Genoa will target Tottenham’s Giovani Dos Santos once they sell Giuseppe Sculli to Internazionale.

Sculli will join the Nerazzurri next week as a replacement for the Manchester City bound Mario Balotelli.

Finding a substitute for Sculli is now a top priority for the Marassi outfit who have already had a busy summer of spending.

Dos Santos, who appeared for Mexico at the World Cup, has been linked with Serie A rivals Milan in recent days.

However, whispers in the peninsula claim that the 21-year-old is also of interest to the ambitious Genoa.

Dos Santos is a graduate of the Barcelona youth academy and moved to Spurs in the summer of 2008.

He spent last season on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray.

He wouldn’t come cheap though given that he is valued at around €10m.

Genoa will only receive something in the region of €5m from Inter for Sculli.

KEVIN-PRINCE BOATENG’S arrival is close.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Genoa are very close to sign Boateng as the difference between the Italian club and Portsmouth is only €800,000. On Monday, he will arrive to Milanello training center to sign over Milan deal.

According to today’s edition of the Italian sports daily, Genoa will buy the entire card of the 23-year-old and then will loan him on long-season basis to Milan with an option of redemption.

I dont understand, why would genoa buy him and loan him out + if he performs well loosing him next summer

because they get a "arguably" strong/good player, he gets to train with the best and we keep him sharp and fresh for them, no doubt the deal will involve us been able to buy him off of them a loan to buy move if you will with the clause been set at what they paid for him then a little more, so if we buy him they get the money back if we say no way Jose and send him back they get a quality player back who we have kept warm for them all season, either way Genoa hold all the cards in the deal and come out winners whatever happens. thats how i am seeing it anyway

probably because we badly undervalued him at 12€ million and we (the fans) saw how much potential the guy had and Zio Fester threw it away.

It was 15M, so we sold him for a lot more than what we bought him ... What I mean is that the way you see the deal for Genoa with Boateng is probably the way Galliani saw it for Gourcuff: we earn a lot of money from the sale of the player OR we have a quality player back.

Anyway, the Gourcuff of nowadays wouldn't be that useful in Milan. He has really lost his form last year, he wasn't good with the French NT before and during the WC (during the WC, nobody was good so that doesn't count), and now, we have to wait to see how he will perform. But if he plays again like last year, the 15M fee will be a good deal actually.

i suppose the differences been are, if we buy Boateng the money will be reinvested by Genoa not taken and pocketed like silvio and Galliani seem to do.

Using Milan to attract him is a clever move of Genoa

I always saw the Gourcuff thing as a good deal. Maybe Milan could have taken better advantage of the profit, but to make 11.5 million off a player who had done nothing in two years is pretty good. Of course, at the end of Gourcuff's first season at Bordeaux, many thought Milan might have gotten more from him. Maybe that's true. But when the deal was signed there was no reason to envision him playing so well in France and even now there's no guarantee he would fit well in Italy.

This is the way I look at all the loan and co-ownership deals when Milan sends a player out. If the player becomes a big success, either Milan brings back a good player or makes a nice profit. A win either way.

This, if it happens, can be the same for Genoa. Personally, I kind of like the idea of Milan getting Boeteng on a trial basis for a season. He has potential, but I'm not convinced he's a long-term solution. If Milan takes him and he works out, they can buy him. If not, they send him back with no harm done. As long the purse strings are going to be tight, this seems as though it could be a good alternate temporary solution.
