After all the bitching and moaning that's been done the past few years about Milan turning into cheapskates and not bringing in the big players, now Milan is on the verge of acquiring one of Serie A's most brilliant players of recent years and suddenly everyone thinks they're Milan's accountant.

Totally agree.
But its less so about the money and more so about the players though.

I want Flamini to stay regardless of who we get in this mercato, its hard enough to hold the midfield already unless we're using KPB and Flams. We have no decent support for them besides Slowdorf and Ambro (Gattuso is past it, I'm sorry). If we lose Flams, then we need a decent replacement, I don't know where we'll get the money for it, since Flams is suppose to be for Covering the Ibra deal.

Given that we'll lose Hunter AND Flams for Ibra, somehow I would prefer we lose just Hunter for 'Binho. We might even have some left over in the tank for another Midfielder that way.

As much as buying Ibra would make us serious again, selling Flamini would be step backwards...

I say sell Hunter for 15M, and buy Ibra for 40M (15M this year and other 25 trough next two years)....

dont get me wrong i would love to have ibra on milan. but to spend 40 million on him is insanity. especially when they can spend less on robinho or get dzeko who is much younger. i just cant see milan spending 40ml on him. either way robinho or ibra i will be happy with because it will make milan a lot better.

Since when did Contreao become a better player than our Antonini??

Also Nesta & Silva play on other sides in defence.
I agree that this team seems attractive but it would really be a defensive disaster. I mean who's gonna mark?

Still, i have to kindly disagree with you on Coentrao and Antonini.
I like Luca a lot but the portuguese guy i think is better.
But i repeat, i have no problem with Anotnini as our left back. He is not Roberto Carlos but he is not Francesco Coco either...

Anyway, this day reminds me of some good old forum days.

somehow somewhere inside of me I want Ibra to reject the offer so we sign Robinho....but also common sense says Ibra is very important for Milan, but I've always had Robinho as one of my favourite players.. I think Robinho's backtracking can be as useful as Ibra's strength. Meh I dunno I would sign both and take a financial risk. Both can be important.

since everyone is in dreamland, let me try this:

-------------------------- ABBIATI --------------------------
SOKRATIS --- NESTA -------------SILVA ------ BONERA--
------------- FLAMINI ------------ BOATENG ---------------
---- ROBINHO ------------------------------RONALDINHO
--------------------PATO ------ IBRA ----------------------

Obviously it's not the most balanced team, and obviously Nesta plays on the right and Silva plays on the left, I know that. My point was....everyone keeps talking about how Ibra AND Robinho will be coming so I wrote a team of Super Stars,,,as a joke..i wouldn't necessarily want that team although I'd love van der Wiel...

I'll take Coentrao over antonini though, 100%...Antonini is a solid defender, but does not in my opinion offer too much in attack. I will, however, start him over Abate or Zambrotta this year in a heart beat. I'm curious to see if Bonera/Zambrotta/Abate/Sokratis will start on the Right.

So what's the verdict? Do we prefer:
-----Boateng--Pirlo--Flamini------------
--------------Ronaldinho-----------------
-----------Pato---------------
--------------Ibrahimovic----

OR

-----Boateng--Pirlo--Flamini------------
------------Ronaldinho----------------
--------------------Robinho--------
------------Pato-------------------

If money just happened to appear for us to sign both...obviously we would

But who would play and in what formation??? That's the question

Seems Milan Management doesn't like taking chances on anyone young. This has been their policy for quite some time now. They want proven "CHAMPIONS"

Dzeko on paper makes sense.. 35 million, 24, a Milanista, strong, technically good

Ibrahimovic is a proven world class star though, and Milan seems to want that, even if it is 40 m. What annoys me is that they cry poverty, then come up with all this money for Ibra. Deal is not done yet obviously, but I'm very confused. Robinho may well be the better buy, as well as Dzeko.

Anyone know the details on Robinho? (Wages, transfer fee?)

Of course man. We have to buy them both. If we only had the money. I can't even start to imagine what an Ibra-Pato-Robinho-Dinho attack would be like.

Still, i will be very happy with one of them. Preferably Ibra. I think he still has 3 maybe 4 full years of top class football. He is a champion after all

Also 15 million for a player like Flamini is a very, very good deal for Milan.
As long as we replace him properly.

OK, i never thought that you meant it like for real.
I almost addded Sergio Ramos on the right

As for what i prefer, i would go with Ibra.

What is really important to keep in mind though, is that we were within a point of Inter fairly late in the season last year. Had it not been for our injury crisis, we probably would have kept up the pace with them until the end of the season. And that brings me to something that makes me very optimistic about the coming season: We have more squad depth now than we did last year. In spite of all the complaints made towards Galliani for his lack of effort on the market this summer, I can see a strong Milan being built.

We have a better coach than we did last season, and we have Boateng, who is exactly the type of player that we need, a talented young defender in Papa and hopefully a world class striker in Ibra. Dida has been replaced by Amelia and Yepes has come in for Favalli. How is this Milan not stronger than the one we watched last season?

Finally, the main reason I'll be delighted if Ibra joins is that he's practically guaranteed to score a lot of goals. I had a look at his stats today, and he's scored 150 goals in about 300 official club matches. And not just that - his strength and technique make him exactly the kind of player we need up front from a tactical point of view too. He'll be able to create space for Pato, who can then use his speed, and will link up beautifully with Dinho. And that also means that Pirlo's passes won't go to waste like they have for the last three years (yes, it turns out that statistically, Pirlo is still the best playmaker in the Serie A).

I really don't understand this pessimism, especially not at a moment like this.
Pessimism?!?!? I call it a different opinion... And if you think our mid looked better than in a long time last game(fair enough), I can say we will disagree in everything about midfield.

If you think our mid will be great, fine. But last year we lost several 3 points in Serie A because our mid run out of gas. Games we scored and were winning... Even in San Siro! In C.L we were out runner even more. And this season they are one year older. Plus, just because I don't share your opinion about Boateng, doesn't mean I'm a pessimist... But I sure hope Boateng proves me wrong. We will need him to perform...

Btw, why we have a better coach now? I hope the best for Allegri, but until now(like Leo last year), he did nothing in Milan(or other big team) to be label as a sure thing. The management of a small team is a different animal than what he will face now... So, lets wait for the finish of the season before saying he's better at Milan than Leonardo.

Even more, because Allegri will need to do better than what you wrote in the quote above, since he will have a much better and(apparently) health team.

Brasiliero brings good points:

- Allegri has proven nothing yet, but to me, it definitely looks that Allegri is better than Leonardo from the way the team is playing...(maybe Brasiliero is biased cause Leonardo was Brazilian )

- KPBoateng isn't a great player, yes I agree with Brasilierio, but he is definitely going to be a useful SQUAD player. Last year as you said, we lost games because our midfield runs out of gas and have no valid substitutes...KPB has better stamina, speed, strength than most players, when he gets tired we can bring on Rino/Ambro.. (maybe Brasiliero is biased against KPB cause we were supposed to get Jucilei instead )

but Brasiliero, who do you think is better for Milan -- Ibra or Robinho? and try not to be biased!!

Other points, it seems that we have signed or we are close to signing FIVE other players in the last TWO days:

- 19yr old Uruguayan Coates
- 22yr old Uruguayan Mondelongo
- 18yr old Spanish leftback Adria Carmona from Barca
- 18yr old Italian defender Cammalieri from Reggina (he went to Chelsea 2 yrs ago)
- 15yr old Argentinean kid that is labeled the new Messi, we are waiting for an answer on Saturday.
