Bocchetti can play LB, and Antonini is better at RB.

or defence would be great, with good versatile back ups like zambro, bonera, and papa, and then two power cb oneywu and yepes. i couldnt complain. plus we would be set for years to come as bocceti, antonini papa and silva are all still very young.

if we keep ronaldinho we should definately sign dos santos. he was learning from ronnie while they were @ barca, and i think his progress was slowed, but he can become great. i think for 7 mil it is a good and almost safe investment.

however i still want merkel to play alot, as i think this is a good generation of german players.

About Antonini, he is 28 (I'll check, don't remember if he's 27 or 28), so we'll need a replacement for him in few years, I mean, 3-4 years.
Bocchetti is supposed to be one of the good Italian defenders for the future.

So I agree, with all these players, we would be set for some years and could concentrate on our midfield and only our midfield for the next mercatos.

yep, he's 28. and i agree with you on the midfield part; My suggestion would be to bench Pirlo, move Seedorf to regista, swap Flamini for Giovanni and gradually ease in some of the primavera players. A very inexpensive idea!

I don't like what you want to do with our midfield !!

If I understand, you bench Pirlo (who still has something to give) and replaces him by Seedorf (the guy who is bashed here even when he doesn't play ?), you bench Flamini, buy and start Gos Santos, and include young players ?

I'd say, let Flamini in, with Pirlo too, use Seedorf as vice-Pirlo, let's buy a good midfielder, a proven one if possible, or either a young box to box player (meaning we bench Ambro) or an attacking midfielder (meaning we bench Ronaldinho if he fails), and include some young players for rotation, allowing us to compete for a whole Serie A season.

Off topic a little bit, I know few days ago Milannews.it was questioning if Dzeko is a Milan fan, well here again he confirms it, also that Sheva is his idol.

My question is, for you, are these players not worth to play in a big club like Milan, or are these players not good enough to be a starter in our team (by knowing that our best RBs are Sokratis, Abate, Zambrotta and then Oddo) ? What I'd like to know is if these guys you rate "not good enough for Milan" are better or just at the same level (or even worse) than our current RBs ? Because if they are better, so even if they shouldn't start in a big club like Milan, they would be more useful that what we have ... I don't know if you understand what I mean, what I ask.

To make it simple, Ilsinho isn't good enough for Milan in your opinion, but if he comes, will he be a starter in our current Milan ?
Geo, just to avoid a bigger misunderstood, I rate Rafinha higher than Ilsinho. Ilsinho is very skilled, fast, tall, but a horrible RB... Plus, with low IQ(game wise). Imo he's a taller version of Cicinho... and I will be disappointed if he turns into our starter.

I always thought Brazilian press over hyped him at Săo Paulo(the guy even got called for Brazil NT), and his play in Brazil NT gave me reason. Back to your question, Ilsinho is more skilled than any of the four names you wrote, but as a RB I would chose Abate over him any day(Sokratis is early to tell). The others 2 are "former players in activity" so, any chair would do a better job on the right side of the field.

Look... as Brazilian, I love skilled(offensive) fullbacks, and I'm even in favor of to put a DM to cover(and help) the FB, but the player needs to at least do a minimum(def. wise)... and be a REAL FORCE in offense!! And Imo Ilsinho doesn't cut in both categories....

Btw, when I was against Rafinha purchase, my only reason was the fact we would spend a non-EU with him. With our squad problems, imo it would be a big mistake to burn it in a fullback not named Alves/Maicon(type of player). And at that time, we were linked with better(in potential also) players(MD's, CB's...).

After following Hernanes for years, now we're officially able to see him playing. . . for Lazio. They agreed to pay (allegedly) €10 millions. Apparently, we're more interested in squandering those little 7 millions we had for three you-know-who youngsters from Merda.

Next, it will be Dzeko so Forza Baldies!!

Ambro and Flamini would anchor the midfield and give them room to dance. Thoughts?
I think Pirlo and Seedorf 5 years ago probably would have been able to do it quite well, but I have to agree with Gabriel that they aren't best used together in today's lineup, as they both lack pace now and physically are weakening (With Pirlo it's less noticeable as he's smart in how he runs).

It also depends on the opponents. For the majority that we play they won't man mark in central midfield, so the system probably wouldn't have the desired effect.

A regista is a director of a game from deep midfield. A bit like a trequartista (playmaker) in a deep area, a regista will start moves for teams as well as control the direction of play for the team.

The regista so far in Allegri's system has been Seedorf.

Bocchetti actually makes a lot of sense. He's been used frequently as a LB and is a very solid defender and can push forward at fullback (moreso than Sokratis). Also, after watching yesterday's match I fear Nesta may be headed the way of Cannavaro of the last 4 years, as he was frequently burned for pace by Cisse and rarely seemed comfortable, so having options with both Sokratis and Bocchetti is useful.

Kevin Prince Boateng would be the best add since ages. He does not cost much, but brings in so much quality.

As much as I like Hernanes, I just don't think he's just what we need at the moment. He distributes play for Sao Paolo, just like Pirlo does, or how Seedorf can do, I don't think that's what we need.

The one I really think we missed out on is Ramires. There's a player who's exactly what we need, full of energy and intelligent at the same time.

Three players I would be satisfied with are Boateng, Dos Santos and Bocchetti. They would give us much needed alternatives at fullback and midfield positions.

And offloading Jankulovski and Kaladze in the process would be just wonderful.

May I ask, what is going on with Onyewu? I didn't see him featuring in friendlies so far...

Some interesting news today that has got me excited....

- KPB + Bocchetti to Milan for Jankulovski (Not even Moratti of the old days would accept this deal, I dont know how Milan have done it (maybe we are the ones paying for Genoa's transfers, I'll explain later what I think)
- Kaladze finally thinks of leaving

Berlusconi seems to be willing to invest however he does not want to invest for Milan at a time like this because the Italians will question what is he doing.... so I think Milan have found a club like Genoa for them to buy their transfers (including Rafinha, Veloso probably) and then we could get them in the future. You could see that as there does not seem to be any cash involved for the Sokratis deal, only gave them 3 players on co-ownership. It does seem like there is some sort of alliance and things going under the table, especially if we get KPB and Bocchetti.

Both teams win, Milan get the signings they wanted (even they they have to wait for it) without having to spend anything officially for the world to see, and Genoa gets a great squad temporarily.
