I am dead against selling Flamini for whatever reason. If a club came in with a mega £ offer, then maybe.....

But certainly, I see him as the future of our midfield, as Ambro and Rino have seen better days.

I don't see him ever being the player Ambro or Rino were in their prime. Obviously I'd like to keep him, but if it means the difference between bringing in a world class player who has proven himself to be brilliant in Serie A and nobody or another lackluster signing, I'll help pack his bags. Players such as Flamini are a dime a dozen (relatively speaking, of course ). Players such as Zlatan are rare.

And, by the way, I would consider 15 million euros very much a mega-offer for Flamini.

It could be his year ... with a coach having faith in him, wanting to give him the keys of the midfield, I don't think it's the right time to sell him.

It's a huge mistake when we know we could have sold Gattuso earlier this summer (of course, not for the same kind of amount).

Economically, it's a good move: a free player sold 15M, but tell me who we could buy who could be as good as him without spending too much money ? I don't see any player right now.

Agree, but I add another reason. His wage. He earns 5.5 million yearly.

I believe he can be replaced with someone of his calibre and paid less.

That said let's give him a chance. After all, Franco too was rejected by Merda youth. Aren't they lovely cousins or what? Haha

With the sale of Huntellaar and Flamini Ibrahimovic expenses are nearly covered if tgcom's story is right, including the salary.
So Milan still have funds to buy another midfielder requested by the coach.

Name me one, the one whom we could get in two or three days. If Flamini leaves, surely there'll be no one to replace him. Maybe B&G will say that Boateng is Flamini replacement (we have to sell one player to buy his replacement).

I'll give two: Mahamadou Diarra and Fernando Gago. None of them seems to be in Mourinho's plan.

Having said that though, I still rate Flamini higher than them. With such best mercato, as Brasileiro put it, in Rafa going to Inter and Adriano to Roma, and lastly Diego out of Juve; we won't get better chance to win the scudetto than this year. And to do so we must keep our best players.

Couldn't agree more. I don't want to see Pato playing as Right wing forward yet another year. If Ibra comes, will he play RWF with Pato as the central striker? No. If we need to persist with 4-3-3, a proper RWF is needed like Messi/Pedro. Even a good attacking right winger would do.

I personally like 4-3-1-2. If Ibra comes, I wish to see a proper CAM.

First of all, Ibra AND Robinho arriving this Mercato is NOT an option.

For that to happen, Flamini, Huntelaar & Ronaldinho would ALL have to be sold. Robinho and Ronaldinho play in the same position. They play out wide left, and neither goes back to defend. Both players are only good in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 type system.

It appears that Ronaldinho will NOT be sold. If Ibra comes, he wants to play with Ronaldinho.

I would say one of two options can and should occur. If we sell Flamini AND Huntelaar, we need to buy Van der Vaart or Lassana Diarra.

4-2-3-1
------------------Amelia-------------------
--Sokratis--T.Silva--Nesta--Antonini-----
-------------Boateng--Pirlo---------------
Pato-------Van der Vaart (Honda)--Ronaldinho
----------------Ibrahimovic-----------------------

OR

4-3-3
-----------------Amelia--------------------
-Sokratis--T. Silva--Nesta--Antonini-----
------Boateng---Lassana---Pirlo---------
---Pato----------------------Ronaldinho or Robinho
----------------Ibrahimovic---------------------------

** IF Ibra does not come this will be formation
----------------Amelia--------------------
-Sokratis--T. Silva-Nesta--Antonini-----
-----Boateng--Pirlo--Flamini-------------
---------------Ronaldinho----------------
-----------Pato-----Robinho--------------

*this case would have NO penalty striker, and Huntelaar would be gone..

I am still not happy with Berlusconi and Galliani as while it would be great to get Ibrahimovic, they're still paying 30-40 Million Euros for him. If so, why have they been talking as if they're poor for the past 5 years...How did they not make money after bringing in Beckham...Dinho..how did they not make money from Sheva sale or from Kaka sale?????????

Lastly, with Antonini and Sokratis as my wing backs,, and a shaky midfield, I'm still not 100% convinced we'll have any trophy's even still...

Like one poster said.. If we're such a "BIG CLUB", then we should have stars at every position... Van der Wiel, van der Vaart or Honda, Coentrao, Rannochia and Bonucci as back ups, maybe Lassana, etc....

As much as I like Flamini, I do question his role on this team this season. Sure, Allegri said that he likes Flamini a lot, but are we really supposed to assume that he is going to be a starter? We play a three men midfield. Pirlo is a surefire starter; Boateng also seems like a starter based on the fact that he is our only CM that has any attacking capabilities; that leaves one spot open between Ambrosini and Flamini. Somehow, I really doubt that Allegri would be allowed to bench the captain of this team for Flamini. I am not saying it wouldn't be a good move, just not that likely. So to me, selling Flamini for 15 million to finance Ibrahimovic is a good move. If we could somehow get another midfielder before the end of the mercato, that would obviously be even better.

Ronaldinho is not a PROPER CAM.. hes a left winger barca style..such as Robinho...

Honda, Van der Vaart, Gourcuff, Xavi, Diego, Totti, Snejder, Scholes, Lampard, are proper CAM.....

No ...
It's not because a coach in Real Madrid decided to use Robinho as a left "winger", and then all other coaches in Europe decided to use him there, that the guy is a left "winger".

Pato played on the right wing last season: is he a right winger ? Not at all. If Allegri decides to use him there again, and if then, he plays there for 3-4 years, will he be a right winger ? No IMO.

Robinho is a second striker, he moves a lot. He likes coming from the left, but if he's free to play like he wants, he'll also come from the right ...

So Robinho and Ronaldinho don't cancel each other (and don't forget that Ronaldinho will have to try to be more central this year under Allegri).

Dude, this team isn't as bad as you think. First of all, I thought our midfield looked better than in a long time last night. Pirlo had an off night, but Boateng impressed me, and Ambro is Ambro - always solid.

What is really important to keep in mind though, is that we were within a point of Inter fairly late in the season last year. Had it not been for our injury crisis, we probably would have kept up the pace with them until the end of the season. And that brings me to something that makes me very optimistic about the coming season: We have more squad depth now than we did last year. In spite of all the complaints made towards Galliani for his lack of effort on the market this summer, I can see a strong Milan being built.

We have a better coach than we did last season, and we have Boateng, who is exactly the type of player that we need, a talented young defender in Papa and hopefully a world class striker in Ibra. Dida has been replaced by Amelia and Yepes has come in for Favalli. How is this Milan not stronger than the one we watched last season?

Finally, the main reason I'll be delighted if Ibra joins is that he's practically guaranteed to score a lot of goals. I had a look at his stats today, and he's scored 150 goals in about 300 official club matches. And not just that - his strength and technique make him exactly the kind of player we need up front from a tactical point of view too. He'll be able to create space for Pato, who can then use his speed, and will link up beautifully with Dinho. And that also means that Pirlo's passes won't go to waste like they have for the last three years (yes, it turns out that statistically, Pirlo is still the best playmaker in the Serie A).

I really don't understand this pessimism, especially not at a moment like this.
