Why Bochetti? Isn't he a centerback? Don't we have like 20 already? Because I've seen him play as LB before he is not good. I hope this doesn't mean we want to sell Silva.

Genoa are getting Insua(20 yr old fullback) for 5 mil, and we are paying them Janku + 5 mil to get Bochetti... how lovely.

Janku is holding up the move for Bochetti and also if Bochetti does arrive another CB , does it mean the end of T.Silva.
it could mean the end of Bonera too.

We need a player like Seedorf in scudetto year for instance more if you ask me.

Bochetti is another Bonera who could play LB and 5cm shorter (If Bonera didn't get so much injuries, he could be one of the best italian CBs)

In this deal, we could get rid of Janku, so why not, it is OK if they ask Abate.

Antonini is an attack-minded LB, this guy is better defensive wise, or he could let Anto play RB, like many other fans want.

As moronic as our management is, we won't sell Silva.

I think Bocchetti is coming because we have designs to get rid of Janku and Kaladze. Also, Nesta is perennially crocked and now well into the twilight of his career, so we need a capable deputy for him.

I think this would be a fantastic transfer. It's quite clear: once Milan declare someone is not for sale, they don't sell him that transfer window. Notice, with the Kaka' saga: we didn't sell him until Galliani started evading the question. After the Fiorentina game, when asked about Kaka' he said "please leave me in peace; I don't want to get stressed out." A few days later, he was professing his love for Perez, and Ricky was out.

Silva, Pato, and Ronaldinho are all staying--for now.

Aficio: I don't agree with your esteem for Bonera. He is a decent player, but he was never top class. His temperament and positioning are hugely suspect.

Galliani is very good at talking with players, especially when he want one to stay, while he is clueless in showing the door to a player.

Uncle Fenster is too soft.

In 2006, we must give Vogel some money to exchange with Ricardo Oliveira. Maybe the same happens with Janku this time.

I used "one of the best italian CB"

In Parma, Bonera & Ferrari were the top CBs pair in 2002-2004, only inferior to Nesta & Maldini (Cannavaro & Thuram were formed in 2004). At that time, he was already one of the best italian CBs. But after that, Ferrari went to Inter and Parma didn't play well, Bonera suffered from some injuries, lost form and was sold very quick to Milan.

He was OK at RB and very solid at CB until the late of 2008-2009 season, when he suffered a serious injuriy, and joined Nesta & Kaladze in hospital, Maldini & Favalli were our CBs pair (and very reliable). But in early 2008-2009, Bonera was our best CB.

If a player spent almost 2 years on treatment table, you couldn't expect much from him, give him time to regain fitness and another chance.

Good point but even Gilardino was stellar at Parma and flopped at Milan. My point is Bonera never really lived up to his promise and his relatively few appearances for the national team proves that. True, it is tough going when you have Cannavaro, Nesta, and Chiellini to contend with, but at times he has not even been in the Azzurri reckoning.

The times he has played for Milan he has often been volatile and edgy--undesirable qualities for a defender.

Hasan, sometimes a player doesn't get called up to the national team not because they aren't good enough. Ronnie and Pato with Dunga? I rest my case. Lippi and Donadoni never rated Bonera, and had their own favorites.

Like Aficio mentioned, he was second only to Nesta and Maldini back in 2002-2004, no call ups then meant that there were always better players, but that doesn't mean he wasn't good. I'd take Maldini, Nesta, Canna and Zambro in their prime over any other italian defender anyday (Baresi excluded :P)

I too, recall him having a decent few seasons with us. He starts each season well enough. The only problem is that he tends to get injured quite often, and doesn't seem to recover well enough for the rest of the season.

That said, I really hope to watch more of Onyewu in action. I've probably seen him play just one official game. I really would like to see what he can do.

As for Midfield, I personally think we need at least two more signings. the ACM position needs a decent/more-than-decent backup, and we need a DCM that can play the Pirlo game, in case anything happens over the season.

I still believe we will use our Non-EU spot. its just a matter of time.

I think he is more incosistent than lacking required technique or mental, but it is hard to remain consistent with consistent injuries

When he was at Parma in 2004-2006, the mother company - Parmalat was on the brink of bankrupt, they sold many top player: Adriano, Gilardino, Buffon, Ferrari,... then from one of Serie A G7 to relegated team. His form was heavily affected then. At the same time, Barzagli was the brightest prospect, Materazzi & Panucci was at his best, enough to outed him.

He was not a starter in Milan, because there were Maldini, Nesta, Kaladze, so it was hard for him to be chosen.

In Euro 2004, he was young, so he played in U21 Championship instead, when his partner - Ferrari went to Portugal.

In World Cup 2006, he was on the list, but because Zambrotta's injury was OK, he headed home.

He is an unlucky guy. He is a good CB, but no outstanding point, like height, strength, speed or character, so easy to be overlooked is understandable.

News: Official: Milan have signed Pitton on loan

AC MILAN have signed Mattia Pitton.

Still no further additions in the first team, but the Primavera team have signed another player, Pitton, on loan from Liventina Gorghense.

The 17-year-old midfielder has good shot and excellent technique and he will play next season with the AC Milan Primavera.

The player could take the place of Rodney Strasser, as the 20-year-old has been promoted to the first team. He might be also an alternative for Alexander Merkel who will probably play in the first team occasionally.

The youth system of Milan is working well and Milan have already added few new players to the Primavera, including Pitton, and former Inter midfielder Marco Ezio Fossati.

Bonera was never a world class defender and never will be a world class defender, he is good defender nothing more, nothing less. i hope he goes to Genoa...

At that time, Nesta-Maldini/Stam was the best CB pair, then Samuel-Chivu-Panucci/Zebina comes, then Juve signed Cannavaro, Cannavaro-Thuram pair was great too. İnter had Cordoba and Materazzi, good pair. Then Parma defence, i mostly remember a defender who was quite solid, who played with Ferrari many times, whom i didnt remember his name, Castelazzi or something. Bonera at WB's and sometimes at CB, never impressed me at that time, except his marking game. i rated that defender higher than Bonera. especially, Bonera's positioning is a mess.

Bonera some years ago was a very good young defender to be a potentially worldclass defender but, mostly becouse of injury, he never became what was expected of him.

You're right, and his level even probably decreased during these years of injuries ... at least, Bonera has an excuse, him !!

----

About Bocchetti, I don't see why that would mean that we sell Thiago Silva ...

That maybe means that Allegri just doesn't trust Onyewu, Kaladze and Jankulovski and that they really want to have a young defense ? Isn't it a possibility ? Without seeing evil everywhere ? For once, they reinforce with young and promising players the defense, and suddenly, everyone is afraid we could sell the best defender ? What can the club do ? Because if they don't do anything, people are upset ...

With Bocchetti, we would have:
LB - Antonini, Bocchetti, Zambrotta
RB - Sokratis, Zambrotta, Oddo ()
CB - Nesta, T.Silva, Sokratis, Bocchetti, Yepes, Bonera

The players who shouldn't be counted as 1 but 1/2 because of their possible and probable injuries.
The other players would probably be useless.

IMO, it would be a very solid defense, able to play in all competitions for a whole season. Potentially, it would be a very defensive minded defense (because of the FB, except Antonini), but if that means we don't concede, I'm in this bandwagon because I'm tired to see Milan concede goals because of semi chances from our opponents, mistakes, ... and a great team always has a great/solid defense.

I dont like the fact that our FBs are defensive-minded..I think the FB roles in recent years have become as important as an attacking midfielder.

Geo is right that Bochetti could simply mean Allegri doesnt trust Onyewu/Bonera/KK to be 5th choice. I would much rather we go for Insua (if he has a EU passport) than Bochetti.

Allegri: "Bochetti? We are very well covered in the defense department. KVP? We will know more in a week".

Rumors that Genoa will buy him and loan to us with option to buy HALF his contract next year are increasing. I would really love to know whats the reason of all this, when I suggested my opinion, they said I love making conspiracies...but isn't it a bit obvious now?

Amelia -> Milan free loan
Sokratis -> 50% of Oduamadi, Strasser, Zigoni

And now they want to buy a player (who has an EU passport) to loan him to us? I don't think Milan has become that low. I think Berlusconi doesn't want to be seen spending money in such dire economic times.

Genoa take Boateng for Milan? Sunday 8 August, 2010

www.football-italia.net

It’s reported that Genoa will complete the signing of Kevin Prince Boateng in order to loan him to Milan, cutting Lazio out of the equation.

“Boateng? We won’t name names, but we’ll see how things progress over the week,” commented Coach Massimiliano Allegri this morning.

The Portsmouth man is at the centre of a transfer triangle in Serie A, as he is wanted by three top sides.

According to the latest suggestions from the Italian media, Genoa have the upper hand when it comes to sealing a deal and could make it official by tomorrow.

However, the club has already signed so many players this summer that Boateng would be used as part-exchange in a different transfer.

Boateng would go to Milan on loan with the right to buy half his contract at the end of the season.

Salvatore Bocchetti’s agent has also confirmed that the defender is in negotiations for an exchange with the Rossoneri.

If Marek Jankulovski turns down the chance to join Genoa, then Milan are set to offer youngster Ignazio Abate instead.

“Bocchetti is a great player, but we are already covered in defence,” insisted Allegri.

DO NOT EXCHANGE ABATE HE'S ONE OF OUR FEW MIDFIELDERS WHO ACTUALLY RUNS AND CROSSES !
