -Onyewu -Yepes -Silva -Nesta -Papa is it normal for club who cant make transfers because of there is no money? By the way, Our 7 m euros signings (2 of 3) will go on loan this season. |

Just a good example, last season he had best game vs Siena, one week later, Maicon(who was out of form at that time) erased Antonini from the game. vs strong sides, he is not enough. He is good vs the likes of Siena e.t.c. |

I'm more worried about Abate than about Antonini, Abate is terrible defensively, and also zambrotta is waaay past his best. We need a wingback for a few years now but still havent got one... Actually we need many players, but we dont get them.

yet Juventus, its been weird to me, they have money as well. its more complicated now, playing Papa/Bonera at right and Antonini at LB, we need width and we need wing backs offensive contribution in 4-3-1-2, vs strong sides, for example inter, Maicon erased Antonini from the game, his offensive contribution is very low, in this case ,you still want us to play with one defensive back? its a hard crush for our offensive organization. Stam and Serginho worked, cuz Serginho defensively was better than Antonini, hisoffensive power was amazing. Stam was solid. but we had great midfield trio and we have many players who can change a game in one second. Kaka, Shevchenko, Seedorf e.t.c. All were in their prime. if one wing doesnt work, it couldnt be a problem for a team like this but nowadays. it changed much. Both wing backs are defensively weak. we are not that strong offensively anymore. Offensively they cant make a Cafu/Serginho contribution as well. Last edited by Rabia15; 29-07-2010 at 13:37. |
