Buffon - Motta, Bonucci, Chiellini, De Ceglie - Marchisio, Sissoko (Melo) - Pepe, Candreva - Amauri, X.

For "X", I'm sure Del Neri will not stick with Del Piero for too long, I mean there's no logic in sticking with old players when they've bought all young players. Krasic has been linked with Juventus for a long time so if Diego rumors are true, Del Neri wants to let Diego go and to get Krasic for that position. That makes sense if we're talking about Diego from last season, but Diego from Werder days is just perfect for that position.

I agree. Del Neri is a 4-4-2 expert, Chievo with magnificient wingattack made him wellknow to world football. And the last successful Juve with Capello used this, too.

Diego's presence makes it looks like 4-2-3-1, but that means the player doesn't suit the formation well. Sell him and buy Dzeko is best option, but can they? Ibra & Trez were the pair to be jealous for 5 years ago. Amauri has neither the scoring ability of Trez nor passing & creativity of Ibra, I don't know how he'll play. I think they will use Martinez as second striker and Del Piero as super sub, but the Trez position still a remaining problem, not even Trez himself can solve now.

Juve have the clear idea, but they lack the right players.

Ganso really has improved his overall game. I remember Milano84 also was high on him, but at that time Ganso wasn't cut to European game. In just 6 months the guy added a level of work rate even a coach like Capello would love. Plus, he's starting to learn how to play with a player "on his neck"... six months ago he would be frustrated easily.

The talent was there, but like Alex(Fenerbach), Ganso would have need luck to find a coach in Europe to uses him properly.

Fair point about Lucas, but now you understand why we Brazilians rate him high. I watch Lucas since he was the captain of our youth NT, and the guy has talent. To be honest I still rate Jucilei high, and he would be my starter, but Lucas isn't bad as EPL people like to say.

First, his game(short-fast-pass) isn't suited to Liverpool style. Plus, pace is a factor for him. To be fair, he adapted to EPL pace better than I though, but thats not his game. Spain or Italy style suits him better.

But the more important thing is the arrogance of the coaches. It was clear Rafa Benitez liked Lucas, but I don't understand how a he buy a player to uses him in a wrong position. Like Fergusson buying the best AMD in a under-20 WC and turning him into a normal DM. Not every player can adapt to multiple roles, and I'm really concerned where this generation( Ganso, Neymar, etc...) will play in Europe

To make it straight, Rafa Benitez is already killing another Brazilian talent(Coutinho) playing him at the left. C'mon, the kid didn't have the body to play there. Just because he's talented?! Coutinho is a skinny #10, and to put him in just a sector of the pitch, will only make it easy for the defenders. He needs to be roaming the field using his pace...

Btw, rant aside(sorry), the player you asked is Arouca(also from Santos), the best #5 playing in Brazil nowadays. To make it clear for the ones that never saw him, think about a speedy Seedorf turned into a real holder. Thats Arouca... Amazing talent!

He will have his chance in the near future.
I remember I asked about Ganso a few months ago and you were saying about his growth and work rate then too.

lol, unfortunately missing the match and not seeing much more of Lucas in the highlights means I still don't know how well he played. I'm sure he's better than rated in England though.

I think it is Arouca you mentioned yeah. Do you have any videos of him (I want to confirm).

Firstly, their wing backs are not world class wing backs, its not obvious their contribution, Bonucci didnt prove his worth at highest level, Chiellini's injury problems.

Then in midfield, There will be a problem in team defence, then central midfield, Juve needed a player who is effective offensivelty in further area, like Hernanes for instance. would be a steal move for them.

Then offensive game, Pepe is not a scoring winger, then other is not as well.
Amauri is not a striker who can score more than 20 goals each season.in this case, everything depents on that Mister X. an SS who can score +20 goals.
Well, by looking at this team I agree they're not a Scudetto-winning material, but Sampdoria wasn't CL material either and Del Neri brought them there.

Mister X, will have to do as many assist as he can, because mainly that's his job. Something like Cassano at Sampdoria last season. Del Neri is focused on defense so 20 goals from Amauri (or else) would be enough for him.

Anyway, Juventus is building a team for the future. Looking at their defense, in 5 years I can see Italian NT defense in them. I would like Milan to do that, but we somehow want to stay competitive at all costs...

This is off topic, but amazing how many Italians are in this lineup. Too bad for them that Italy sucks nowadays.

just curious though, when was it the last time that a "big" Italian team had all Italian players, or even having 8 or more? or when was it the last time that Inter had more than 2 or 3 Italian players on the pitch?

I hope you're right, Geo... But I'm really worried with the future of Ganso and(mostly) Neymar. Anderson was the best under-20 at that time, starter at Porto as AMD, but Ferguson thought after the purchase he knows better in what position Anderson need to play...

So European scouts have 2 chances to see these players and understand what is their real role/position in a team: with their club and with the NT. If they buy one of them and don't use him in his favourite position/role, then, it's no more arrogance, it's just stupidity ...
I didn't want to use this word, but I agree. But still there's a little arrogance when the subject is a SA player. Plus, can't understand how a coach can give the green light for a purchase without to see a players several times.

About Brazil, it's just crazy how after each competition, they manage to have a new team with new stars/potential stars. Do you imagine that guys like Ronaldinho, Kaka' (injured, but regarding his recent form, does he have his place in that team ?) or Diego are out of the team and they're not 30+ years old ?! They would be the leading stars for most of the NT in the world.
You're not in majority here, Geo. For some reason, and reading opinions around the world, Brazilian players aren't so valued like in the near past. Now the trend is on the Argies, Spanish and Germans... Btw, don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing any of them.

After 2002 WC we won, our players were over valued. We won because of a great coach, and 3 amazing players. But at that time, clubs payed tons of money for normal Brazilians players. Our talent at that time wasn't that good. But this generation is special, the last two under-17 and under- 20 generations produced serious talent, and now they will meet in Brazil senior NT for 2014. Let's hope Mano stay in this course...

Quote:
All countries should take a look at the way Brazil organizes the formation of players, how they produce new talents, especially nowadays, because they manage to produce new talents for all positions. That just sounds impossible, but they do it.
Some years ago I had a long discussion with 3 guys(2 European and 1 Asian) in a football board about it. They for some reason, believed Brazilian players pop from the beach or streets They think it wasn't possible for Brazilians clubs to have amazing academies, like in Holland just for a example.

Here, formation of players is a serious thing. The structure for kids in São Paulo, Internacional, Cruzeiro, Santos, Atletico Parananese and others clubs is AMAZING.

But just taking Italy as example, I think the problems also relies in the coaches hands... but this post is already too long and itś another discussion

Closest I can think of is probably Milan 94 which had 7 potential starters: Costacurta, Baresi, Maldini, Tassotti, Albertini, Donadoni and Masarro. We also had international outcasts Rossi, Simone and the missed potential of Lentini gracing our squad at that time. Parma had 5 players in that squad also.

Il Grande Torino from 1949 probably comes closes with 10 players, all who died in the Superga air disaster.

2007 CL final, we had:
Oddo, Nesta, Maldini, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Pirlo, & Inzaghi
Favalli & Gilardino came in as substitutes....

We can now have:
Oddo, Nesta, Bonera, Antonini, Abate, Gattuso, Pirlo, Ambrosini, Boriello, Inzaghi!!

ok i hope not, but we can :P

He played as a holder, in front of T. Silva and David Luiz. Only watching the game he will appear...

Man City announced their squad for Europa League & it does not include Bellamy or Ireland....
I couldn't care lessfor Bellamy, but i think with the good connection with Mancini, we can probably get Ireland on loan...another free transfer that could turn out a success.
btw Robinho is in the list ...
